    Fresh homemade tortillas daily
    Andres D.

Holy tamale thunder batman!! The freshest homemade tortillas on the planet. But wait before you go on reading this review, it needs a little theme music. So open another browser window and play the following on full blast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXlwuZ_nEk0 Upon entering the carniceria you are like "is it a restaurant or grocery store?". Well both to be exact. You can buy the freshest produce available and some pretty hard to find meat. If Walt Disney was a butcher this would be his Disneyland. They have everything from ribs, chicken, pork, lamb brains, cow, shrimp, etc..etc.. The home style buffet is fresh and always hot. The concept is very simple. Grab a carryout container, fill it up and they charge by the pound. The actual buffet spread is fantastic and fully loaded! I did a combination of rice, beans, carne asada, tortillas, potatoes, pork, veggies and hot sauce. I managed to pile on a few homemade tamales as well. Taste just like grandma use to make back in the day....oh so righteous. So if you are in need for authentic Mexican food, butcher style cuts of meat, groceries and cases of beer..you have found it with Carniceria El Paso.

Drop everything you're doing and come here! My brother took me here and I'm not crazy about Elotes…read morespecifically the mayonnaise, but these elotes are top notch. So delicious! You can either get a traditional elote that comes on a stick or you can get your elote in a cup, I chose to get the cup. It was so good, I couldn't even taste the mayo. I also got their nachos. I only got Doritos with melted cheese but I'm pretty sure you can add extra toppings! Even though my nachos were plain they were so good. Especially the melted cheese. It tasted so high quality, much different from your standard melted cheese. If you don't come here for anything else come here for the horchata. They have so many different flavors. Original, mango, strawberry, the list goes on! I got the pina colada- my absolute favorite drink. It was incredible, they even threw in a few cherries. Everything filled me up. I felt like I ate a 3 course meal. I was stuffed, in the best way possible! I definitely have to come back for the banana split, I saw someone order it and I was practically gawking at it when it came out! The menu is vast and you have plenty of options. It's not really a place where you can sit and eat it's more of like a grab and go. Everyone was super friendly. I will definitely be back for more.

If you're a foodie and an early bird, this is a good stop in downtown Naperville; they open daily…read moreat 8 am, even Sundays! This shop, home to many varietals of olive oil, vinegar and other gourmet goodies, shares space with Dark Horse Pastries, so you also have your choice of baked goods. They also sell a small array of wine and beer, and products from other local companies such as chocolates and honey (creamed raw raspberry honey, anyone? Sounds good to me!) You can taste all the varieties of oil and vinegar. Like it spicy? Pick from habanero, jalapeno or red pepper oil! Want fruit flavor? How about Mexican Lime, Meyer Lemon or Blood Orange? The balsamic vinegar came in an array of interesting flavors, including Dark Chocolate, which I think would pair well with strawberries! I liked that there were larger and smaller sized bottles to choose from (small size was 5 oz). They also sell a modest range of dip mixes, mustard, pesto, pasta, and assorted other treats. The addition of the bakery in the same building makes this shop a little different from some of the other gourmet places around here (note that there are several other places in downtown Naperville that specialize in this type of product). It's slightly hard to find (go down the alley between Potbelly and the yellow house building and it's in the courtyard behind), but worth looking for! Staff was friendly but not pushy, and quite "on" for early morning! :) Note to credit card users: if you spend less than $5, an extra 50¢ charge is added.

I've since visited this store twice - once when they first opened and once a few weeks ago. Their selection of balsamic vinegars in different flavors are fresh and unique for the area. I really like that they have spicy oils too, which are my favorite! They have testers with bread of each product so you can test your favorite before purchasing! I don't find their prices too be that expensive either! I would definitely recommend supporting this local business downtown if you're in need of some fresh oils or vinegars!

I had the Majadito which is a beef/steak rice with eggs, plantains, tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. A relatively simple dish when described, but the combination of flavors was delightful. And a big portion I ended up bringing some home to have for breakfast the next day. My uncle had the asada en olla, a roasted beef stew with rice that had my uncle pausing repeatedly to comment how delicious it was. And he is less of a foodie than I am, so for him to comment like that was a big compliment. We shared some steak and chicken empanadas. A bite of empanada with some of their house made hot sauce is a bite of heaven. Service was so sweet and kind, attentive but in a respectful way. This is truly a family run spot and I felt like I was a guest in their home being given a home cooked meal made with love. The restaurant is clean and cozy. The bathrooms included. And there is plentiful street parking in front and the surrounding areas. A gem in the suburbs that shouldn't be hidden. While I always look for them at the markets, I will definitely be back to this place.
