Nice spot to enjoy the breeze and sun. The water isn't nice to swim in, and I grew up swimming in the bayous of South Louisiana. I did get in the water some, but I felt kinda gross after. Might have just been me. I saw lots of people get in the water, including kids. The surf was very high when I was there today. The southerly wind and barges passing brought a few wakes all the way up to the grass at the edge of the beach. We had to hold down chairs, tables, and even heavy coolers at times. Just be sure that if the tide is high, have enough people there to hold onto your stuff!

Heaven!! Just love this little Beach. I'm only minutes away now so I visit this little gem of a beach often. So proud of our Texas Beaches and how much better they are becoming.

We saw dolphins while swimming! The beach is gorgeous with a secluded, private feeling. Arrive early to secure a spot. Parking is limited to about 18 spaces. $10 per person charge if you are not from City of Pasadena. Portable restrooms available.

It's 7 o'clock and very empty.

Really nice beach, but it's rarely open to the public. I wouldn't waste time driving here because it will more than likely be closed.

Not so secret. Entrance fee is good enough to keep out the undesired. Easy for them to sneak in though. Parking lot is home base...

Tide was very high coming in, never seen the water so close to the cars. But I wouldn't dare drive a car on that sand. I see people get stuck all the time. It's regular parking at the entrance tho. I love how clean it is and they passed out trash bags to each car. New (not fun) fact... it's rattle snakes at surf side.

This is very dog friendly and you can pull your car right up to the beach. You do have to keep your dogs on a leash as there are people circling to make sure that you do. I just bring a really long leash for them to be able to run around. My dogs like to run into the water so i have a long leash. Only downside is they don't have really plush sand. So if you go to the beach for the fluffy sand, this is not the place to go. But if you want no nonsense hassle or you don't have to carry all of your stuff miles to the beach just to find a good spot then you would like this beach. Note: there is free parking but we just ended up paying the $15 a day parking because we can pull right up on the beach. They do have an annual option to pay $30 for the whole year which I do think it's worth it if you go more than a couple times a year.

The headquarters is located on the beachside and that's where we checked in. There is a bayside post with a nature center, but both were closed when we went. We were given a trail map and recommendations on which trails to check out. All the trails are mowed regularly and we didn't see any trails with overgrown grass or brush. However, some trails can be flooded or under water because of where they're located. There is a boardwalk that crosses open water but the boards didn't look stable. There was another boardwalk that was washed away from the last hurricane and hasn't been repaired yet. We were able to see a few different kinds of birds on a quiet and relaxing Thursday morning. The beach was clean and didn't have many people there. There are multiple access points to the beach from the day-use parking lot and the nearby campsites. Their gift shop offered a variety of souvenirs for purchase and the ranger was friendly when we asked her questions. We enjoyed our time and think it's a worthwhile stop to enjoy the hiking trails and beach without crowds.

While the lagoon itself is nice, it didn't quite live up to what we had envisioned. It felt more like a very upscale neighborhood pool with some fun features -- which would've been fine had we gone in with that mindset. The atmosphere was more of a party vibe -- loud, crowded, and high-energy -- which wasn't what we were personally looking for. I had hoped for a more relaxing experience, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Considering the price, I didn't feel it was worth the cost. The cabana rentals were surprisingly expensive -- even more than what we've paid at actual beaches, like in Cozumel. The highway visible in the background also took away from the overall ambiance. In the end, it just wasn't the right fit for our family. For the price, I'd prefer a beach day or a quieter pool where we can truly unwind.

The crowd was mostly families, but you could go as an adult group or even solo. Glad they have a pretty large parking lot, so no stress on that. Came here for the first time on a bright Saturday AM at about 9:50a. Place opens at 10a. Come earlier than that, because others do too, and the line moved a little slow. They have a bag check you have to pass through first. Then you get back in line and go to the window, show your ticket, and/or buy your ticket. Then get your wristband. And then walk in. So you can only bring in what they allow, boooo, check their website for what they allow and dont allow before going. But I will say, the bag check was kind of light, IYKYK. Agree that the best move is to come early to snag a lounge chair with an umbrella. Umbrellas seem to be few and far between, but if you get there early, you should be able to get one. It doesn't seem worth it to rent the expensive cabanas, even with a group. We saw some groups doing it, not sure if they actually had paid the $300 fee, or were just squatting there until they got caught. I liked that they had a bar with some beer/cocktail options, so they place is adult friendly and kid friendly, lol. They have a food menu too, since you can't bring in food. I didn't order anything, but my friend really enjoyed her burger. They also had a few food trucks as well. That day, they were actually having a Pirates and Mermaids themed day. There was a Pirate folk band playing on their mini stage for a few hours. After that, they had a good playlist jamming on the loud speaker. The actual pool of the lagoon is divided in half. One half is for people to swim. The other half is for the water equipment rentals like the kaiyaks etc. We got to enjoy some stand-up paddleboading. That was fun. The water equipment rental is for 30 min at a time. Besides the wild rowdy kids surrounding us, we had a fun experience.
