We only get to Springfield once a month and always look forward to eating out. We had plans to go…read moreto a different place today (and now really wish we had) but saw a Facebook post about their $1 tacos so that's why we went there instead. Paul had the carnitas tacos and liked them very much. I ordered chicken fajitas and did not like them. I was impressed that the fajitas were mostly thin-sliced chicken (which I prefer) rather than half onions and green peppers. But I didn't care for the way they were seasoned and the chicken had a rubbery texture. The corn tortillas that came with the fajitas were larger than usual (which I like) but overcooked, crisp, which did not work for filling and folding. Chicken fajitas are one of Paul's favorites and even he didn't care for them. I also did not care for the salsa they bring out with the chips. Service was very friendly, but we had to wait way too long for a check and finally just had to ask for it. Except for the $1 tacos, we cannot recommend the place, and we won't be back. Looks like the second review came in right after I posted mine. Thinking it might be an employee or one of the owners who saw and didn't like my honest review. But La Cabana needs to make some changes to its recipes and service before it can be one of the Springfield's top Mexican restaurants and compete with the best ones like Tortilleria Perches and Tacos El Gordo, just to name two.

Definitely the best tacos I've had in a while. The restaurant does get busy and quite noisy so if you're sensitive to loud noises, I would bring earplugs to enhance your dining experience. Unfortunately work sidetracked me and I ate lunch late which means that my 6 o'clock dinner reservation with a bunch of friends from church was impacted. Boo to beat laid plans going sideways. Since I didn't wanna miss out on the food and fellowship, I decided to attend my friends dinner and although I really didn't want to eat anything, the smell of the delicious food did invite me in. My smarter and better planned friends enjoyed their food with some ordering food to take home to their hungry spouses while others ate every last bit. I really enjoyed the opportunity to be able to order off the kids menu and add two dollars so that one was not pressure to have a humongous meal although I really wanted to. My one non-Mexican loving food Friend also love the chance to order a hamburger and fries and she was delighted with the opportunity to still come and have a flexible meal plan. Well, this little gem in Springfield in my option might be the best I've tried. We got the carne asada burrito and of course we wanted to try the tacos (asada and pastor). The carne asada flavor was perfect. The quality of the beef was perfection. Not much fat and or chewy part where you either have to spit it out or you have to force swallow. None of that happened with every bite. The pastor (not a pork eater) but I had to try it. It has the perfect crunch and softness. The flavor was well blended. It did not have much cinnamon taste to it. The corn tortillas they use for the tacos was perfect. It's not oily or doubled. The burrito itself was hands down the best! Straight to the point. The service was straight to the point. We didn't wait long at all and everything is made to order FRESH! I had to take home a burrito as we are 7 hours away. We definitely will go back here everyday during our visit to Springfield.
