Everything in this store I would love to own and everything is reasonably priced. The girls that work here are all so friendly and helpful. They also have a store in Columbus, MS. I bought some great items and can not wait to go back and shop when I go back to visit my school.

I visit a lot of thrift shops, because I read a lot and I'm a cheap bastard. This joint has one of the best selections of used books that I've seen anywhere, from Atlanta to Florida. The books were cheap...50 cents, if my memory serves. I didn't ramble around much, other than the book section. I had stuff to do and just wanted to find some books. But you'd be short-changing yourself if you like to read and don't visit this place and buy something. It's for a great cause and you should always support your local businesses. Just don't think about the dirty fingers of whoever read that used book the last time. They probably licked their fingertips before they turned every page.

In all my years living in Starkville, I've never had an issue returning an item and receiving a…read morerefund--until I purchased a pair of On running shoes from this location. I bought them on April 17th and wore them for only 2-3 days before realizing they caused discomfort in the soles of my feet. I checked my receipt, which stated that I had 7 days to return the item, so I returned on April 21st. However, I was told I couldn't return them because I had worn them, and the store needed to "contact On" before proceeding. This didn't make sense to me--there was nothing wrong with the shoes physically, and they were in the same condition as when I bought them. I simply didn't like how they felt, and I was within the return window. The staff gave me the runaround and were generally unhelpful, except for a kind associate named Blakely at the Tupelo location who empathized with my situation. Ultimately, I wasn't able to get a refund--only a store credit for the value of the shoes. I had to repeatedly follow up on my own, calling almost daily to speak with Bo, the manager, as no one ever reached out to me with updates. I've spent nearly $400 at this store in total, but after this experience, I won't be shopping here again. If you're considering purchasing On shoes, I strongly recommend buying directly from the brand's website instead of from a small boutique with high prices and an inflexible return policy.

Some unique things. Great service and selection. I generally stop in when I'm in town.read more

Deep South Pout recently relocated from downtown into the shopping center next to the mall. I hate…read moreto see yet another business leave downtown, but it is closer to me now, so that's good. They have the best selection of trendy boutique clothing in Columbus. My experience shopping in stores like this is that the clothing is trendy and inexpensively made. I think that's fine, as long as you don't plan on wearing anything from here for the next 10 years. It won't be in style then, anyway. Many of the items here can be found in similar boutiques in college towns or online. I have a friend who owns an online boutique who frequently buys clothing from "the best seller list". I guess this "list" is something shared by boutique owners, and apparently DSP shops from the same list. I often see the same things for sale at her online store and at DSP at comparable prices. The new location is nice. It looks empty to me. Not sure if that's because they downsized their collection or because the new location is larger. In any case, I like shopping here. Cute clothes and accessories. Nice sales people. Thumbs up.

Since their relocation and change to a "furniture & antiquities store," they've gone downhill. First, they only have a few true antiques scattered around the store, and the majority of them aren't for sale. If they are for sale, they are overpriced. They were asking $35 for one mass-produced magazine from the 1930s that isn't even worth $5 seeing as to how it was in awful condition, and it's an easily attainable magazine. Second, I was standing at one of their showcases for 10 minutes before any of the staff came to assist me, despite them both making eye contact with me multiple times. A once great antique mall has turned into an overpriced, "shabby chic" furniture store that isn't worth looking in or buying from. When it was a true antique mall, Beard's used to be one of my favorite places. Now, it's just a disappointment.

My point being that they were not at all swamped with customers requiring assistance. That said, the persons behind the counter were more interested in telling stories about their personal firearms, etc. and everything else, other than offering to assist me. I was disappointed and offended by the way I was disregarded. Over the years I have purchased multiple firearms from this location, as well as thousands of dollars of optics, accessories, ammunition, reloading supplies, and other assorted gear. However, after this, I do not intend to give them another dollar of my hard-earned money. Although I do intend to suggest to all the shooters and hunters I know that they go elsewhere in the future. Very disappointed...
