This place was so, so good. Came here with some family specifically looking for mandocas, and they delivered on that front, and every other front. We got all sorts of goodies, from tequeños to pastelitos, to cachapas. Everything tasted great, and any of the sauces that come with each item are a delicious and addictive complement. And they don't skimp on the cheese! The passionfruit juice we tried was great, not too sweet. The staff was so lovely and attentive. The locale itself is very bright, fun, and inviting. We had a great meal and experience here, it was worth the drive. I would definitely recommend this place, you're bound to find something you love. read more

Amazing place. Every bite takes you back to Venezuela . I bring my family every time we're in Katy--it's a great way to show my daughter her roots through food. Even if you're not Venezuelan, you have to try it. The food is full of flavor, the service is great, and the meat is cooked perfectly. The triple burger is HUGE if you're hungry. Pepitos, pasteles andinos, and empanadas are all . read more

All very fresh and just damn good food. Cafe sort of place great for a great quick lunch or to meet a friend at. They know what they are doing here. I know it is a chain so don't know about other locations but this one has it down great. read more

The Venezuelan hot dogs were disgusting. Use to be good back when they first open this location in fry and clay. I believe the coleslaw old and left in the freezer premade for days. And to top it off they didn't have hot sauce made. read more

I swear I find the coolest places. What can I say?... it's a gift! This small Venezuelan restaurant is one for the books! I wanted to pick up dinner since the weather has been crappy lately. I was just about to order an arepa but I had to go for something I have never heard of before to see what it was all about... The chicken Pepito it was!!! There was another option for the mixed Pepito.. sounded good but had a yen for chicken. I also ordered their Pabellon empanada.. WOW!! Crispy and warm on the outside.. hot and fresh on the inside. The flavors were amazing as well. The cream sauce that they give you on the side gives it that extra kick. A negative about the pepito is (and I can't believe om saying this) there was way too much Mayo and cream sauce on the sandwich. Made me feel a little sick there was so much.. over powered the sandwich and couldn't finish it. The flavor of the chicken with the crispy French fry sticks were awesome.. definitely wish there was another spicy sauce or some other sort of veggie that could have been on the sandwich to balance the Pepito out. Next time I am definitely getting the arepa! read more

Run ‍ as fast as you can to El Patio at Mason while it's still a soft opening/ the beginning because once everyone gets a taste it's gonna be the best spot in Katy. Adult entrees are from El Kourmet tons of value for the price! I could've eaten a basket of just the tequenos. Lots of vegetarian options and tons of variety through El Patio. The spot is very clean, kids love the playground, music is family friendly. -- at El Patio at Mason. read more

BEST AREPAS EVER! I have had the kourmet burger, cachapa with cheese, empanadas, tequenos, chicha, and of course...the arepas. El kourmet never fails to deliver on fresh and hot food. I can eat here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! read more

If you are in the Katy area aka Katyzuela, The Kourmet it's your place to go for Venezuelan and South American food, they are well known for their burgers, chicken or beef, they are savory, juicy and they come in a pretty good size, Tequeños (cheese fingers) are a must try, the cachapas with cheese (sweet corn pancake) are sweet and tender, you can have them with chicken, pork, shredded beef or plain, anyway you have it you can go wrong with it. Their arepas are the bomb chicken and avocado, beef, pork or ham & cheese, the environment is laid back with a tropical vibe, and what I like the most it's their awesome costumer service, really nice young people that is there to give their clients their best smile and attitude. That's why I'm giving them 5 stars for food, cleanliness and service. read more

This is an excellent small restaurant. You can eat in or take it to go. I am not very familiar with Venezuela food. I asked the nice young lady about the menu. My son has gone there a week earlier and raved about the patacon. I ordered it with sweet plantain and no ham. I sat in and ate it. I should have gone home because it was sooo good that I was talking to myself. The flavors that ran through it was something to talk about. The sauce was sweet but flavorful, the cheese was soulful and brought the sandwich out. And the plantain, which can be ordered sweet or not were perfect. On top of all the the cost was reasonable for lunch. If it wasn't that it was sooo good, I would say you could share. The young lady laughed when I told her how awesome it was. She suggested that I try another item next time that is just as good. I don't know if I can read more

Burgers were better than expected! And BIG!!! The selection of toppings to add is also great and very typical. My kids had hotdogs and they loved them! Definitely will order again on weekends and try new toppings onto already delicious entrées! read more

