This is my favorite place to eat in Nixa. Very clean, service is outstanding, always friendly, great food.

I ordered the shrimp chimichanga and what makes a chimichanga is the fact that it is deep fried. This was not deep fried at all, the shrimp was supposed to be deep fried and it had no batter on it or crunch to it at all. The shrimp was soft to the point that I thought it was raw but it looked cooked, the texture was just off. The salsa was warm and the drinks are extremely watered down. The rice was mushy and flavorless but it was oddly vibrant for having no flavor. Very poor quality but for Nixa it's unfortunately a tale that is told over and over again. High quality is hard to come by here. read more

The food tasted burnt. The chips tasted stale and like the oil they were fried in was old. No tortillas were provided for the fajitas. Salsa tasted too bitter. We will not return to this restaurant again. read more

I think this restaurant is the best restaurant in nixa Mexican food wise all the staff are very nice and very kind and the food is just amazing. I haven't had any problems with salt or bad food. I always get treated like a king at the establishment read more

Taco sampler was really tasty. With 3 different taco to eat you really get a variety. The black beans are amazing I didn't like the rice it seemed kinda dry to me. The regular refried beans were a little runny. Otherwise I like it. read more

El Charro Nixa, Missouri was really good food. We were here having dinner with our Missouri Cousins. Our party had 11 people and we sat in a nice room. My wife and I shared the chicken and shrimp fajitas, they were really good. The staff were friendly and helpful. If I lived here I'd be a regular customer. Thank you. This is one great mexican restaurant. The food is excellent, the service is very good, the margaritas are the best we've had in Springfield, Nixa, Ozark and Branson. The decor is okay, but we come to eat really good food. El Charro is in a strip mall so parking is plentiful. Been twice and will go again. read more

With so many locations, we finally decided to stop in and try El Charro. Servers were courteous and prompt and the place was very clean. We received chips & salsa as soon as we were seated. Sadly, the chips tasted like they were from a bag and weren't warm. They were more 'thick' than thin & crispy. Salsa was very mild - no choice for hot, nor were there any hot sauce bottles on the table. Having spent 13 years in San Diego indulging in authentic Mexican cuisine I'm sure my standards & expectations of Mexican food are probably higher than most. I've been on a perpetual hunt for Carnitas (my favorite) since I got here 9 years ago. They have Carnitas on the menu, but it's not what I'm accustom to. They (and seemingly every place in Springfield) serve Carnitas as "pork tips", and without the peppers & onion. So I ordered fajitas, but with pork instead of chicken or beef. (Wayne got the beef.) One portion would easily have fed both of us. But each meal only came with 3 small tortillas. Our meats (with peppers, onion & tomatoes) came out on sizzling platters, but upon sampling our first bites we learned they had no seasoning. The side plates with our beans, rice, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole were good. In fact the pico de gallo was very good - it had seasoning and cilantro! I wouldn't say it was bad - but I will say it was "lacking". Their daily lunch specials (starting at $4.79) might be a better option than dinner for two at $31.00. One last thought - I wouldn't have asked for a little bowl of salsa verde if I'd known it was going to cost me $1.49... read more

Best as always! I enjoy El Puente but love El Charro. Staff is great, seating is always good, food is always right on point. Even the price points are good! Love El Charro! I've read some of the negative feedback. The few I've read seem completely bogus. I've never had one ounce of issue or seen anyone having one while I was in there. The staff is always, no matter who, very kind and courteous. The food has never "tasted like dirt" ever. Food allergies are not going to wait for someone to verify something. My sister has food allergies and always has her epi pen avail but would never wait to see if she'd been given something she's allergic to before heading out the door to the hospital. While discouraged in reading those reviews, there's always the fact that there's people who you can never make happy and will look for a free meal. This is a great place that I highly recommend. Springfield branches or Nixa branch. They've all been consistently good. read more

I thought the food was surprising very good. Staff was very nice and take out was speedy. I will definitely go back . Little patio out front looks fun for drinks. Try cheese dip. It is a white cheese dip that is great with a little hot sauce in it. Need a little fun music to really kick this place up ! read more

This is easily one of my favorite restaurants in town hands down. They are ALWAYS polite and have our food out within 5 minutes after I order. Along with these things the atmosphere of the whole place ties along with the food so well. I would come here over so many other places 100% of the time I go out to eat. read more

This place is fantastic and my favorite of all of their locations (and I've been to them all, including the one in AR.) I almost always get the beef fajitas, but I have tried other things too. The beef fajitas are seriously amazing though! The service is also great at this location. I've never run in to a rude or snotty waiter or waitress here. And I am kind of a germaphobe, yet I have never ran into anything there that has made me second guess eating here. The bathrooms are always spotless, the floors always look super clean, and I have never gotten a dirty glass, dish, or piece of silverware and never sat in a sticky booth or gotten a crusty high chair like you find at a ton of restaurants. I also have never had to send anything back to be fixed because it didn't come out right. And everything is always ready almost as fast as fast food! Anyway, if you haven't tried them before, I suggest you do...like right now. You won't regret it! read more

Let me start off by saying that I am a lover of local businesses and chose to patronize El Charro because I wanted to show my home-town support. Upon walking in, the greeting was... alright, lighting was poor, and the drab environment was overwhelmed with the sound of crying children and dim fluorescent lighting. Sadly the best part of my meal was the chips and salsa; The chips were crunchy and bland instead of crispy and salty and the salsa tasted canned. I placed an order for the El Charro Special which comes with one chicken enchilada, one chicken burrito, and guacamole with red sauce, pico and lettuce on top. The red sauce was atrocious, and I did my best to remove the majority of it. Eventually I gave up on my Mexican redemption conquest and paid the check with few bites eaten. I will not be returning and will be a continuously faithful patron to El Puente. read more

Without question this was the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. I ordered tacos, and the shells were terribly stale. They tasted like pre-made shells that were heated in the microwave. The ground beef filling was tasteless and so watery it had soaked through the bottom of the taco when it was served, making it mushy. The chicken filling wasn't as bad, but it was barely okay. The worst part of the meal was the chips and salsa. The chips were seriously overcooked, to the point of nearly being burnt. The salsa had an off flavor; it tasted like it might have gone bad. I was afraid to eat it. I left most of the meal untouched. I seriously don't know how this restaurant stays in business-they were practically empty at the lunch hour. I recommend avoiding this place like the plague. read more
