This place seems to attract my attention these days. El Paso Grande is an inviting neighborhood style Carniceria. A whole lot of happy friendly people here; that includes the clientele, the employees and me! However, the hot food carryout area is where you want to focus on. A self serve operation where you pay by the pound. Its hit or miss because prepared food trays that you might find interesting aren't always marked for identification. "I have no idea what the hell half the stuff actually is, but it looks damn good"! Curiosity at its best... Always a great pit-stop for lunch. A half pound of tasty Pork Carnitas layered on a few hand-made Tortillas... throw in a side of Mexican Rice and take a chance on a scoop of the unknown! I ordered catering for a 30 person halloween party. The food was amazing! Everyone complimented the taste and the amount of food I received could have easily fed double the amount of people! Laura was very accommodating over Facebook messenger and helped me/answered any questions that came up. The pickup process was super easy as they brought it out to our car. Amazing grocery store for all things Mexican. This was my first time shopping at this incredible market. I walked in looking for authentic items for a Mexican feast and was overwhelmed with their selections at the hot food table. Luckily a very nice lady helped with with everything I needed: fresh, warm corn tortillas, fresh (hot to the touch) flour tortillas that literally just came off of the flat top, pork tamales (still warm), chicharrons made in store and some fresh tortilla chips. Their hot food bar is probably 60 feet long! The butcher counter has more meat selections than I could imagine. While I did not have the time to dive deeper into this market, I will definitely be back whenever I am in need of authentic food items. read more

Well both to be exact. You can buy the freshest produce available and some pretty hard to find meat. If Walt Disney was a butcher this would be his Disneyland. They have everything from ribs, chicken, pork, lamb brains, cow, shrimp, etc..etc.. The home style buffet is fresh and always hot. The concept is very simple. Grab a carryout container, fill it up and they charge by the pound. The actual buffet spread is fantastic and fully loaded! I did a combination of rice, beans, carne asada, tortillas, potatoes, pork, veggies and hot sauce. I managed to pile on a few homemade tamales as well. Taste just like grandma use to make back in the day....oh so righteous. El Paso Grande is not what it appears to be from the outside. This is a really great supermarket if you are looking for particular Mexican ingredients. It is guaranteed that you will find them here. They have an awesome buffet style cafe in the back of the store when you can fill up containers of barbacoa, beans, guacamole, salsa, or just grab some tamales for lunch! You can get great food for really cheap. My parents have their Cinco De Mayo party catered by El Paso Grande every year and they always do a wonderful job. They get the chicken enchiladas, beans, spanish rice, pico de gallo, and flan. They come in huge tin trays that could feed 40 people or more and you wouldn't believe the price if I told you. I wasn't as happy with their food this year as I was last year. The beans were a little watery and the chicken enchiladas lacked in chicken, but the rice and flan were really great. Their hot food is delicious, it deserves well over 5 stars! If you didn't know, they have a small bar of (already made) hot food at the very back of the store. Freshly made every day and it is absolutely authentic and delicious! However, I am rating 4 stars because with the amount of clientele that this place has, you'd think the owners invest some money into their business and remodel a thing or two! The fresh tortillas were the highlight of the trip into what could have been a delightful shopping experience. Being only English speaking can be a challenge unless staff is accommodating and makes you feel welcome. Not here. Butcher was asked if picanha was available, a special Brazilian cut of beef. Response was No Picanha!! No alternate suggestion or questions to help us. Hot bar looks good but no labels for contents or pricing. If you do not speak Spanish the staff does little to engage you or assist in making you feel welcome to shop here. read more

I have been visiting this store for a long time the food in the buffet bar is always clean and the employees are always pleasant. The only criticism I have is the lay out to have the person price and wrap is in a very impractical location it should be away from the serving tables to facilitate the customers who are still shopping those items close to the service station make their selections with out been intimidated by the customers who are ready to go. Been to El Paso a few times, have tried the gorditas those seem to be a bit dry seeing that they sit out all day long. Tamales are ok, the carnitas are super greasy, they should be on some type of mesh aluminum tray that has holes for grease to drain and emptied when it gets full of grease. Salsas are super yummy. I'll try again, hope they change some of their hot item techniques ( I.e. make gorditas a bit fresher. I travel over 30 minutes to get real Mexican food. read more

El Paso is the best place to buy meats and on Saturday and Sunday they have fresh awesome tasting Mexican carnitas and menudo ,tamales,raja con quest, man so much more freshly made. Did I forget homemade tortias I buy all my spices their I give El Paso 100% recommendation.... read more
