We were seated promptly - and our server was very nice, but he was handling the front of the house on his own - which meant service after being seated was poor at best. Once our food arrived - our server disappeared - never checked that everything was okay - never offered refill on drinks - nothing. I ordered a burrito with chicken and it literally had three small pieces of chicken, a boat load of onions and peppers - plus enough of the liquid it was cooked in to fill the plate! Needless to say, the flour tortilla was gummy from the liquid and inedible. The others in our group said their food was "just okay". Once someone came out from the back we got our check and left. My best advice - if you see Diego's - keep driving.

The restaurant is decorated in very bright, festive, and welcoming.    The menu is extensive with lots of choices and photos of food options.  It all sounded and looked delish.  The food arrived and looked just like the photos. We ordered queso for an appetizer (very good!).  My dad ordered beef fajitas and I ordered a chicken chimichanga. The food was good but seemed to lack some seasonings.  We added salt/pepper which improved it a bit though still lacking some spice.  The frozen cup was delight for a Corona Light, relieved a little moving stress.  Will definitely give it another shot.

This is some of the best Mexican food in this area with authentic Mexican flavors. The Quesabarillias were perfect, the choriqueso was unbelievable and they have some of the best chips I've ever had. More people need to go to this restaurant, it is the best of the best in the area. This place blows every other Mexican restaurant in Madison out of the water.

Great Food and Service but Payment and Billing System Needs an Update…read more (3.5 Stars ) Mi Viejo is one of the only good restaurants in the Carrollton area aside from the fast food restaurants in the area, Whenever I'm in the Carrollton area I eat here at least once. So far on my visits, the food has been great and the service has been pretty good too. The only issue I face is when I have to get an itemized receipt for business expenses. On my last visit, I asked for an itemized receipt right when I sat down and the server came over. The server assured me that he could do it as I have had this issue on all of my previous visits. Once I ate my delicious perfectly made meal, I again asked for an itemized receipt. The server disappeared for over ten minutes and I had to go to the counter. At the counter they gave me a tiny receipt to show I paid and tipped but no itemized receipt. Again the person at the counter disappeared for another ten minutes as I guess they thought I would just go away. Finally, a manager came out and redid my whole bill and gave me a printed receipt with separate charges for what I ordered but no item description. I guess this is the best that they can do. I do recommend they modernize their POS as since there are several industries in the area, I can't be the only person who has to submit receipts for business expenses. Aside from these ongoing issues, the food is always on point and servers do the best they can.

We were quickly seated by a smiling face and given drinks. Our waiter was so friendly and accommodating. The place was packed. It looked like it had been a diner in the past perhaps. The walls and ceilings were lined with vibrant art and papel picado in bright colors. We tried the ground beef queso and it was so full of flavor. It seemed scratch made with just the right balance of meat to cheese. We tried both flour and corn tortillas. I preferred the hearty corn, but the flour was equally delicious. The sauces are both amazing and I ate them with a spoon. I hope to return and try the empanadas, pupusas and the sopes.
