Fun place to visit with friends and family. Cool place for a picnic or just taking in the sunset.

It sits behind the old Methodist hospital and San Jacinto plaza. The land is very wide and spacious. The parking lot of the hospital combines with the park. With little to no groundwork. The pavement of the hospital's concrete is almost unbearable to drive across due the excess amounts of potholes lurking. People flee across the parking lot to make it to work or drop their kids off at the only nearby establishment 'still in business'. A daycare which is proximal to the park. A pleasantly wooden pier lies along the trails which leads out to the brackish waters. A flow of fish repeatedly hop from wave to wave. I reckon there's alligator gar in this briny Adam's ale besides catfish, seatrout, and blue crab. The graffiti-tized or should I say vandalized tables of the pier. Gives to the expression "express yourself". Artistically drawn and tagged of relationships, shout-outs, and lifestyles. Don't forget your sharpie or blade... if you dare. The kind of run-of-mill hang out or fishing spot without encountering a whole lot of people.

So I went back in and looked behind the register and boom the worker in a lay back couch with a cover, and 2 heaters on!!! I tapped her 5 times no wake so i recorded her and tapped her 5 more times she woke up confused I said I need some live shrimp she looked around and said we don't have any. I walked off and she says "we have dead ones" I said have a good nap! 0 Star Rate!! Wasted my time and gas didn't get to fish till 8:45am I was mad but do not go here!!!! I recommend Clearlake Live Bait and Tackle 20 min away from them!

Second time i went in in the evening after enjoying the beach i was greeting somewhat rudely by a younger gentlemen. Not friendly at all and couldn't tell me why he wouldn't sell me and my family of 4 bracelets to get on the pier. It was Saturday about 7:15 pm and all he said was.. "we're closing soon" then turned his back on me. I muttered "the sign says all night fishing on Fri-Sat, so what time does the pier close?" I wasn't planning on fishing all night but i did plan on fishing for an hour or so. Next time i'll just go to Galveston.

Unfortunately the small docks that originally were installed for boaters were washed away in floods (or so I was told) but it is still a good place to start boating. Also, unfortunately this park has the same problem that so many others have in the area: unconscionable people who litter and don't take care of the porta-potties. Wish these people would either become responsible for their own actions or just stay away.

I've been there at 7:30 to park and they were just opening, which is a little late when you're a slow runner and trying to get a long run in before the Houston heat. They have a handicapped porta potty, which is sometime clean. I carry baby wipes with me, so if I gotta go, I go. There's a few picnic tables, and I se a lot of people with canoes and kayaks hee. Supposedly there's a trail to a bird blind, but I've never followed it. It's not a place I would linger at for long, but there is a water fountain and a porta potty, and that's super important to me as a runner!
