Amazing. Celebrated my wife's birthday with the tasting menu. It's timed like perfect sushi. They just keep small plates with intense flavors coming so you engage all your senses. Chef and his staff made us feel so welcome and cared for.

Amazing quality (didn't expect less to be honest from Ferran Adrià's brother) and very attentive service. The ambience is very informal (although the restaurant hoja Santa, incorporated in the same building, is more upscale and with a more complex menu), both are must try. A single taco is around 3,50 €. Lots of different brands of tequilas and Mezcals to taste.

I was very unimpressed with the food. I was also served a drink in a fake taco with a flower in it. Seriously. I have never been embarrassed by a drink before. Left hungry and went and had dinner elsewhere. Not worth a visit. Unless you want to drink out of a taco.

By far one of the best restaurants I've visited during my stay in Barcelona. The service is warm and friendly, while also being very informative. There were a few people in our group who were not fluent is Spanish, yet this was not a problem as the staff spoke perfect English. The drinks were great, I had the Lola which was strong yet very floral in flavor. We also had the chicharron de queso to start, guac and some tacos. The costillas de la abuela were both amazing and creatively plated. The boneless ribs had a "faux bone" made of yuca. The corn flan was sumptuous and the chocolate ice cream in a corn cone was delightful. The atmosphere is very inviting and casual, perfect for lunch or a night out with friends.

Do yourself a favor and order the Lola cocktail Seriously good

I was in Barcelona for the night and had dinner reservations for a different restaurant. If you have ever been to Europe, you know that finding an address can sometimes be challenging. We happened to walk by Hoja Santa and asked for directions. It dawned on me that this was the same restaurant that Gwyneth Paltrow had recently visited. The hostess was kind enough to find us a seat in the bar area for El Niño Viejo in front of the kitchen on a busy Saturday evening. Wow I'm sure glad we couldn't find our original restaurant. Disclaimer, I Love Love Love Mexican food. I've eaten some seriously good Mexican food in Mexico, San Francisco, L.A., Toronto, New York etc . To say this restaurant is the most delicious food I have had in a while is not an understatement. The food is so fresh and although the ingredients are nothing new or out of the ordinary. The way they are blended and prepared in the dishes is a delight for the eyes as well as the palate. The presentation is also very carefully executed. Don't expect huge portions. These are small dishes to savour and sample. The drinks are pretty spectacular too. Although the restaurant is small and crazy busy. The staff made it a point of being extremely attentive and always available to explain the dishes. I will definitely make my way back again and recommend this place to as many people as possible

This tiny mango salad was the highlight of our night

Thank goodness we had a reservation, otherwise the wait time for walk-ins was quoted to be 2-3 hours. We were seated at the counter, smack-dab in the middle of all the action. The drinks were just okay, but the tapas were great! We tried the anchovy dish, jamon, tomato toast, paella, padron peppers, spanish omelette, mussels, and finished with the crema catalana for dessert. All of the dishes were outstanding and they did not disappoint. Service was phenomenal and they were all very friendly and engaging with diners. They guided us on how many plates to order and stopped us from ordering too much, which I appreciate since we weren't sure how big each portion was. Would definitely come back if I had the chance!

The street outside this resturant is not safe in my estimation. I mean my beautiful daughter did get chased by "a newer uninvited resident." Inside? The best resturant in the city. Maybe in all of Spain. I could make a case for it to be THE BEST RESTURANT ON EARTH. (Except that title goes to Commanders Palace in New Orleans or Caviar Kaspia in Paris. But maybe not.) Great service. Great food. Great feeling place. Drawbacks? The neighborhood. The entrance to get in is AWFUL. The place is always too crowded and it can get very loud. Yet I am giving it the maximum stars? "Why Mancow," you ask. Ready? I don't know! Its just THAT SPECIAL.

It's about a 6 minute taxi ride from there. We were seated in the back room with the writing covering the walls. The front bar seemed a little livelier but we took what was offered. Husband had house red wine (3.50 euros) and I had sangria (4.50 euros). Good pours for both. We started with the red shrimp (gambillos) in a lemongrass sauce, about 6 shrimp for 15 euros. Then grilled octopus (which was very tender) over mash potatos and snap peas for 15 euros. We also had a side of grilled bread (4 pieces) for 3.5. We also ordered the Pepita beef with mash potato but took home for dinner as we were full (18 euros). We finished with the homemade corn ice cream with carmelized popcorn and raspberries, which was very unique at 6.5. We added our names to the wall to top off the meal. Service was quick and friendly. Total bill was 85 euros including 5 drinks. It was our best meal in Barcelona so far.

great experience with friends…read more we arrived at 7pm and didn't leave until 1030p, so that should give you a little hint on whether we liked it to not. ambiance - the entrance is located down a little alleyway. once inside, you are surrounded by stone in an old, cave like building. the lighting and styling make it a cozy space to enjoy a wonderful meal. the service - our waiter (Daniele) was on point. incredibly personable, attentive, and funny! the food was timed incredibly well. they gave us plenty of time to enjoy, instead of rushing things out one after another. we had a group of 11, so we had to do the prix-fixe menu. let me tell you though, the amount of food was easily enough for 15 people. the starters - these were shared with the table, but they definitely brought more than enough. crispy bread with tomatoes and olive oil pesto infused burrata with roasted tomatoes tuna tartare with crispy plantains brioche topped with Catalan sausage, truffle cream, and crunchy mushrooms each of these was tasty. i'd say my favorites were the tuna tartare and the brioche. the mains: each person selected their main. cod cooked 2 ways with trinxat (mashed potato, winter cabbage, rendered pork fat), iberian ham, and figs argentine angus tenderloin Iberian pluma (cut from acorn fed pig), smoked sweet potato i got the last one and it. was. AMAZING. cooked to a medium and was deliciously tender. others reported the angus tenderloin was good, but needed some kind of sauce with it. desserts (pick one): variety of chocolates cannoli filled with goat cheese cheesecake and berries ice cream - passionfruit and raspberry with a white crunch for 65 euro per person for the prix-fixe, this was a great meal to share with friends! drinks - very reasonably priced bottles of wine (around 28 euro per bottle), so we kept well hydrated throughout the experience. others in the group got cocktails and said they were really good as well. i've never spent 3.5 hrs in any restaurant, anywhere, but i would go back here in a heartbeat. i fully recommend checking this place out if you're in Barcelona!
