We just discovered this place. Been there now twice in 2 weeks. Great service, multiple page menu with all the favorites. I love a good Emily Special and this place fixes it up nicely and upon request added some grilled jalapeños to kick it up a notch or two. The birria tacos were served up with a chili broth for dipping and were really good. On the second trip I tried one of the combination platters with a chili relleno, chicken enchilada smothered with a tasty blanco queso sauce and a bean and guacamole chalupa. He got the taco and relleno with rice and beans. Plus the special today was house margaritas for $2.99! We will continue to go through the menu, which includes breakfast items, lunch specials and apparently specials throughout the week. read more

So if you guys read my reviews, you know how I am about Mexican food. And I did not have high hopes coming into a Mexican restaurant in the middle of oklahoma, when I can't even find decent Mexican food in California!!! I'll start off by saying the staff for all super nice, about half the restaurant was full with locals, and had nice decorum. I didn't venture past the entryway to order my takeout plate, but place looked really clean, had TVs everywhere, wasn't too noisy, and everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves!! So I was going to just opt for 2 à la carte cheese enchiladas, because should I dare get a burrito here... But I told myself "dude, you're in oklahoma, don't get all pissy".. so I did just that. I flipped through the menu, I guess they have mariscos as well as Mexican Fare... I just wanted to gander at the burrito section. And I started reading what went in the burritos. I cannot believe my eyes, when I didn't see any burritos filled with rice and beans!!! I saw the burrito that I ordered, it was shredded pork and shredded carne and I asked the girl what went inside, and she said whatever I'm reading on the menu is what's in there. No junk inside!!! Take a gander of my photos!! My food came out super hot, and they even gave me a big bag of chips which I won't eat, I shouldn't have taken them but I didn't know until it was too late. The salsa was pretty damn good. The portion size was perfect for me, but I could see a bigger fella complaining. My burrito muhado took about five or six bites to eat, but like I said it was perfect size for me. It was actually really really good. And if I ever come back here, I'll definitely come back! El Jarocho, I believe that refers to a person from Veracruz Mexico. The menu and the dining environment are straight up small town OkieMex. Enormous options and combinations of lightly seasoned Mexican food fill the menu. You will need to blend up the salsa to a more flavorful heat level. I had a # 20 combo; Relleno and Taco; a great relleno and a large beef filled crunchy taco. My wife had a Tamale Lunch. This was a little unusual. The tamale was covered with ground beef and a very tasty orangish "red sauce." Both great meals served with beans and rice. The service was great, fast, and the food is served on the essential very hot plates. My only negative critique is with the chips. The chips were a little stale and mostly the broken too small to use, chip fragments. El Jarocho is a good solid 4-star small town Mexican restaurant. I LMAO when I read a reviewer's bold assessment, "the food here is not authentic Mexican food." Cheezas, lady, everyone working in the restaurant is Hispanic. Food was good, service was shit !!! They weren't even busy but had to stand and wait to be seated for awhile. Then we finally got drinks ordered. And waited for awhile. We then had to ask if we could get the chips and salsa. Finally they brought that. Got our food and a drink. Was ask later if we wanted another drink. The Mexican food was awesome and the menu is huge! We had enchiladas Oklahoma, enchiladas especial and Mexican dinner. All of it was wonderful, including the guac and we'll definitely be back. Yum! Street tacos and strong margaritas are the answers to all of life's questions. The refried beans are as creamy and delectable as they should be. The salsa is other worldly great, all in all, this is a stop worth making! Convenient located walking distance to two massive truck stops, they still go to a lot of effort to make the dining experience as excellent as possible. Obviously it's immaculately clean. The staff is fluently bilingual, but will sometimes bring a second party along to confirm any elements of your order they arent 100% sure of. Kudos to them for not just making a guess to save face! Asked the girl at the counter if there was a cafe close by, and was told there was a great little Mexican food restaurant across the street. Best suggestion I have ever got from a Dennys worker! This place is located directly across the street from the Flying J truck stop, which means, YES, they DO have truck parking! We ordered our food "to-go", so I can't really review the inside decor, service or anything but the food. The quesadillas were amazing with fresh chicken, vegetables and spicy onions. It came with guacamole and chips with hot sauce. My husband has the California burrito and it came with TWO large burritos that filled my husband up just right. The pork was the best meat there was it was seasoned well the the beef tasted like it was boiled which is disgusting the rib was dry like fried dirt the taco meat was most definitely over seasoned for you can't taste nothing but chili powder and here's the kicker the shrimp was old I have ate many shrimp in my life but this was the worst I knew after that first shrimp there was something wrong with it but I ended up eating them all which was five and I got home and I threw up. Aweful! The food was disgusting. Cheese enchiladas were flat, one thin line of white cheese in it. I asked for double rice. Didn't get it. The red sauce looked like old watery spaghetti sauce. We stumbled upon this gem on an impromptu road trip. Location is easy to get to from the highway Service was incredible fast, our food was ready in about 5 minutes which was impressive considering how busy they were. Everything was homemade, authentic and delicious. The prices were very reasonable as well. Lunch specials averaged about 6$. This place rocks with Mexican authentic, delicious, reasonably price, served very fast, and oh so hot and spicy food. First visit I had a selection of meats plate for $13 (most expensive plate on their menu) accompanied by fantastic refried beans and yellow Mexican rice. Tortilla chips and a red and green chille (salsa) that was delicious as well. Second meal I had the inchelada plate in a white cheese sauce for $8 and it rocked too! You can get chicken, skirt steak (carne assada), or shredded beef and all three are great. The white cheese sauce is very lite and very flavorful. I had one of their traditional sopailpillas drizzled with honey!! Oh myyyyyyyy! Entire families meal was very reasonable, restaurant is clean and service is absolutely stunningly "here it is before you realize you even need it". The other reviewers are right, the food is authentic as is the ambience. We had the Carnitas and Chile Verde, both were excellent. They had vegetarian options, which was pleasantly surprising. We went by El Jarocho two days in a row. We went out to robbers cave and wanted some good food. Since the ratings were so good we went for it. It was awesome! Both of the kids ate their entire meals. Service was prompt and food was hot, just like I like it! We went in the second day after visiting Jelly stone. We were exhausted and tired. It was Sunday and I feared that we would encounter the church crowds, but service and quality of the food did not disappoint. The second day that we went; again the kids ate everything! It was so nice to have a place that was fast, friendly, and consistently good. Prices were fair and parking was plentiful. read more
