Excellent Tex Mex. Waitress was so nice! Portion size is great! We love this place.

food was just OK signs everywhere saying we support veterans and first responders ask about your discount when we did we were told we would not receive it as that night was a special occasion ( they had some sort of band outside) Poor way of doing business i my opinion it did not say only on certain day we are oth veterans and won't return read more

Our experience was very unfavorable. We were the only two in the restaurant, the waiter was clueless. Both our lunches were wrong, not what we ordered. They tried making it right, but what was brought was soggy, wet and bland, no flavor at all. We paid but left the food. We will not go back. Tex Mex it is not! read more

A couple of things. I ordered, for takeout, a taco salad with chicken in it. It was a Friday evening (July 2025 to be exact). I called ahead. The shredded chicken -- ew -- which was EXTREMELY DRY, and the flavorless shredded cheese (shredded chicken???), were on the BOTTOM of the salad. The overly abundant shredded lettuce, the very minimal guac and sour cream, along with the pieces of colored corn strips (WHY were those there if the salad is in an edible shell???), were on top, which was bizarre. The taco shell tasted like it had been fried a day or TWO before. Stale. No crunch. Not crispy. It was heavy, dull, and tasted old. No dressing or salsa comes with this disaster. If I didn't have salsa verde at home, this would have been MORE of a tragedy. Who wants a dry, old-tasting "salad" without an appropriate dressing? $12.99 for this? Nope. Not even close to worth it. You guys want to know how to make an incredible taco salad? Go learn from Tacos el Rancho in Orlando. I've NEVER had a bad one from there. What a shame my first -- and LAST -- from your establishment was so depressingly bad. Is it because expectations in Youngstown are so much lower when it comes to TexMex? I guess Florida and Texas have higher standards and expectations. Calling the order in was ridiculous. I'd expect the English-as-a-second language problem in Florida, not Youngstown. But making myself understood, and trying to cut through the accents of staff, was unacceptable. Is the hispanic population here that large? Is the customer base of that demographic? WHY would this place make communicating so challenging? If not, which I suspect is the case, cater to your paying audience. If I have to work that hard to make myself understood by your staff, I'll go elsewhere. These guys can't get a taco salad right. I am an accomplished home cook. I can make my own TexMex. I can make my own taco salad better than the awful mess I got from this place. It's nice, though, to have a tasty go-to when I don't have the time and energy. El Cowboy is definitely NOT that go-to. I won't be back. read more

The food was very good. The waitress was good, but we also took an order of wing dings home. They were a little well done other than that

We went for the buffet 2 weeks ago and it was great. So we took our daughter and granddaughter with us on Friday and it was horrible. None of the condiments were stalked, food was cold and I've had the diarrhea for the last two days read more

This was our first time here, and we'll definitely be coming back. Don't let the location in the Wedgewood Plaza put you off, the interior is nice and the food is outstanding! We had a party of four, and our server Vialetta brought out separate bowls of chips and salsa. for the Men and the Ladies in our group. Smart move! The chips are freshly made on-site each day, and the salsa was excellent. Interestingly, the chips and salsa also came with a small bowl of coleslaw, which was delicious. For dinner, I ordered a three enchilada platter (one beef, one chicken, and one cheese). They were prepared very well, and came with rice and beans. My wife had the Taco salad bowl, and she loved it, especially the fresh guacamole. My friend ordered a Burrito plate and was very satisfied. His wife had the Lamb Burger with fries which she said was very tasty. The food was delicious, the service was great and the pricing was reasonable for the value provided. We'll be back! read more

Let's give it a four out of five just because I love me some tacos! And the chips are great. The salsa is chunky, not a smoothie like at the two El Gallo's. And that freaking slaw salsa! Yow! So darn great! Tuesday so getting a side of guacamole and four steak street tacos. Of course wifey wife has to get cheese and lettuce on hers. (Hmmm I wonder about wifey wife at times) I however got me two soft corn tortillas and onion lime wedges and cilantro (you know, the GOOD way) with steak (carne asada) and if it is as good as I am expecting I will be as happy as I believe I will be as I believe I will be when I get the food I believe will be as good as I believe it will be. Or something like that. Time for more tacos! Update, back again. Oh and I didn't come here due to the radio station coming here every week. Or maybe I did. read more

You wouldn't think so from the outside, but El Cowboy is really nice: huge portions, good quality, & a nice interior. I also like that you can get black beans instead of refried beans! I've never seen that anywhere else before. In fact, I'll go on record for saying that El-Cowboy is likely tired for being being my favorite Hispanic joint in the area - tied with Mission Taco. I do have one complaint with the patio area. There isn't much to look at outside, but it's a nice option when the weather cooperates. However, the BIG PROBLEM is that they let people smoke on the patio, beyond that they outright encourage it by putting ash trays on the tables. Not only is this annoying & uncomfortable for non-smokers, but frankly it's illegal according to State Law. I believe the law dictates that you cannot smoke within 30 feet of a door. They need to get their act straight, moreover, I've considered turning them in on multiple occasions. read more

