I just want to say how thankful I am for El Lago Apartments here in McKinney. My situation isn't exactly standard, and they really worked with me through everything. They showed understanding and patience when they didn't have to, and that meant a lot. The apartment itself is great -- clean, quiet, and comfortable. But what really stands out is how they handle things. Anytime I've had a maintenance issue, it's been taken care of quickly. The maintenance guy has always been polite, respectful, and easy to talk to. No attitude, no dragging things out -- just gets it done. It's hard to find places that treat you like a human being instead of just a lease number. I'm genuinely grateful for the way they've handled my situation and how smooth everything has been. I submitted maintenance requests regarding a leak under the bathroom sink and electrical outlets that weren't working. Maintenance staff (Hilberto) fixed both issues quickly and efficiently on the business day after I submitted the requests and he was very professional and friendly. The apartment complex is clean. You always see maintenance about picking up trash. They actually keep their dog stations filled with bags and have a good amount of stations available. The leasing office is nice and helpful. The apartment complex is quiet and my neighbors are great. I've not had any issues with pest in a first floor apartment. Would highly recommend. read more

The worst experience dealing with them! So I signed a 6month lease from January to June. In April, they sent a letter about offering to extend my lease. Not knowing I thought I would have to give a 30 notification, but the letter say you will need to put in a 60 day notice before moving out. I so when May came, i mentioned it to the manager and she said there's not she can do. So she put me down July 21 as the move out date. That's the 60 day notice. Oh ok, June came and then July. I paid my last month which was June and then I paid the prorated amount for July. I had no problem with paint or carpet or anything. Me and my wife clean and mop and dust the whole apartment. It was cleaner after we left then when they gave me the keys to it in January. Now they trying to charge me additional 433.53 for earlier move out! A carpet bill of 118.00 to clean when nothing was spilled on the carpet which is only in the bedroom. I never did eat or drink in. How is that moving out early when you pick the date and I paid for July! They are scammers! read more

My family and I have lived here for nearly three years. Its an apartment, not a five star hotel. But it's been great to us over the years. Just this week, the same week of the snowpocalypse, our refrigerator was giving us problems. Within two hours of the work order, maintenance came by. An hour after that I get a knock on the door and they said we were getting a new fridge in five minutes. That's how most of our work orders to. Very quick service and communication is awesome. We've only visited the pool a few times but have never had any issues. The gym is your standard apartment gym. It gets the job done. We also happen to have a great unit. In the corner with no neighbors except the one above us. Parking isn't an issue for us since we have a garage and can park our second car behind the car. read more

