I cannot believe I have never written a review for El Chilitos Mexican Restaurant. It's our go-to…read morefor Mexican take-out and yes, we order take-out once or twice a month, which in our house translates to "no cooking." What I always order (and I'm boringly consistent) is Two hard shell shredded beef tacos with rice and beans. The tacos always arrive with the perfect amount of meat, crisp lettuce, and a tasty amount of cheese. The shell stays crispy and never turns into a soggy tortilla which is a win! Rice is fluffy and well seasoned. The Beans are creamy, savory, and basically soul-warming! I can never finish the beans the portions are good. The Hubby gets the carne asada burrito, which is so huge it could double as a pillow after a long day. He swears it's delicious and I've "sampled" a bite and yes, the flavor is there, very satisfying. Chips and salsa come complimentary even with to-go orders! It's around $32 for my taco plate and the carne asada burrito is a bit more but you're getting a lot of goodness for your bucks. We always order take-out, and somehow - somehow - the food lands back home still warm. Magic? Maybe! We've never eaten in so I can't speak to the dine-in vibe. Reason being it is a tiny restaurant but it always looks clean and has a sitting area for to-go orders. My only tiny gripe when we call to place an order, there are moments where I'm on hold while the staff seem to have a full-blown conversation. Ten minutes later, they remember I'm on the line. It's not a deal breaker, just a "huh, okay" moment I file under "worth the wait for the fix." Bottom line: Expect satisfaction from El Chilitos. It's my dependable, no-surprises, "I'm craving comfort Mexican food" go-to. Consistent quality, reliable flavors, and a taxi-cab of a burrito. My pictures are horrible but I promise to eat there again and share more!

Told to sit wherever we wanted so we did had a ice cold beer and chips and salsa were served. Then we looked over the menu and they had a huge selection I end up getting the chille Verde and the chile Colorado. I asked the girl how good it was. She said it was excellent so I ordered it in boil boy it was delicious. The both meats were so tender and the chili sauce was very flavorful. The beans and rice were really good chips and salsa were really good. Service was excellent. I asked her if El Chilito was a chain cause I seen them before and I guess it kinda is but they only owned the location in Fontana in Ontario so I will be trying to Ontario location next cause I'm closer to that one five star for you El Chilitos

The food came out piping hot and fresh, just like last time. There was a bit of a wait, but it was absolutely worth it. The flavors were just as rich and comforting as I remembered. This spot has definitely earned a place on my go-to list whenever I'm craving Menudo!

The lady with the glasses looking like a 70's cafeteria lunch lady, she needs an attitude adjustment. I walked inside and being that it was my first time stepping inside the establishment I didn't know where to order, so I turn my attention to the menu above the window frame where they cook the food she turns around and says "what would you like" in spanish with a resting bitch face expression, our whole conversation was in Spanish. I asked her if they sell menudo everyday or just Saturday/Sunday, she looked irritated and just shook her head left to right...still not being clear as to why she shook her head I asked do you serve menudo everyday and she shook her head once again up and down indicating yes, mind you there was only two people in the restaurant. One was eating outside and a school kid sitting down waiting for his food, it wasn't busy at all so it's not like I was taking up her time or anything like that for her to have that attitude. I then asked if the menudo came with the hominy (I like it with hominy, I know it's not the traditional way to eat it) she said no we don't put hominy in our menudo, I told her ok let me have some tacos instead and she just looks at me without saying anything as if to say "ok what kind?" So I start telling her how many tacos I want of each meat and she cuts me off mid sentence and tells me, "you order over there, they will take your order" and points to the right and then I see the register and a painted sign above that says "order here" like I said my first time being there, yes I know I should have been more observant that was my fault but why engage with me asking me what I wanted just to cut me off mid order and tell me to order somewhere else. Ok whatever, so she turns around and starts doing her thing, meanwhile I don't see anyone at the register so I'm just standing there waiting for someone to take my order, a few minutes go by and this other lady comes in from the kitchen, they start talking and joking around for about 1 minute and then I hear them get quite and about 20 seconds later guess who who pops up again to take my order? Cafeteria lunch lady, without saying a word just stating at me with a grin on her face, so I say ok can I have two asada and she automatically stops me and asks me "two asada what?" Lol I'm thinking to myself, what do you mean what? I just finished telling you literally 2 minutes ago I wanted tacos before you interrupted me and sent me to have my order taken by someone else and now you want to act like you don't know what I'm talking about? This is when I knew she was on some BS. I honestly wanted to walk away at that moment in time because I'm a paying fucking customer, I'm not asking for free food so don't treat me like I'm bothering you or like you're doing me a favor...but instead I took a deep breath and told her "Tacos" I finished ordering and then took my seat. I enjoyed the tacos, they were good but the salsa's lack in flavor. All in all I'd come back but not if my food will continue to be served with an attitude, I don't want to feel like I'm bothering them when I'm just trying to eat and at the same time support local establishments.

With the shredded lettuce, cotija cheese, sour cream, and avocado. It had the perfect mix of freshness and crunch To drink, I tried cebada for the first time and I'm officially a fan It tasted like a mix between horchata and chocolate milk... such a good combo If you love tortilla soup, RUN don't walk ‍ it's a limited-time special! The tender chicken, crispy chips, and toppings like avocado, purple onion, cotija, and sour cream made it an absolute dream The barbacoa was super tender and flavorful, served with pasta salad, beans, and handmade tortillas everything tasted homemade and comforting The pork tamale was giving soft and tender on the inside with a slightly crispy, pan-fried outer layer. And they did not skimp on the filling...lots of meat and potatoes The machaca had so much flavor I loved the veggies and potatoes, paired with beans and rice. It was hearty and satisfying The ceviche was bright, fresh, and citrusy right up my alley! I would've loved a little more spice, but the homemade tostadas took it to another level Quesabirria tacos? Always a yes cheesy, tender, flavorful meat with consomé for dipping... say less paired with cheesy beans and rice = perfection For dessert, I got the corn elote soft, sweet, and delicious.