I don't know how others had such a poor experience. The food was off the charts and the margaritas were amazing. We've had Mexican food literally all over the world, so I'm at a loss as to how this place has relatively low scores. Between the two if us, we tried the following tacos: barbacoa, grilled chicken, shrimp, carne asada, carnitas, and al pastor. Each were prepared in a manner that supported the protein perfectly. You could get hard shell or soft. The margaritas were huge. The chips were light and crisp, and served with a cabbage slaw or a wonderfully flavorful salsa. Google has a much more accurate score for this place in my opinion. read more

The Food is absolutely amazing!!!! However the service is something to be desired.... To start off with the young waitress argued with my wife over what she ordered ( chicken quesadilla with the fajita chicken instead of the shredded chicken it comes with) and tried saying she ordered a fajita. At this point a what I'm assuming was the manager comes over ends up fixing the issue at hand and explains the girl is brand new, but in a not so nice way. Final straw was we get our check and we were charged for four drinks (free refills on fountain drinks) we only ordered two drinks with two refills... I ask the young lady about it she says she's new here but it's per drink, I ask her to find out for sure because I've been here countless times and never been charged for a refill, she still charged my card for 4 drinks instead of two then offered a $5 gift certificate. And as we're walking out yells across the restaurant have a great day with a super smug smirk on her face. The food can be good all day long but when you have crappy customer service it just makes it a bad experience all the way around. You would think an economy like we're in now they would try to keep that business in house Instead of running them out. Definitely wouldn't recommend anyone go here to deal with such crap service. read more

Good food good service, great ambience, good variety music on certain nights I would definitely recommend

This was an absolute awful experience, the manager Amanda was absolutely terrible, rude and not professional at all! She actually told one of the people in our party that "she should learn to read the menu" and thew the dish on the table. If that's what Managment is like at this place we will not be back. They also screwed up the entire order! I would hope the owner would want a better experience for their customers. That manager should be fired for the way she was treating everyone. It's too bad too because the band that was there was amazing!! If you have a great experience you usually tell a few people but a bad experience you tell everyone and I intend to! read more

To me this is the worst Mexican restaurant in Austintown. They speak Spanish and overcharge you on the menu prices. They pretend they don't understand you until you ask for a menu to have them correct the price, and suddenly they know English read more

Ate here for the first time after hearing about it several times. The salsa was really good. We got a side of guacamole, it was good. But our dinners were not good. I did the carnitas, huge plate of food. But unfortunately I left 80% of it as it just sucked. Everything sucked. The rice was so so. The beans weren't good and the carnitas was just odd tasting and not good. I was still hungry and left so much food just because it wasn't good. My wife got a chicken quesadilla, she ate it. Said it was ok. Nothing special. The bill was over $45 and I'm going to need to eat something in the hour or two. Very disappointing. Maybe it was an off night or something. The environment seemed cool. The beers were cold and the chips and salsa were really good. read more

Food, service, and environment is great! Absolutely love their slaw and salsa! Have never had a bad meal here.

We decided to check this place out on a Saturday night. When we walked in the door we were pleasantly greeted by the girl who ended up being our waitress. She was also waiting on tables on the other side of the restaurant so she kept up pretty good considering she was running back and forth. We weren't big fans of the margarita on the rocks that we ordered. So we switched to beer. The carne asada was delicious. The beans and rice were awesome. I didn't try the burrito but dh said it was delicious and tried to eat it all. (Like John candy from the great outdoors) but he failed leaving a few bites on his plate. The portion was pretty large and I didn't have a single bite left. I didn't fill up on the chips because they had quite a few hard nacho cluster (you know when the nachos get stuck together and you can't even bite into them) so I only had a few nachos with awesome coleslaw that they bring out to dip in. The salsa they bring out was just ok. I wouldn't say it was my favorite. We bought a few my valley dining coupons which saved us 10 bucks is why we came back and give this place another try. This place does get pretty crowded on Friday and Saturday evenings so if you want to stay for the entertainment make sure you come early to get a good seat. El cowboy read more

Some of the worst Mexican food I've had. Chimichangas were way below par. From the sauce to the nasty white cheese they pour over it. Chips are super greasy and the salsa is like tomato paste with onions. read more

