My family of 4 had a 6:30pm reservation on a Friday, and it was the perfect timing, the restaurant wasn't packed, but there was still a great energy and atmosphere. The space itself is beautiful, and from the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly warm and welcoming. We started with the nachos, and if you're expecting your traditional pile of tortilla chips, cheese and toppings, these are definitely not that! They're individual tostadas topped with guacamole, salsa, cheese and crema. A fun twist and actually really delicious. The kids went with the chicken and cheese quesadilla, which was a huge hit. Simple, but SO good, definitely one of those dishes where I kept sneaking bites from the kids. My husband ordered the Tlayuda Masa, and we actually had to ask our server what it was. He immediately told us it was his favorite item on the Masa section of the menu, so of course we had to trust him. And he was absolutely right! It's essentially an open corn tortilla topped with incredibly tender skirt steak and a seriously good sauce. This ended up being one of the standout dishes of the meal. I ordered the pescado and carnitas tacos, two come with each order, and WOW. Both were packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. I honestly couldn't decide which I liked more, which is always a good problem to have when ordering tacos. And the whole time I kept thinking, "This feels like a restaurant I'd find in Brooklyn." The food is creative without feeling overly complicated, the space is stylish, and there's just a really cool vibe here. We finished with dessert and tried the flan, which was interesting but personally wasn't my favorite. Then came the horchata ice cream... OH. MY. GOODNESS. I have never had horchata ice cream before, and I am officially wondering where it has been all my life. 10/10. Creamy, flavorful and SO good. Our server mentioned that the menu changes seasonally, which gives me another reason to come back. I would love to see what they do with the fall menu! What I'd order again: Pescado tacos Carnitas tacos Tlayuda Masa Horchata ice cream Definitely worth adding to your list!

The staff kept walking past us without glancing over. After 15 minutes, someone finally came by with chips and salsa and said that they would be right back. Wonderful for chips and salads, but no waters? I asked if they could bring water and that took another 10 minutes. No straws either. I ended up walking to the bar to get my own straws. I wasn't waiting another 10 minutes for that. The chips and salsa were amazing! We finished the entire thing! Margaritas were also great! Food then came out. Steam and shrimp enchiladas. Very nicely prepared and delicious. Sadly, it was dropped off to us with no utensils. At this point, I was getting a bit annoyed. My boyfriend got up to ask someone to give us a fork to eat. As we ate, we noticed three other tables came in asking for utensils because the staff had forgotten to provide it to them as well. Small things that make a huge difference. Hopefully they can improve on customer service, as it's a shame since the food is fantastic.

This is not your ordinary Mexican restaurant! It is one of the best you will find in this country…read moreand I have not eaten better Mexican food whether in NYC, Bay Area, Chicago, LA, Arizona, and even Mexico! Notably, the specialities are Oaxacan. So we stuck to those and ordered a chicken with mole negro and tlayudas (without meat). Wow!!! These were both incredibly delicious. The mole was the most delicious I had ever eaten anywhere including at Oaxacan food festivals and I nearly licked the plate clean!! Every taste of this was heavenly...you could taste the chili and chocolate and many other ingredients complex and rich ingredients that created a chocolate nutty aromatic sauce with a smooth and deep chili burn. The chicken in which it was braised was among the most tender and fall-off-the-bone moist chicken I have ever eaten. The rice and black beans it came with were equally delicious. The tlayudas was my first: wow!!! It was so complex and balanced like the mole, but much lighter and with more complex textures. There was what seemed like a baked flour tortilla buttered with black bean paste and different cheeses including Oaxacan fresh homemade cheese and cheddar cheese and even a type of creamy white cheese topped and layered with fresh lettuce and avocado and vegetables as well as pickled cactus to create a panoply of flavors and textures, light, delicious and perfectly balanced in each bite. Thank you for this wonderful culinary experience!!

The service was excellent throughout the entire evening, and every cocktail we ordered was fantastic. While everything was delicious, the Duck Rice and Schnitzel were the clear standouts. Both were packed with flavor, and the Schnitzel was an especially generous portion without feeling over the top. It was perfectly cooked and incredibly satisfying. To top off the night, we headed downstairs to their cocktail bar, Laylow, and had an amazing time. We opted to sit at the bar because the vibe looked good. I had a lemondrop martini from the half price menu and it was good but a little too sweet. Then I had the Blood Sugar Sex Magic from the regular menu and it was unique and fun. I then had an espresso martini with dessert. I was feeling good after that. We did three appetizers: hummus, falafel, and the halloumi. The hummus had a nice texture but it could have used a little more lemon and garlic. But it was served with a jumble of fresh herbs on top which was very nice. The falafel was amazing. The texture was perfect: very crispy on the outside and light and fluffy inside. Not like the dense falafel you get in some places. It was serviced on top of a delicious red pepper sauce. The server told me it was an old family recipe. The halloumi was fantastic. Very generous and covered in a very crispy coating. It sat in a pool of hot honey. They brought the appetizers out one at a time, which was the perfect way to pace it. We were pretty full by the end so we shared one entrée. We had the lamb kofta. It was cooked perfectly and sat atop a pomegranate labneh. It was also delicious.
