The service was wonderful, the restaurant was clean and mostly empty. I ordered tortilla soup which was good. However my beef green chili colorado was inedible, either spoiled or too old to be eaten. The rice was so oversalted it was offensive and the beans coverd by the green chili was terrible. The side garnish with guacamole was equally offensive and oversalted. To be fair when we notified the waitress and floor manager they removed the plate and removed the charge from my bill. read more

I've been apprehensive to try any Mexican food since moving to Florence, KY from Southern California. El Nopal is the closest spot to me. So naturally, when craving a margarita, I gave them a shot. El Nopal was a recommended stop from a family member who had previously traveled through. They had just opened when we got there so we were quickly seated. The lunch specials are fairly priced. The chorizo queso was excellent. I had the chicken, rice, and cheese that I get at most Mexican restaurants. Our food came out lightning fast. Really tasty food! The chile poblano was one of the best I've had, and you could tell the refried beans were fresh. They didn't have that really pasty, canned consistency that a lot of Mexican restaurants serve. The portions are huge as well, I had to bring one whole poblano home. Also, the service was great, our waitress took really good care of us. If you decide to come here, I doubt you'll be disappointed. read more

Always have a good meal here. Portions are large. I wish the atmosphere was a little better by dimming the lights a little to create a better mood but the food is always good. I have never eaten at a bad El Nopal, and as of tonight I can still say that. In fact I think this may be my new favorite El Nopal. The cheese dip is phenomenal, and I haven't found a better salsa anywhere, especially the hot. The company as a whole has it's act together which is why I knew before hand it was going to be good. They have lunch specials and drink specials, but I recommend the shrimp, any version of it. You can eat the chips and salsa till our full, and then the amazing food comes. Waitress got the order wrong..not a big deal..but when I asked for what I ordered, she became very rude and seemingly unconcerned. She took the dish back to the kitchen and it came back later without the vegetables I didnt want. But it was the same plate as before, same food everything and I could still taste the onions and what not. So I told her again,She said she would get the manager...so then this guy came over and I told him the story and to take it back. This guy also didn't seem to care! The food tastes fresh and flavorful. Pretty decent Mexican for the location. I ordered takeout and their system was down. It was a 25 minute wait for a chimichanga. I get there and the nice lady tells me their system was down and they'll get started on it... long story short: I waited 50 minutes for a good chimichanga that I ended up getting for free. (2 more minutes and I would have left and this wouldn't have been a good review) They have sizeable portions as well. read more

The food here is your typical inexpensive Mexican food. I love all things nacho so I typically get the simple chicken and nachos, but sometimes I enjoy the Heuvos con Chorizo. What I love most is the fast and friendly service. I have yet to have a slow meal or poor service. And what is it with restaurant salsa?!? I happened to be driving by and noticed quite a few cars in the lot so I decided to give it a try. Fantastic on all counts! I was given a mild and hot salsa with a basket of warm chips. Both salsas were good but I preferred the hot. I ordered the combo with a taco and 2 enchiladas. The taco meat was nicely seasoned and the enchilada gravy had a nice tang. I can't remember the name of my dish but it was chicken over rice with queso sauce over top, It was edible but really had no flavor. there was absolutely no seasoning on the chicken. Just simply seared/ in skillet plain. co-worker order the #7 lunch combo and she could not even eat hers.. I think she took 2 bites. When the waiter asked us if things was o.k she mentioned about her dish and I told him about mine all he said was I will let kitchen know. I could eat mine with a little salsa added to give flavor but hers was not eatable and one would think they would have comp the meal or gave her something for a return visit. they did not offer nothing. we all commented to ne another how we wouldn't go back. Visited El Nopal on a recommendation of a chef that I work with, great suggestion. I was told that the food was authentic and supremely tasty. You can almost always trust a place that a chef frequents and recommends. We all shared some queso and chips - was good, though I had better queso recently and was a bit disappointed. A little too runny. Salsa was great. My daughter ordered the beef nachos, I ordered taquitos, and my friend ordered the fajitas with beef, chicken, and shrimp. We were all pleased with our food, however, I wouldn't order the taquitos again. Not that they were bad, I was just not a fan of the shredded beef and chicken inside them. I thought the beef was going to be ground, it was my mistake. I would absolutely go back and try other offerings. The menu was huge and there was so much to choose from. Best Wednesday margarita specials ever! Their lime margaritas are $1.99 and their flavored margaritas are $2.75 for the 12 oz servings! And thy don't skimp on the booze either! The food was phenomenal too! I ordered the chicken fajita nachos and a friend ordered the shrimp quesadilla. Each dish has easily 3 meals worth of food and was delicious. The servers were friendly, attentive and took excellent care of us. My only regret is that I had to limit myself to two of those delicious margaritas since I had to drive home. This restaurant is really good they have really nice people but some of the guys don't speak fluent English therefore it makes it really hard when you try to tell them back on your quesadilla you didn't get any cheese and you didn't get any queso. Then he just kind of looks at you and smiles and shakes his head and it's like you need to speak English if you're going to work in a restaurant you need to speak English if you're going to work at a Mexican restaurant because there are a lot of English-speaking people that come into a restaurant whether it's Mexican or not. Needless to say it's really good food I will go back. But I really think they need to learn how to speak English and understand English a little bit better than they do read more