We are moving to a house at the end of November. We have lived here for 2 years, and as we have had our ups and downs with the property, there has been one constant. Joe, in the maintenance department has made our stay pleasant. I had an emergency Saturday Sinks in the kitchen clogged. No one came so I had to deal with it myself. Put a service order in for exterminator over a month ago for roaches. Beware - These apartments are run by a tyrant who will change your lease whenever she feels like it. We've lived here for eleven years and seen more managers come through here than the Defense Against the Dark Arts post at Hogwarts (I.E. The job is cursed). The management were supposed to give us 30 Days Notice to clear out our garages because they have decided after several years now that each family is only allowed ONE garage, regardless if you're paying for them. How many days notice did they actually give us? 7 days. 7 days to clean out two garages filled with things that came from my dead grandmothers house, things that we didn't get a chance to go through. When I say they have the best maintenance team ever... any problem is addressed right away and on the off chance they can't come out the same day, they'll still call and check in with you to make sure it's not an emergency. The girls in the office are all nice (Alex and Kristyna have been really helpful) and there's always someone driving around on a golf cart so it feels safe. Before we took possession of the apartment there had been an infestation of roaches. We were told by management it was so bad that we had to wait a full three weeks to move in. We demanded a change of location to a different building. There are parking problems especially going toward the back of the apartments. My vehicle was vandalized, and the management's garage which was next door to me was burglarized. Their security gate never works, which allows anyone to get into the apartments. Not safe at all. Their facilities more than half of the time aren't open or don't work. Dog feces are everywhere, and management is horrendous and unhelpful. The community is only as good as the people who live there. Check out the community between 9 pm to 1 am. Completely and totally awful. Thank God we signed a 6-month lease. Got out right in time. We moved here a few months ago. I love these apartments! Murphy is the manager now and she is awesome. Ashton the assistant manager has been supportive and patient. Anything I've brought to them they bend over backwards to get done. We had small maintenance issues when we moved in. They have been here the same day and fixed them immediately. I know several of my service staff by name and they always say hello when I'm out. The office staff Shay, Deborah and Kristyna have been so kind and helpful. Everyone is always so friendly. We moved to these apartments because of the great prices and now we love it because of the staff also! We have made friends with our neighbors here. Pros: They always send someone super fast if something goes wrong or breaks. They've always been very helpful and punctual. Our appartment is nice, great view, and I LOVE the carwash on site. What a joke! Honestly where do I begin about my absolute disgust with this management team? The complex is filthy and they let anyone/everybody live there. We had drug dealers living on the bottom floor but management doesn't care. Forget about calling on any issues or repairs because management doesn't like to answer their phones or return phone calls. It took me an average of 4 times to call and leave a message before I heard anything back. The lost my rent check on the first month when I handed it to the manager and blamed me for not paying. I should have known that my awful experience would just go down hill from there. The entire staff is so rude. After 3 attempts to talk to the manager about not wanting to renew our lease, since she wouldn't get back to us, our lease got extended by an extra month and a half. we moved out, after paying in full, three days early AND got charged with an additional $97!!! WTF?! This place is not worth the price and not worth your time. I've lived in several apartments and have never been treated like this before. It truly is a joke and the entire management team should be fired. They do not look out for their tenants or their well being. They are just money hungry assholes. My furnace stop working and I woke up to a 65 degree temperature, I stopped and told management and maintenance was there shortly after to find out the problem. The damage was found and corrected and my heat was back on shortly thereafter. El Lago has always been responsive to my requests. read more

My friend lives here and she says that the management company takes a few days to respond to repair requests. The grounds are always clean and they have a model unit that is available to rent on a nightly basis for out of town guests. (which I think is pretty awsome!) read more

This is honestly the worst apartment complex I've ever lived in. I lived in college station, which was student living, which was way better than this. It always smells like weed here, my car has been keyed, neighbors are rude and call a noise complaint for everything even when you aren't doing anything. People threatening you, car break ins & have had several people trying to break into my apartment. Cars speed through the complex playing loud music. The parking here is absolutely horrible, literally there is never any parking. People hopping the fence to get into the complex. Several people getting chased down here, along with police officers being here often. Management does not answer or return phone calls. I wish I would have never signed a lease here. This complex has made me hate McKinney in general now. I don't have one positive thing to say about this place. I have to give it a rating to post this but this place doesn't even deserve one star. read more

I have had a terrific experience at El Lago. The management is friendly and courteous as well as professional. I would recommend this community to any of my friends or associates. When I first moved here, the response to a small question I had about maintenance was immediate and the maintenance man was trustworthy and very friendly. I feel secure living here and I love my apartment. The children have been no problem and my neighbor introduced himself to me immediately. The grounds are well kept and I see personnel in the golf carts waving and talking to the other residents here. I truly love it here and will most likely stay a very long time. read more

