Found some Octonuts Herbes de Provence California almonds and Michael Mina green olives for a steal of a price, and I checked expiration dates and they were far in advance too. This Bakersfield location was very spacious and super clean inside, with all sorts of selection and deals for high quality stuff like hair/body care items, over the counter health items, and of course food. Service is friendly and staff seemed to be in good spirits working as a team. Happened to come across this location while needing to charge the car in the morning. The last Grocery Outlet store I went to was in Redwood City (CA) a few years ago and that store looked pretty bad, but whoever owns and operates this Bakersfield location should be commended!

First, the former owner retired who was so very accommodating and friendly as well as her staff...all of whom would bend over backwards to assist customers in any way. Now? Oh, well, sort of...but it's the disgusting music they are BLARING in that store! The former owner NEVER did that. She respected the delicate human ear (which so few do these days). It was incredibly difficult just to concentrate on what I was looking for because studies have repeatedly shown that blaring music is a significant distraction to concentration and causes disruption to the nervous system and can cause a heart attack (just ask any paramedic - they'll tell you it's true). Secondly, they've moved everything from where it used to be and it also appears that the numerous "healthier" choice items (such as Miss Jones Smart Sugar) are no longer being carried. So disappointing. This includes the organic vegetables the former owner used to stock - and it was quite noticeable that this outlet's current vegetable (and fruit) prices were retail...all the way around. Again, extremely disappointing. Third thing was how filthy the cart was that I had to put my items in to to take out to my car. Oh my, DISGUSTING! Gag me gross it was that dirty. Why? Maybe it was just a fluke? And I'm hoping that it was, because dirty carts often can lead to bringing home eColi organisms which make you deathly ill. (Just ask someone like myself who has had it...). Fourth thing was that I felt very disrespected by the cashier (who was young) when this individual intentionally pushed their way in front of me saying 'excuse me' (of course) in an effort to camouflage her disagreement of my exclamation of the DISGUSTING MUSIC. Guess this isn't a place I will be frequenting very often any more, ya think??? How about you? Will you after reading this review? I do hope so, because everyone experiences things differently, but sadly, my experience left a very very bad taste in my mouth, my ears, and my groceries!!!!!!!!

The man behind the counter appeared bothered we were in the store, he did not greet us or offer help. He continued to talk to someone on the phone using his earbuds. When asked a Question he would reply with a dismissive tone, again felt like we were keeping him from his phone conversation. When asked if the sweets were fresh we got neither a yes or no. Overall, the experience was uncomfortable and not welcoming. We would only visit this store if we absolutely have to.

There's not a huge parking lot, but I've never had an issue. People usually pop in and out. It's pretty standard little market, where you can find tons of meat options! As soon as you walk in you can smell them. Their slogan is "You Buy. We Fry." So the frying part is free of charge! Aside from their meat counter, they have several aisles of canned goods and snacks. There's also fresh fruits at the back. I love getting a cold drink while waiting for them to fry the fish. The fish comes out smelling good and tasting fantastic. Highly recommend!

So, a few of my coworkers were talking about this place and I was in shock to know that this place was sitting here in Bakersfield. I seriously went crazy in this store and bought over $40 worth of candy for Halloween and everyone that Trick-or-treated in my neighborhood this past Halloween told me that my house was their favorite house haha. They literally have any Mexican candy that you can think of and I think I may have found my new favorite Mexican candy here which is the round little puparindo bolas... bomb!!!! Don't get me wrong those fresa tamarindo balls are up there too... but I can always get both and still win here. So happy to have been informed about this place so I don't have to wait for a relative or coworker to go to Mexico to get my Mexican candy fix anymore and it's super affordable. While I don't do my regular Asian grocery shopping here, it has definitely saved me on more than one occasion when I've needed a specialty ingredient in a pinch. The biggest downside for me is the pricing. Compared to the markets I shop at in Koreatown when I'm in Los Angeles, many items here are significantly more expensive. Because of that, I usually stock up during my trips to LA and only stop by when I need something quickly and don't want to wait. On my most recent visit, it was nice to see that they had received a healthy shipment of fresh vegetables. I was able to pick up ingredients for making kimchi, and I also found milk buns, which was a pleasant surprise.
