Excellent service, food and cozy but elegant space! This is an establishment that does what so many…read moreothers aspire to and few achieve. We arrived for a Christmas night dinner with very few expectations. My what a Christmas gift. My wife and I arrived at 7:30 (I know really early by Spanish standards) to a half full room of diners including families dressed for a special evening, as we were. Shown to our table immediately, seated, allowed a few minutes to settle in before asked for drinks and shown menus. Very easy flow of menus, cocktails, wine list and time to peruse. They offered specials but the head waiter stopped in to offer the kitchen expertise for anything off menu that they might try satisfy. All done with ease and grace. Menu was expansive Spanish/ French with nice selections of seafood and meats. My wife had the lobster Thermidor and I had a fish soup and grilled corvina. We started with fresh bread and butter (excellent olive oil was on the table), a muse bouche of salmon purée, olives, an aioli and carrot/celery. The salmon was nicely done and a good start. The soup came next and was very flavorful and hearty. Nice chunks of seafood. The mains came next nicely timed. The Thermidor was nicely sauced with large chunks and sauce was exquisitely balanced. My wife loved it. My corvina was a a very nice portion. Gilled to perfection on a bed of whipped potatoes, julienne vegetables and delectable sauce. We finished with a goat cheese ice cream. It went well with our remaining cava (the wine list is extensive and heavily Spanish) and a nice cortado. We were given a Spanish cordial on the house that finished the meal. This was the work of a confident and professional kitchen. Service was special. We had at least 2 waiters (both young women) looking after us. They remained unobtrusive but efficient. Smiles and banter when we initiated but very professional. The restaurant was elegant but comfortable,15-18 tables I could see. As we left we were thanked and shown again the kind of genuine hospitality of gracious hosts who were confident and proud of their kitchen and staff and who truly enjoyed their work. I thought $$'s were equivalent to the value received. If you have the opportunity when you visit Marbella/ Estepona or make a special trek to try, I hope you will not be disappointed.

The first few places seemed to be closed (it was a Sunday night) but eventually I found The Farm which sounded solid and looked cute in the pictures. We grabbed an uber with our friends who dropped us "as close as he could get" and we found our way using Google Maps down the pedestrian only areas of town. This was maybe 7:30pm for dinner, which in Spanish time is not the time for dinner, so we had the place to ourselves for an hour or so. We did dine outside on the upper level patio, which was extra charming, and not at all an issue as blankets were provided and there was also a standing heater. My husband, the self-proclaimed biggest fan of Iberico anything, got straight into ordering and I think had at least 4 plates of jamon sent to the table before we cut him off. We finally convinced him to do the Farmer's Tapas plate to add some cheese into our lives. The kitchen also sent out out some absolutely delicious olives and hummus as a snack. Our server "Stefan" (I totally made up that name for him btw because he was Swedish lol) was absolutely amazing. We loved interacting with him, getting his wine recommendations (they were fabulous) and really could have spent a much longer time here just because of him. He's awesome! The one drawback (for some) might be the menu here, which is slightly limited, but I had faith that this meant the kitchen had perfected these dishes, and I was right. After all the light bites to start I was pretty full and opted for the Beet Carpaccio as a main, which was just the right size and light enough for me to steal a few bites of other's food. The Ox Tail in Blueberry Sauce was delightful as was the Paella. Seriously cute place in the area which shouldn't be overlooked.

No Paella here. La Escollera is strictly seafood from what I saw. Because of Escollera's popularity with tourists AND locals alike, it gets busy so have a few things in mind: (1) give your name+last name to the host inside (2) if you can grab a high-top outside, go for it and get a Starter bite while you wait, (3) someone will yell out your last name, then (4) you're in. Attention from all the servers is definitely here and each offered individual tid-bit on what we ordered. Dozen oysters (or "12 pieces") were meaty and juicy with the right amount of oyster liquor. What's more, I know the oysters hubs and I have been getting on the East Coast in the States are good- but these here in Spain's Southern Coast are mind-blowing. Horseradish and mignonette? They're obsolete in these parts. You will get Tabasco as an alternate (for hubs) and some individually-packaged red wine. It did just fine. Prawns were good but the Sardines were excellent with a slightly crunchy-garlicky exterior. The oysters took it a bit over from what we've experienced during our stay. But come to think of it, comparing the quality and straight-from-the-sea catch to the East Coast, they were worth the €54. Skip the juicy-flavored sangria and go for a red or white instead. In essence, it's all about the seafood here.