I frequently visit the nail salon next door and decided to look up their menu online and they have one of my top 5 favorite foods. Arepas!!! I came here with one mission and failed lol. Upon walking in it smelled like sewer, but it still looked clean so I proceeded to order. I got a Patacon. I'd never heard or had one before. It's pretty much a sandwich but they used smashed ripe plantains and fried them, then used them as the bread. I chose the chicken patacon which also had ham. I dined at home but it was still hot by the time I got there. It was so good and sloppy just like a sandwich should be. There was so much in it that I couldn't pick it up and bite. This is not a complaint. I just grabbed a knife and fork to ensure that I got a little of everything with each bite. Next time I'll try really hard to get the Arepas. I hope they are just as good read more

The one-star review is for service. I called to place an order to go and was asked if I could hold for three minutes. A little surprised by the amount of time I was asked to hold, I agreed. I was actually able to drive there in three minutes as I was already enroute, but sat in my car for an additional seven minutes, waiting to see how long it would take someone to pick up the phone and take my order. They didn't even put me on hold. They must have put the receiver on the counter as I could hear everything. After holding for 10 minutes, I hung up and left. If they can't even answer the phone and take my order, how can I expect them to get the order correct? Unacceptable. read more

This was a pretty good burger. It takes forever to come out though (almost a full 30 min). I tried the El Kourmet signature burger. As other reviewers have mentioned, the meat does have a different texture than I was used to, but I didn't mind it. I had about 70% of the burger which was pretty large (at least 1/4-1/3 lb probably?) the first night. On that night I was starving (and the 30 min wait definitely got to me) but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked the sauce which reminded me of a cleaned up "animal style" sauce comparable to In and Out Burgers. The cheese was like the quesadilla white cheese and I honestly didnt mind the ham slice-felt like it didnt add much but it didnt detract anything either. The second night I ate the rest of the burger as a prelude/app before my actual dinner (shrug-dont judge) and it was just OK. Of course this was the second night. Anyway worth a shot. Hubby tried the El Kourmet hot dog, and he thought it was just OK-he likes Five Guys version better. Plus: food truck service was super nice. read more

Very delicious breakfast! The latte was perfect, not too hot and not cold. I had the Cachapa and it was very delicious. The service was amazing, I was greeted by the owner, the moment I walked in. I'm not coming back. After waiting 30 minutes for our empanadas, they screwed up my order, they gave me almost all, they told me: You have 1 more left, it's in the fryer... came 10 minutes later, We were done with all our food already, and they brought my last empanada and was not what I ordered. I told them and a guy told me: I would change it, but it's almost 10pm and we have to close. They literally gave the empanadas 1 minute ago and he told me that? Wow! For sure me and my friends we are not coming back. read more

This is an apparently well known Venezuelan burger truck, tucked away in Katy. Really great, hearty, meaty burger! We shared one with a side of fries, and were still completely satisfied. I thought it was only a food truck, but to my surprise, I saw that you can order, and go have a seat at the tables they have across the way, and wait for your buzzer to ring. I like that they had Venezuelan sodas, as I had never had one. I can't wait to try more of their stuff! read more

Ive eaten here a half dozen times. They make the best burgers Ive ever had in my life. The triple Kourmet is absolutely amazing. That being said, yesterday my son and I got food poisoning there. We didn't eat anywhere else all day so it was pretty easy to determine the cause. He threw up 4 times during the night and we've had diarrhea for 2 days now. My stomach is still in knots. read more

Me and my husband love the food here, the take-out is pretty quickly and one time I went in to order and it was quick, service was very friendly! read more

I love Venezuelan food; I love it more when it is perfectly prepared. El Kourmet offers that in spades. In the times of COVID-19, it's hard to find a good burger that stands up to the challenges of take-out food. El Kourmet's burgers stand up to the test and get a gold medal. Even our pickiest eater found the combination of crispy shoe string potatoes, deliciously grilled ham, a solid burger patty (none of that pre-made stuff here), and their house-made sauce (yummmmm, fresh herbiness!!!) to be worth praising! While I've had a few of their dishes in the past, the ABSOLUTE STAND OUT DISHES this time were: - Beef empanada; it was perfection of fried dough and properly seasoned, flavored beef - Mixed (chicken and beef) Pepitos; That chicken? I'm going back for that chicken - tender, flavorful, juicy, amazingly delicious and perfectly spiced. If you haven't been, go try it. This is homemade food, made to order. The few extra minutes are worth it! read more

