3.5 stars I haven't been here in a while. More than a couple of years. Last time was just ok. Average. That's why I haven't bothered going back. I went again a couple days ago and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it this time around. The salsa was good. My steak tacos had lots of steak and were good. The service was good. Our favorite "go-to", better than fast food restaurant. Not exactly gourmet mexican, but for the price, it's alot better than a fast food chain. I've been here multiple times and I've enjoyed it every time. There isn't anything flashy about El Nopal but it's a welcoming restaurant if you're in the mood for Mexican. They're pretty fast with seating, taking your order and getting your food to you. The staff has always been kind. The price is great for the portion you get. I've gotten the combo plates and have tried the steak quesadilla, chicken burrito, chicken crunchy taco and chickem enchilada. All were great! The chips and salsa are good too. read more

All of the food I've ever tried here has been good, and that includes a wide variety of items: chicken and beef burritos, tacos, enchiladas, carne asada, nachos, tortilla soup, and even tilapia! I love the white cheese here, which I always order to go along with the free chips (which come with superb homemade salsa). My favorite dish is the chicken burrito, but anything will do when I head here to satisfy a craving. Middle of the road Tex Mex. The service was good and the food was served quickly. This was our second visit and both times the food was a bit too salty for my taste. My family enjoyed their food. Terrible waiter, was having dinner with a friend, after being rude 3 times asking us if we wanted another margarita, he actually was walking up to our table with someone else's drinks and stated "oh you did not order" he then proceeded to tell us we had to pay him $20.00 for 2 hours sitting at his table. Had lunch today... the food was pretty good but the service was so bad. No refill on water, chips, salsa ... could hardly get a spoon THEN nobody came to the register to take our $$. I wrote a note on the back of the ticket "Tired of waiting. Will call with CC #". The waitress ran out and got the cc @ the car and wanted to know why we were leaving without paying... DUH! So we paid, I called the mngr. who wouldn't be in til after 530pm. Well I just called him, Ricardo, and he apologized... Cross El Nopal off the list! read more

I have always enjoyed El Nopal for a great little neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Way better than Rosalita's.I had a little mixup with a to go order the other day. The manner in which they corrected the issue was far beyond what I would expect and completely restored my confidence in what a fine restaurant it is. Server was very nice and helpful. Salsa and chips were also. Had lime margaritas which were good and they had a special on Saturday for a pitcher. Husband is vegetarian and really enjoyed the veg fajitas which included cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, onions and green peppers plus another plate with beans,rice sour cream, Pico de gallo and lettuce . They offer pretty good american/mexican food at a fair price. The chips and salsa were above average and the drinks are too. The place can get pretty busy on the weekends but that is expected. It's our go to place for this american/mexican food. This beats El Maguey btw. read more

El Nopal is your middle of the road Mexican restaurant. Service was friendly. Food was served hot and rather quickly. Food is pretty average, nothing really special. The burrito I had was just meat and topped with Mexican cheese. Overall just an average place with average food. read more

Greeted and seated quickly. The server dumped salsa everywhere and only partially cleaned it up. 5 servers watched as I finished cleaning it up myself. We had someone join our table late and order a water. The water arrived 15 min later. A separate kitchen staff member delivered out food and was very polite. There was a bay leaf in my burrito (I understand that happens but still annoying). Daughter ordered chicken nuggets and they were so dry (and not exactly chicken) she couldn't eat them.
