My first visit to El Forastero Forni Rd, Placerville. Ordered carnitas soft tacos and 1/2 pint guacamole. The carnitas was good. The pico de gallo good. The tacos overall were large but good. One of the tacos was too salty as if salt was added before serving. Edible but too salty. The others were not over-salted. You tell me. The guacamole was soupy and had no avocado flavor. It didn't taste terrible, just didn't taste like guacamole and the consistency made it useless as a dip. The jury is still out. I will try them again mostly because of the convenience of the drive thru and the okay carnitas. read more

Oh my gosh!!! The Carne Asada fries are out of this world!!! You ever kick back at home, and then think...hmmm...wouldn't it be awesome to make a huge party dish for a Netflix binge night? How about lean steak, shoe string fries, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, and add 2 types of salsa!!! I think there's more ingredients too...It's so good...and filling. I wish I had a photo! I ordered 3 things and specified my order and they messed up the whole order, so I called and told them and the lady that answered the phone was very rude and hung up on me (also keep in mind that I was very nice and respectful because I've worked in customer service). Then realized the bean and cheese burrito I ordered with carnitas didn't have beans or cheese, just carnitas. So I called back and asked to talk to a manager and the lady said "Calling again? I don't know what to tell you" and then hangs up AGAIN. Very disappointed and will not ever be ordering from here again. read more

Ordered their carne Asada mini tacos and they were amazing. They are not stingy at all when it comes to the onions, cilantro and meat, plus you get chips and salsa from the salsa bar with your order. Excellent food. The carnitas plate and California burrito are very hard to beat. In the last few weeks the level of spice in the salsas has increased to an extreme level. Please Forastero go back to the way it was. Your salsas are amazing but I will be throwing all of them away tonight. We can't taste anything with them on the food, just heat and lots of it. I am always excited to see a new Mexican restaurant pop up in the area. I hit up the drive through and ordered the special with a chicken burrito with rice & beans. First of all kudos to Forastero for the cheap prices, I think the meal was like $6? The burrito had good flavor and the rice and beans were pretty good. The burrito however was also extremely salty, like salty enough to really take away from the experience. If it weren't so salty my score would probably be higher. read more

Its hit or miss at this place. I feel like the stuff you'd normally expect in a lot of dishes are missing. For example, I ordered carne asada "super" nachos. Normally that would come with chips, meat, cheese, beans, sour cream, guac, beans, jalapenos, maybe some diced tomatoes, etc. Their had chips, meat, a little bit of cheese, very, very little tomato, sour cream, guac...pretty plain. Great prices, great service, excellent food. Shredded beef tacos are the best in area, IMO. The carnitas tacos are most excellent as well. They even travel fine for to-go back orders. Beans, rice and cheese burritos are yummy and good size. French fries are great, especially dipped in their signature hot sauce. Can't wait to try more items on the menu. Great to have made-to-order Mex 24 hours, and right in Placerville! You may wait a few minutes in drive through, but that is because they prepare the food to order. The breakfast plates are fantastic, even for lunch or dinner. My favorite is the machaca plate, but good luck finishing the huge plate of food in one meal. Good flavors and good value. read more

Well, what a farce of a restaurant. The thinly sliced beef was cooked to a crispy leathery texture. I couldn't eat but a bite or two. The remainder will be used to fashion a wallet. My sister and I ordered the same meal. Her meal was missing the sour cream. The guacamole was actually watered down to the consistency of salad dressing. The flour tortillas were dry and scorched. I will not be returning. Ever! Usually a restaurant will offer a couple of free meals to make any mistakes and inconvenience right. No Thank you. I went through the drive thru so I can't speak for the inside. It was a little slow with two cars ahead of me but once I got to the window I received my order pretty quickly. I was really happy that they had the California Burrito like Aldaberto's in the valley. It's the same but not as good. It wasn't foul or anything like that. It was so hot I couldn't hold it. I know it's supposed to be hot, but good gravy! I about got a freaking sunburn! I think due to that it was a bit hard to enjoy the flavors. On a personal preference note, I don't like the cheese that melted and the salsa inside should be kinda cool. Melted vs runny. I'll likely go back and try something different. read more
