5+ Star Review for Mercato Italiano…read more From the moment you walk into Mercato Italiano, you know you have found something special. This is not just a café. It is an experience that brings authentic Italian flavor and warmth right into the heart of Naples. Let me start with the espresso. The flavor was rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. You can taste the quality in every sip. It had that true Italian profile, bold but never bitter, and it set the tone for everything that followed. Now the food. I ordered a croissant sandwich, and it was nothing short of exceptional. The croissant itself was fresh out of the oven, light, flaky, and buttery in all the right ways. Inside, I had two sunny-side-up eggs cooked just right, paired with prosciutto, bacon, and ham. The combination of flavors was incredible. Every bite gave you a perfect mix of savory, rich, and slightly salty notes, all brought together by that warm, delicate croissant. What really stood out was the presentation. This was not just a sandwich thrown on a plate. It was carefully arranged on a platter, clean, inviting, and done with pride. You can tell they care about every detail. The atmosphere completes the experience. The energy inside is welcoming, relaxed, and full of character. It feels like a place where people come not just to eat, but to slow down, connect, and enjoy the moment. Whether you are stopping in for a quick espresso or sitting down for a full breakfast, the environment makes you want to stay. The experience was outstanding along with the service that made you feel like Family. If you are anywhere near Naples, this is a must-visit. Mercato Italiano delivers on flavor, presentation, and experience at the highest level. This is easily a 5-plus star spot, and a place I will return to again without hesitation.

If you fancy delicious Mozzarella, tomatoes and fresh basil, go for the Napoli. By the way, I can eat one by myself but they are a nice size and are good enough to share by 2 people. They have a pizza called Alessandro that is pure gourmet, a feast for pizza lovers. Mercato Italiano may be a bit busy at some times but for me the waiting in line is worth it. The owner and chef, Valerio di Falco, was going around the tables checking that everything was good. He was very nice, same with Jiusi and Anna.

Seating limited to 8 folding chairs and stand up narrow eating tables located outdoors only so plan for this. Cooked to order (literally from the fridge) so wait for the food its worth it. I took my chili cheese dog to go and when I got into my car I did not know what to expect behind the styrophome hotdogs box. What I experienced was chilicheesedog perfection in my opinion... poppyseed bun (not so ordinary) with perfectly assembled chili and cheese sauce. Not soggy. Perfect temp. Great chili. Next time expanding my chooce to some cuban menu items and the fries. For the people who did not have the perfect experience: Yah the interior is just a kitchen. Yah people may not speak perfect English (really?) It might even be dingy. ...But it was a damn good hotdog! Pic is not great but was in the moment!

Service can take awhile and the fries are sometimes mushy. I enjoy a good hot dog and was hoping to find a restaurant that can make them in a few minutes and skip the long wait time. These hot dogs have been a little charred tasting, but still have a decent flavor. They offer a variety of canned drinks on ice and other options like hamburgers and chicken tenders. This is a restaurant to stop by if you're looking for a casual hot dog lunch. The place looks clean, and a restaurant that makes hot dogs can be hard to find. One of the hot dogs we tried stood out, we were pretty much sold on the Chicago dog. They do a good job with this one and we may be back for another lunch.

I visited this place a few times and sampled several pies. My favorite was the Soppressata Hot Honey. Yum! And, if you are gluten free, they have this incredible dough they offer which my wife says tastes fantastic! But, you will need to order a whole personal pie. And don't forget the dessert. I tried one of their bombolone and it was fantastic! All of this great food was found in a quaint, but lively, little shop at the end of an alley. And the guys behind the counter were always friendly and ready to guide you through your pizza journey. So go ahead and venture off the beaten path and you will not be disappointed.

The variety here is incredible, from simple classics to fully loaded, ingredient-packed slices. Pricing Plain slices feel a little pricey, but the specialty, loaded slices are definitely worth it. Considering it's on Fifth Avenue South, the prices make sense. You're not walking out feeling ripped off. Fresh and Fast Service Slices are constantly fresh, and they bring your food right to your table. Hot, fresh, and ready to enjoy. Plus, they have seasonings on the side so you can customize. Marketing and Vibes The pink theme is amazing and makes the place feel fun and super Instagram-worthy. Temperature and AC Situation It gets very hot inside. I love the open-air seating concept, but in the summer it's brutal. AC vents don't seem to do much, and there aren't fans running, so brace yourself. Customer Service Not the friendliest vibe when I asked a couple questions. I get it, it's a quick-stop spot, not a fancy restaurant, but a friendly smile never hurts. With the heat, it kinda makes sense why staff might be a little rushed. Cleanliness Bathrooms are super clean, which is always a huge plus. Overall Rating Fun, unique, quick slice spot with tons of options. Fresh, hot slices, cute marketing, minor heat and AC issue, and slightly rushed service balance out to four stars.
