They do charge to come in but only in the weekends. The gazebos seemed recently built and they were really nice. There's no actual bathroom anywhere so be ready to use the portable restroom they have all along the road. They weren't as bad as I was expecting so that was a plus. This is very dog friendly and you can pull your car right up to the beach. You do have to keep your dogs on a leash as there are people circling to make sure that you do. I just bring a really long leash for them to be able to run around. My dogs like to run into the water so i have a long leash. Only downside is they don't have really plush sand. So if you go to the beach for the fluffy sand, this is not the place to go. But if you want no nonsense hassle or you don't have to carry all of your stuff miles to the beach just to find a good spot then you would like this beach. Note: there is free parking but we just ended up paying the $15 a day parking because we can pull right up on the beach. They do have an annual option to pay $30 for the whole year which I do think it's worth it if you go more than a couple times a year.

The pier is fairly new and the views are beautiful. Parking is a little bit skeptical at first but I parked in a location where I could easily see if my car was alright. I would go with a friend next time to be safe. I had to keep looking behind me often to make sure there wasn't anyone crazy walking up behind me but maybe that's just the paranoid person that I am. :) Awesome fishing spot. I saw a lot of birds landing in my location during my visit so there's definitely fish here. I saw about three 3 ft long fish swim by me while I was out there. Crabbing is decent. Went around October 2018 so not as big as I'd like. You may need to bring a few traps out there. The small ones hang on longer but the bigger crabs are smarter and swim away as soon as you pull the bait up slowly. Gotta be quick with the net!

It sits behind the old Methodist hospital and San Jacinto plaza. The land is very wide and spacious. The parking lot of the hospital combines with the park. With little to no groundwork. The pavement of the hospital's concrete is almost unbearable to drive across due the excess amounts of potholes lurking. People flee across the parking lot to make it to work or drop their kids off at the only nearby establishment 'still in business'. A daycare which is proximal to the park. A pleasantly wooden pier lies along the trails which leads out to the brackish waters. A flow of fish repeatedly hop from wave to wave. I reckon there's alligator gar in this briny Adam's ale besides catfish, seatrout, and blue crab. The graffiti-tized or should I say vandalized tables of the pier. Gives to the expression "express yourself". Artistically drawn and tagged of relationships, shout-outs, and lifestyles. Don't forget your sharpie or blade... if you dare. The kind of run-of-mill hang out or fishing spot without encountering a whole lot of people.

There are many baseball and soccer fields located towards the front of the park. Keep driving towards the back of the park if you want to hike the trail. The trail ecosystem ranges from forested cover to open wetlands and winds around a large manmade 1/4 acre lake. The lake provides a nice breeze on a hot day! There are also two small observation decks on either side of the lake to admire the view of the landscape. Included near these decks are informative signs describing the native species to the region. As you round the corner past the lake, there's also a picturesque gazebo to stop and take photos at. This is a great spot to fish. The lake is home to large mouth bass and catfish. There's even a fishing hole built into the boardwalk pier. I do wish there were more maps available throughout the park. There were no maps when we visited indicating how long the trail would be.

Watch out for the dog poop splatter on the boardwalk since we have careless dog owners who won't pick up their dog feces. Overall, a decent park to walk off 4 miles easily.
