Churros

This is what I would classify as a HIDDEN GEM. I was in town alone and staying in the area. My Airbnb host recommended this spot that had just opened down the street. WOW. First of all, I love a cute, cozy, place to eat when traveling solo. The vibe is wonderful here, Mexican music, cool art, and candles. Whats not to love? I sat at the bar and the service was phenomenal. They also have a few tables, but it's a tiny and busy place. I started with the house lager because vacation. Next I had the fish tacos (2 in an order) and they were melt in your mouth perfection 10/10! After inhaling those I had to try the sexy birria tacos they are known for. Slightly slower, but I also found those disappearing quickly 10/10! Possibly the best birria tacos I've ever had. I'm pretty full now, but I'd been traveling all day so I ordered the churros to cap it off. YOLO. Pause for droooooool. Delicious churros served hot and delicious. You better believe I ate both of them. At this point I will need to be rolled out of here. If I lived in Toronto, I'd be here all the time!

They have lockers - make sure you bring multiple toonies, since they may not have the change to give you. It's not cheap, but it's worth it to experience a pool bar with views in Toronto. Since it's away from the city center, they can go big with sound. Another convenience is that one event got cancelled because of rain, and they moved us to the space above Rebel. I don't know if they do this with all events, but this was convenient. There is some food being served. I haven't tried it, but at least it's there.

Didn't try any of the food but it looked pretty good, the drinks were great. Bartenders are quick to get you situated, we didn't try renting a cabana. Pool on Saturdays is an additional charge of like $20 CAD ($15ish dollars USD) for Men, on top of already having men pay to get in. Ladies sometimes free before 3pm. Check their website for event details. Vibe was fantastic, DJs playing some outstanding house music sets. Security seems a bit over eager to throw people out though. Don't cause trouble and you'll be fine. I didn't have a single issue. No outside towels allowed, and check their website for the dress code. Pool gets gross after a while so go early if you wanna swim lol.

I was there on a day where they seemed to be understaffed, though. Our server was very nice and full of good recommendations, but had too many tables to keep up. I had a kolsch and the pickle chips. The pickles were tempura battered and surprisingly bland for vegetables that are soaked in brine. The dipping sauce and cold beer made up for it.

We got a text that our table is ready 30 mins later. However, when we checked in, our table was not ready. We waited for 5 minutes until another hostess approached us and she put our tables together. Once we were seated, we weren't even given any menus. It wasn't until 15 mins after that someone checked in on us since she asked if anyone has taken our order, to which we replied we haven't gotten any menus yet. She gave us a few minutes to look through the menu and took our drink orders then food order. We only ordered some appetizers to share. Our drinks took awhile, but once we got it, so did our food. My favorite was the dip trio with pita. Pro tip: mix the dip for some serious flavor explosion.
