Steak is pretty good quality. Generous portions. Always fresh and hot. Clean. Very nice people working there. Reasonably priced. I recommend. read more

This place has stood the test of time.!!! I'm guessing 20 years, but it's just an average Mexican joint. The menu is large, but there are no vegetarian options. I feel like most Mexican take out places have a section now where grilled veggies or avocado is the star. If you don't want meat, ask to create your own food. I asked for a vegetarian burrito. I subbed sour cream for guac and added onions. The onions were gigantic, not diced. The rice is Mexican rice, red with corn and other veggies. It's bland. The whole burrito needs salt! It's was just under $7, so that's reasonable, but there are cheap ways to improve the product. You get one red, really HOT, and one green, bland, salsa with a to go order. Quick on the cook, but don't expect gourmet. read more

One of our favorite Mexican restaurants. For simple good food. This is the place. We only do takeout, since it is not a big place. Very simple, typical local mom & pop restaurant. Chili Relleno burrito is our "go to" order. read more

Authentic, not fast foody/junky, Mexican food. It isn't very oily or greasy, or salty, but captures the authentic Mexican flavor in a natural way. read more

Unbelievable price... $7.93 included tax for a large filling steak burrito... green and red sauce were amazing ... and it was all delicious... very clean, service was nice and authentic... I honestly can't wait to go back... read more

My expectation of this place fell short leaving me an unfavorable taste in my mouth. The place appeared to be just like any other average Mexican restaurant. I ordered a burrito without beans, but still received them in my burrito and on my plate. They also drenched the burrito in tomato sauce, which was unexpected and disappointing. There are no refills and it was costly for the quality I received. Service was poor compared to average Mexican restaurant. You can expect the following: Pick up your own food, no free chips, and prices are not listed on the menu. The rice was meh. Some better local options would be Taco Bell, El Paraiso, or El Faro. read more

They are price awesome! And the burritos are soo delicious! Highly recommend. There horchata is one of the best if not the best.

Should have went to El Faro. Screwed up my order & I paid $20 for chips & guac and a chimichanga. Disappointed... wanted beef & they gave me chicken! There was only 1 other person in there when I arrived too! normally I wouldn't complain but having not eaten in the last 9 hours I am pretty hungry. read more

Super good and pretty cheap! Little hidden gem! Staff is also always very friendly and helpful. Def my go to for Mexican!

Ordered 4 tortas and they were dry with no beans won't go back and when I called to ask if he forgot or is this standard he said next time ask for more beans. Torta clearly is supposed to have beans on it. Customer service sucks read more

El Grande Burrito - Not enough beans on the torta - Fast Food Near Me - South Elgin, Illinois

This place is pretty good, went there last night and got a chicken burrito, steak taco and a tamale all for under $9 The taco was great, a lot steak on it. The burrito was pretty good, and it was really big. I needed to add sour cream and guacamole. But everything tasted great. The tamale, I was not impressed. Very little meat. Other than that the staff was polite and fast. Glad this place is close to the house. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by. They have great selection of food. read more

Great owner and homemade Mexican food. I ordered a steak burrito, steak tacos (Asada), chicken quesadilla and chips/salsa. Price was $18 for all four items. Everything was made-to-order and warm when I got it home. read more

I wouldn't give this place a star, I was forced to. Came here Saturday night. It was dead. Bright decor was the only good thing about this place! No greeting when you walk in. There were only two workers. A lady at the register taking orders. Not friendly. They have huge menus on the wall, no prices. My fiancé ordered a steak burrito suizo, I ordered a steak burrito, our daughter had a chicken quesadilla and we had horchatas. Food was ready, the lady called us to the counter. Fiancés food came with rice and beans but he only ordered the burrito. The burritos were not "grande" they were fairly small. Burrito suizo only has cheese in the middle not melted throughly and drenched in tomato sauce? My fiancé is Mexican, we've never seen that before! He had a couple bites and bit into a rock?! He brought it up to the counter the cook came out and gave him $20, he apologized said to be careful eating the food because he thinks the rock came from the beans?! Our meal was $30. We left and all of us had a bad stomach ache. WHY WOULD YOU SERVE FOOD KNOWING THAT IT WAS BAD AND WAS A HEALTH OR SAFETY HAZARD?! If that rock ended up in my child's mouth I would have raised hell in this place!!! Please people do not ever eat here. We frequently check out restaurants and have gone to several Mexican restaurants throughout the Chicago land area, this was place was overly priced for terrible food terrible service. read more

I don't know why more people don't eat here. Everything we have had has been great. The steak is awesome! It's my absolute favorite. My husband loves the burritos. He had had them several ways and has loved them all. It has been our go to for few years now. Eat there - you will love it. read more

