Fajita steak Taco Salad
Chandler J.

I came here with a group of five around lunch time and they were very accommodating. We were sat down at a large table and served drinks and chips and salsa almost immediately. The chips were super good and hard to stop eating. We also ordered some queso which was good but very runny so it didn't cling to the chips that's well. I ordered one of the combos with a chicken quesadilla, Cole rellenos, and rice. The quesadilla was even I wanted from one of my favorite dishes; cheesy, delicious chicken, and nice flaky tortillas. The rice was cooked really well too. It was my first time trying chile rellenos but iI enjoyed that too. I love peppers so this was a tasty option I never knew about but was glad I chose. The cheese was super melty, and the pepper had great taste. I just wish it was a bit more crispy on the outside. The other picture included is of the dish my friend ordered. She got a taco salad with steak and said it was delicious. Based on the look of it I'd have to agree. I was a bit jealous when I saw hers come out but we definitely all enjoyed eating here. Highly recommend.

The food is decent, but definitely not my favorite. It took our server until well after we got our food to find a booster seat for my granddaughter.

So good I forgot to take a picture of the food!

I have zero ideas why other people have said negative things about this place... is it super fancy? no is it a place to take a first date? no but do they have magical food for a reasonable price? oh hell yes. its a delicious hole in the wall. eat there when you are hungry and not trying to be pretensious.

Mmm dang good

Service is great, a little language barrier but not too bad. Food is the shinning light here! Place is not much from outside but once inside it really looks good. The house salsa has slight heat but I love it! Add salt to the chips and boom great freebie. The large margaritas are huge byw

Casa Mexico - Cancun Platter! So good! Shareable plate for certain. Food came out quick and good prices.

It is very large, and she liked it. I ordered the half size quesadilla with chicken. Both dishes were served with shredded chicken. I'm not sure if grilled chicken was an option or possibly available at a higher price. But, the only thing I would recommend is more flavor/seasoning in the shredded chicken. Our table did not have silverware, but we just grabbed it off another table. And, the waiter brought extra napkins without us having to ask. Music was playing in the restaurant, but we were also seated near an employee on break who was blasting music and not using headphones. It was hard for us to enjoy our dining experience listening to two different songs at the same time for 15 minutes. But, this can easily be corrected by having employees use headphones or not play loud music during their break.

Casa Mexico is a tasty place to grab lunch or dinner in Independence. We enjoyed our lunch: beef…read moretaco salad and Pollo fundido (grilled chicken over a bed of rice with queso on top). We also ordered a side of chips and salsa. The taco salad had very fresh ingredients mixed in the crispy taco bowl/shell. The pick up time was incredibly quick and the food was ready to grab and go when we got there. Although we got the food to go, the service was friendly when we ordered and paid. There was plenty of seating and the restaurant looking very clean!

The Atmosphere - There is a some personality here! This location has some Southwestern motifs and…read moreit looks like a Mexican restaurant (at least one in the Midwest) is supposed to look like. Inside it is very functional yet still has padded booths, a nicely tiled bar with lots of light effects and a more comfortable atmosphere to dine in. This place does a lot to exhibit that they want customers to come in and dine and stay for a few drinks. Only downside... It was freezing! The two tables near me continually talked about how cold it was and I didn't even take off my sport coat to eat because it was cold inside. Now to be fair it is spring as I write this and no one has their settings for A/C or Heat set correctly yet. But, for now... 3 stars The Staff - I didn't see much staff, but, it was lunchtime so maybe there weren't that many working yet. The gal that showed me to my table was very nice. And the one who took my order was quick and efficient but that was the only time I saw her. A cook from the kitchen brought me the hot plate of food. And the gal that seated me is the one that checked to see if I needed anything else and brought me the check. Polite and Nice... not necessarily friendly. 3 Stars The Food - I ordered one of the lunch plates. The burrito and a taco with refried beans. Both the burrito and the taco were ground beef. Their flavor was good. I felt that the meal lacked a little pizzazz but was generally tasty. Chips and salsa were also included and while both were good... they were just good. Solid 4 stars for the food. Overall - This place was fine for lunch. I will try to see if I can have dinner here some time to get a more comprehensive feel of the place. For now I think they are going to sit at 3 Stars. Nothing wrong with this place. But, no story or anything drastically outstanding and memorable.

The decor is a total throwback to Nickelodeon's show Guts from the 90s. Even if it isn't intentional, I retro-loved it. The salsa is smoky and a little spicy and pairs perfectly with their thin crispy chips. I've been to MANY Mexican restaurants in my lifetime, and this is probably the best salsa of this style I've ever had. For my entree, I tried something I've never even heard of. Carne en su Jugo is steak with beans in tomatillo based soup. Honestly I was shocked. It was delicious, spicy, full of flavor and so simple but extremely well done. With this chilly weather, it warmed me up in the best of ways. I could only finish half of it and I am so excited to finish it for lunch tomorrow. Unfortunately, the tortillas are not made in house. I would love to see more restaurants doing this. Our waitress was attentive and kind, bringing beverages and checking on us with appropriate frequency. We will be back, and frequently!