Ok. So if you are thinking about staying here, BEWARE! The onsite staff in my opinion is more concerned about what's in your lease rather than listening or caring about it's residents. We had an incident where one of managers onsite was extremely discurteous to my wife. She walked up 3 flights of stairs knocked on our door and began to yell at my wife for something very minor in nature. I have never been so shocked by a lack of professionalism. It was so bad that my wife called me AT WORK and asked me to come home because she was crying!!! Also, before we even entered our apartment we were told certain things that would be included in our rent and come to find out that it doesn't matter what they say its what's in the fine print of the lease...that they continue to point out. It didn't matter who I talked to up the chain of command...because nobody actually cares (in my opinion)! To make matters worse... I feel you can forget about EVER seeing any of your deposit you initially put down! In our case, we put down a $300 deposit and they ended up charging us nearly $200 in extra costs above and beyond that deposit! The prices they end up charging you for minor items are way out of line and if so much as anything you own is not covered in plastic....well...in my opinion you can expect some type of fee when you move out for just having "lived" there. I think they actually like sending residents a BIG BILL after they have moved out when they have already paid HARD EARNED dollars to live there! We didn't stay for long, but it was long enough to be the worst apartment I have ever lived in! The property is actually nice and has amenities, but the on site staff and management team all the way up the chain of command (at the highest levels) in my opinion need to be replaced! read more

The parking it's a big issue, but the worst of all and more important it's the service in the leasing office, I have a year living in here and at the beginning one lady was super helpful and kind, but after she went, the new person in the position wasn't competent, and deal with the managers was awful. Those two ladies are rude, aggressive and even racists. We went for help and information about the notice for not renewal again here and all that we receive was threats and intimidation. Good morning, I seriously need an URGENT response from the managers of the "El Lago apartments" complex in San Antonio, Texas. we can not communicate with them at any time of the day, we have left many voice messages but they do not return the call, we moved from El Lago apartments, less than 1 month ago, we received a letter that we must pay an amount, with what we do not agree, since we take care of the conditions of the apartment for more than a year, however, we have proofs videos and photos that we took the same day of our move, and we also have proof of the orders of repair that we made 2 days before our move, the letter tells us that in the disposer there were "glasses" but it turns out that the maintenance man did not see anything wrong and he repaired and worked perfectly, as well as other damages that they want to collect, They want to take our deposit and also want to charge a ridiculous amount, I try to communicate every day to discuss this and show them my tests, but I can not communicate with the number they sent in the bill, I DO NOT I want to damage my credit history just because they do not answer the TLF, it's not fair. what they do to the clients is not fair, because we are honest people, we went to the office of El Lago apartments and they tell us that they have nothing to do, that we have to call the number sent to us by the managers of San Antonio Tx . Every apt complex has issues but this complex has gone downhill and I feel like I'm living in South Dallas. There are bloody brawls at the basketball court, the pool is full of non - residents daily who wear little to nothing in swim attire, smoke marijuana and act like they are attending a spring break party. The McKinney cops visit this complex daily. The kids are allowed to roam the complex and everything that is meant for tenant use, is eventually broken and unusable for a period. The complex does fix the broken things eventually but such should not be broken bc of mischief. Loud music is played by ppl coming and going on the complex. Tenants play their music loudly in their homes too. The rent here is not cheap and the complex itself is nice and provides nice amenities but management is not on top of the crime or noise pollution. Def not a family friendly apt complex for those who work hard and need sleep! read more

I have lived here for over two years. The best thing I can say about this place is that the maintenance crew here is great. Recently, I have gotten calls from management after a maintenance problem to ask if it was completed to my satisfaction, that is a big plus to get that call from them. Honestly, I have not had some of the issues with this place that others have mentioned in there reviews but, I will say the following; parking here is the pits. If you have a visitor and they don't come before 5 PM they are luck to find any spots. For those that have the small back yard patio, you pay a premium for it but it has no grass and gets muddy and is pretty much non useful to anyone since it is in such poor shape. They are updating the apartments as people move out but they won't do any upgrades while you live here. So if you live here you're paying basically new apartment prices without the perks of a new apartment. The counter tops, cabinets,bath tubs, stove and refrigerators are old and outdated. The molding is in poor shape as well. I have priced the newer apartments in the area recently and depending on what you need some are cheaper, the same price or a few dollars more. Before looking at this place you should check the other apartments in the area, you will be glad you did. Last thing, I don't go to the gym or pool anymore. The gym is over run by unsupervised kids and the pool are although very clean has its problems with kids and tenants drinking and smoking weed. read more