This place was amazing. The environment is very comfortable and welcoming, and the decor is perfect as well. Service was prompt and friendly, and the wait for our dishes wasn't long at all. The food itself was excellent as well, we got the Cowboy Salad and chimichangas. The portions were generous, and we took most of it home. We will definitely be going back. read more

The atmosphere was AMAZING! My food was pretty good too but customer service was not good. Happy hour margarita prices went until 6, we were in the building before 6, but when we ordered the margarita at 6:02 the waitress refused to give it to us. My father loved his food but got sick in the night after. My biggest complaint is I wanted the $4 ala carte burrito because it was cheap and I wasn't tht hungry. The waitress asked if I wanted the red sauce, I said no, she asked if I want the queso, I said sure. When we got the bill, they charged us $4 (the same price as the burrito) for queso. She said it was $4 for a side of queso but I didn't get a side of queso, all they did was drizzle a little bit on the top of my burrito. She should have told me while I was ordering that my $4 burrito was going to cost double for alittle white sauce. At any rate, I'll try it again because it could have just been the waitress was having a bad day, but I'll definitely get other food, because the atmosphere was awesome. read more

My family have been enjoying this restaurant since it opened. Tonight will be the last time. The food was good but the service was horrible. Baskets of chips were bottom the bag crumbs. I understand if they are busy but it wasn't that bad. Ask for chips- they never came. Asked for drink- she forgot. Asked for carry out- took her three tries to get it out to us. Also the constant loud music in their venue attached to restaurant is not what I want to hear when I go to dinner with my kids. Shut the door so I can hear the people at my table. Also she asked if I wanted to talk to manager/ yes I would- never happened and we had to go. Will not be returning. read more

The food is good. However there is no social distancing going on. Place was packed. We went to get carry out. It was absolutely crazy inside. Food was over all good. But chips were stale and cheese dip wasn't good. I probably won't go back until I feel it is safe. I have been going to restaurants and eating in at many. I feel safe for the most part. I did not feel safe here. read more

First time here. The margaritas weren't very strong. The waiter couldn't answer any of our questions about the menu. We wanted a really big burrito and he said he didn't think they had one. The salsa was the chunky kind but had good taste. Our queso came out with our food instead of quickly after we ordered it so we couldn't enjoy it with our chips. My fries didn't come out with my meal the waiter said he'd go get them but they came after i finished the rest of my food. I thought it was all very over priced as well. We liked the waiter he had a great personality, just the service wasn't great. I would consider giving it another try maybe. I liked the atmosphere the most. But idk what all the hype about as I'm not very impressed. I really wanted to love this place but it wasn't that good. read more

I was really disappointed this time, all the skillet plates were burnt severely on the bottom, half the food was destroyed.none of the help could speak english and our orders were wrong, they tried to pass some kind of mess as tamales and it was uneatable. The band was so loud we had to scream our orders to the waitress,11 people asked them to turn it down and instead they wanted our party of 12 to move to the back. The shame of it is prior to this trip i would have recommended this place to everyone, not now.The service and food has really fallen off.PS moved the stupid pastry counter away from your entrance-its unwellcomming to your patrons. When you have to suck ice for a drink because no one could do refills is sad. read more

A group of 8 of us were immediately seated. 20 minutes goes by and no one has asked us if we want drinks or took any orders. At the 30 minute mark one of our group grabbed the nearest server. Thst server stated ""Taylor" was supposed to be our server"! We asked, "then where is "Taylor"?" ANOTHER server was approached by a member of our table. That server said she's not supposed to help because it's not her table. Anyway, she took our drink orders and left. 4 members of our table went outside to smoke. They were gone 15 minutes. They came back, STILL NO DRINKS and WHERE THE FUQ IS TAYLOR? Another 5 minutes goes by and we see 3 servers pointing at our table arguing about who's table it is! One of our party then went to them and asked to speak with a manager and returned to our table. A dark haired female who's breath could stop a charging bull approached and started making excuses! STILL NO DRINKS!!!! My wife and I just got up and left. I have no clue what transpired after that but I can say for certain, for a Saturday evening, they weren't busy at all and and the service absolutely sucks!! Now of course this review doesn't matter to thus establishment for if you look, they've not responded to ANY reviews. Typical for this kind of disaster! read more

One. Two. Three times you're out. Ground beef texture is so fine it didn't feel like real meat. Sauces tasted like pre-made and bagged. Took forever for us to have our order taken and for drinks to be refilled. Miscommunication led to having two waitresses and still waiting 45 minutes for our food to come out. 2 out of the 3 meals we ordered were wrong and the questions we asked about how things were plated and what sides we could receive were incorrect. After all of this they could not comp our meals or even just the steak that was ordered and specifically said to be medium rare and not well done. Horrible service. Good potential for food.