SO GOOD. New to venezuelan food but haven't had anything I didn't like on the menu here, everything has been A+ Especially the cachapa with just cheese. Just wow. Service is a bit slow but totally worth the wait. Portions are massive. Price is a bit high but nothing super crazy. Definitely recommend it. read more

I live 45 min from their location, and I made an order for pick up. I ordered a beef fajita patacón and paid for an extra queso de mano. I picked up my order and this happened: 1. It was not what I ordered. I received a weird chicken party instead a beef fajita 2. The lettuce and tomate in the patacón were old and brown 3. There was NOT extra queso de mano that I PAID EXTRA I decided to contacted the place to let them know about the issue and what the person on the phone told me was that the manager had told him to only reimburse me the extra queso de mano that they never included on my order. Frustrated, I expressed the person on the phone WHY should I pay for something that you do not wanted to buy? Also, I'm pregnant and they put on my not cheap patacón decomposed vegetables that can affect me and my baby. Additionally, I told him we just want to support local businesses, and I mentioned him about a very bad and disgusting experience that I had several weeks ago when I found hair on my empanada that the same place and location in Fry. Road. He took my email and says he will contact the manager again to see what they can do, but I never receive a call back nor any money back for the food I paid and they never included in my order. I am wondering how the healthy and safety standard for their customers are.... I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE yo pay expensive food to received decomposed food that can cost your health and THEY DO NO read more

The first time I went to that place.hamburger had very good flavor but the second time I went there the hamburger did not had Flavor

Not impressed with this place at all. I looked at all the reviews and decided to try it out. Regret my decision. Had the Kourmet burger and it was dry and had no taste at all. Could not even finish it. Filled with patato sticks which were salty and way too many. Egg was lacking any flavor and a waste of space as well. Fries were mediocre. Staff wasn't very friendly. Maybe because I didnt speak Spanish or was not Venezuelan. I'd avoid this place. Not going back. High prices. Lack luster presentation and seating. There was a fly flying around I had to swat away constantly. Dont believe the hype!! Go to Rocos!! Way better staff and food million times better! read more

Good food, poor service... I had order a cachapa with cheese and meat for takeout over the phone. I go pick it up; and when I arrive home I realize they have give me a cachapa with just cheese (not a big deal, but I was disappointed) I decide to give them a call and let them know. (I assumed it wouldn't be a big deal to make this right...I live about 5-7mins away from them, I'm not bothered about having to go and pickup another one) SOoo the lady that took my order is the one that answered the phone. Her idea for making the right was..next time I order a cachapa to order it w/o cheese and remind them that they owe me meat for free...so basically I have to buy another cachapa to make this right......and her attitude was just horrible and not wanting to make things right to me (the customer). At this point I am no longer upset by the "missing meat" but of her attitude. She wanted me to go back with the cachapa so the could just add the meat...I insisted that I wanted a new warm one with meat. She said she could not do that (her manager nor the owner where present) and sh can not make that call...by just giving me a new without charge; that would cause there "cachapa inventor" to be off and she would get in trouble by the owner...I told her that the owner would probably prefer to lose a cachapa over losing a good reputation... after the back and forth she finally said "FINE, but I am going to get in trouble"!! I go pick up the cachapa with meat and return the one with out meat....she didn't want to show her face..not even an apology. I really enjoy the food here and it's nice that it's so close to home. I would really hate to see this place go just because of poor customer service! After reading other reviews this seems to be a common problem! The owner really needs to step it up with his staff and give them better training...he/ she has really come a long way from just have a food truck to now have 2 nice restaurants with great food; can't let the employees just throw away all the hard work away read more

My friends are annoyed with me. For the last hour I have been sending them text messages about how they need to drop what they are doing and try this place out!! I had the Kourmet burger (minus the egg) and it was one of the BEST burgers I have had in a long time....and then there are the fries. The Kourmet Fries.....are covered in bacon and this sauce that is so amazing that I want to replace my blood with it! Couldn't finish it all, but God I tried! And for only $3.99 for the fries and $7.99 for the burger!!! You don't find prices like that for food this good anymore.