We ordered a lot of small plates and everything was fresh, perfectly cooked, and well seasoned. While we usually prefer sautéed seafood, the fried squid was exceptional. Don't miss out on this spot! Right by the water, beautiful view.

I have seen staff giving guests up to three towels per person for no real reason at all. My biggest grievances however came from staff comments about the tap water not being drinkable! However when you research the local .gov page I find out that it is completely safe to drink, a blatant lie to encourage purchase of wasteful purchase of plastic bottles! Rather than supplying reusable filtered glass bottles as is the norm! To add to this when sitting outside less than 5 meters from the bar we were served with the attached photo. With no recycling bin in site and put directly into the trash after using, this is disgraceful and I intent to comment to the hotel manager.

Hubs noticed Santiago during one of our beach days at Playa de Venus and vowed to return as a final dinner to celebrate my birthday. And when he looked at the menu, it was a go. Striking interior design with light woods, whites and navy accents set themselves apart from the restaurants on the Avenida Duque de Ahumada strip. Without a reservation, it was no issue and seated outside. Servers were all in attendance and worked jointly. The menu offers Starters, Soups, Salads, Rice, Seafood- of course, meats, Desserts, etc with exquisite taste. The €55 a kilo price on the menu for Centollo (Spider Crab) we ordered was incorrect. Newer and market price is currently €155 per kilo. But I must say, that spider crab dish is the best I've eaten in my life and prepared with a savory cream sauce in the crab's cavity. The only thing that would've made me more happy is ordering more bread and dunking it in the sauce- but I have to consider my surroundings. The only nit-pick we had is that their paella isn't served in the pan like we're used to but instead plated for you. It's very good though. To round out my birthday dinner, hubs ordered a cheesecake on the sly with halved nectarines in a sweet and silky syrup that was delicious. We enjoyed it all.

We got there 15 minutes early to order wine for the table and ordered two of the most expensive wines they had. The waiter brought the wine and it was the last we saw him all night. We asked for water and were brought a small bottle (for seven people). They left it in the middle of the table and after everyone had a sip, we had to get up and walk to another staff member to ask for water for the table (which came another 30 minutes later). Another table for 7 came in 30 minutes after us and the restaurant manager spent the night with them and took their order before ours. I had to get up to ask if someone would take our order. The manager came and said the other table was first for orders but would take ours (not sure why a table that came in 30 minutes after us would be first but such is life). He took our order and we waited and waited. The other table was finished with their main courses before we received appetizers. The bugs outside were terrible so my daughter asked if they had bug repellent. After 20 minutes the manager brought over a can of roach spray and said she should spray this on her legs as a bug repellent for the mosquitoes. Clearly they had no sense of customer service (and obviously a roach problem( The main courses came and they were mediocre at best. The fish was dry, the burger over cooked, the salmon was ok and the tandori was something we would expect from a fast food spot. It was a 3 hour affair of which most of it was waiting. The cost was 673 euros. We informed our hotel, Marbella Club, and they said they would stop recommending it (based on the bug spray recommendation they made etc.). Truly the worst experience I have ever had and it was like flushing money down the toilet. Now I need to figure out how to get my 673 euro back.....

In comparison to our wedding reception in The States, Scarlett and team are a well-oiled machine. She always reached out to us to get specifics and made sure we were right on schedule throughout the whole planning process. The venue is beautiful. On a clear day you can see the coast of Africa and The Rock of Gilbratar. You have this vantage point from almost every section of the restaurant. Also, the ambiance can make it feel like you are in Hawaii and almost forget that you are along the Costa del Sol. As far as the food goes, it does not disappoint. We had some canapes and they were all well executed. I would recommend the fish taco as there was a profound flavor complexity in its little bite. For dinner, I had the chicken with noodles. The chicken was slightly sweet and paired greatly with the saltiness of the noodles. All in all the meal was light and made perfectly for dancing throughout the evening. Tikitano also has bands that come from time to time to perform. The night we were there the singer played more of a swing set that got most of the guest out of their seats to dance. If I ever come back to Malaga, I will be sure to swing by Tikitano again for the great food and the great service.