Tried 2 times now. Was not impressed either time. Friends say the place is great however I was less than impressed both times. Cheese enchiladas seemed reheated. Flank steak was chewy. Bill for two came to $26. Portions were a bit small I thought. Food was overall okay however I feel there are better options in the area. read more

Food is sometimes good and sometimes not. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS! and the employees never look happy. Also, always check your order before leaving. I ordered steak tacos, was given beef and when I called back, they said they remembered clearly I ordered beef, even after I nicely pointed out that the receipt even said steak tacos. When I went back for the corrected order, the man yelled at me. No offer of free food, discount or apology for wasting my time or wasting my gas, to return to their restaurant to fix their mistake. read more

Cheap and Tasty Tacos, great for when you're on the way home from a long work night. Definitely would recommend!

Very happy to see a good taco come to South Elgin. Good price, good food. I'm sold.

Love this place. Great for takeout and prices are very good too. I order from here at least twice a month and have been for about 5 years.

6 STARS! This place rocks! Great pricing and great food. Fast as lightning preparation too. I live 2 blocks away. I call in the order, grab my keys and go. Food is ready as soon as I get there and it tastes great. I am a regular for real. Everytime I order I think to myself "maybe this is the time they will screw it up" but they never, ever do. Great track record. read more

Very good Mexican food, decent prices. Will definitely go back often. We first tried this place a couple of months ago and love it.

We stopped in for lunch. Ordered a tostada, sopes, chicken burrito, side of beans and horchata. Everything was great except the beans.

El Grande burrito is your typical strip mall fast food Mexican restaurant. The menu is on large signs on the walls with virtually every type of Mexican food offered. The widescreen TV is tuned to ESPN Deportes so if you speak Spanish and like soccer you are all set. The tables are Formica with wood trim and the chairs are typical vinyl style. Counters and stool seating are on either side of the restaurant. You order and pay at the counter and if you're having horchata there is a self serve dispenser out in the dining area marked no refills please. The food is very typical of many of the fast food, order at the counter Mexican restaurants in the area. You can't go wrong with tacos and the chicken and steak are especially good. My go-to meal for dinner is the Bisteak ala Mexicana. My favorite carry out is chicken enchiladas with green sauce and my wife's favorite is the chicken nachos. El Grande Burrito is good for a quick and tasty lunch, dinner or carryout take your pick read more

El Grande Burrito - the front of the restaurant - Fast Food Near Me - South Elgin, Illinois

I went 2 this restaurant last night. With my friend Nikki & the owner was FucKin up all the orders so bad that people were swearing @ him & calling him names. I wouldn't go back 2 that dump if u paid me 100 dollars. I give this dump 1star. If it was up 2 me I would give this dump -5 stars. I'll never go back there again read more

Not bad overall. Had a steak burrito and a horchata. Can't say best or worst I've ever had, decent though. Torta looked pretty good but not a whole lot of meat. Like that you can see them cooking right there, but is kind of a whole in the wall. read more

El Grande Burrito is a rather plain restaurant, but the food is excellent, the prices are right, and the staff is attentive. We'll be back!

Big fan of this place....every time I'm home for lunch during the week I choose "The Big Burrito". The tacos are very good, but my new favorite thing on the menu is the Nacho Supreme with Steak...I also ask them to add a side of rice ON the nachos....so good! Solid prices, quick and friendly service...what more can you ask for? read more

Average quick Mexican food. Fills the gap for the money. Nothing stands out good or bad. You can grab a few tacos to go or they have a few tables. Everyone is friendly and the place is clean. read more

Seriously the worst everything! Don't know how a place can stay open serving crap food and service. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra mile for a better meal. It's bad when I have a taste for Mexican food and would rather eat a ketchup sandwich then to ever go back there. read more

I've been there a few times, just not for me. Food is okay, there are better Mexican restaurants/carryouts in the area. The few times I have been there they have not been open when the sign says they are supposed to be open and calling ahead I've been told they are too busy and unable to take my order. I don't mind bad service, but when I cannot flat out order multiple times, I gotta ask myself if the food is worth it, and in this case, it is not. read more

portion size is great, made fast and the order was correct i just found it slight bland no real flavor.

This place is a little hidden gem! I'm surprised they have not grown into a larger restaurant. We could use a larger Mexican food restaurant in SE. Great food, flavor and the people that work there are just awesome. I always get the steak taco special and my wife gets the quesadilla. Love the Mandarin soda! My only complaint is the straws are too short for the soda bottle so I push 2 together which sometimes doesn't work out too well. Sorry I had to complain about something! read more
