This is hands-down my favorite restaurant in Madrid! The service is great, the atmosphere is pleasant, clean, and romantic, and the owner is very hands-on.
My girlfriend came to visit me from the U.S., and I took her here on her birthday. We came in without a reservation, and the owner squeezed us in (I have tried to come here on several other occasions without a reservation and failed). My girlfriend does not speak Spanish well, so the owner gave her a menu in English and explained his favorite dishes to her. The service was great, and the waitstaff also gave us some pointers (For example, they suggested that I order the venison. I usually like meat rare, but they suggested that I have it cooked medium rare or medium, which was the right call).
We had the burrata with prawns and garlic and the curry mussels to start. The burrata dish may be the best appetizer I have ever had. SO delicious.
For our mains, we ordered the venison and the chicken tagine. The venison was unbelievable. I only tried a bit of the chicken tagine, but my girlfriend liked it.
For dessert, we ordered the chocolate souffle and the apple tart filo pastry. The chocolate souffle is out-of-control good. The apple tart had a certain spice to it, and they pair it with ice cream.
We also had a bottle of wine.
Our total bill came out to around 80E. Not too shabby for such an impressive meal.
We loved our meal so much that we came back on her last night in Madrid.
We had the burrata starter again. She ordered the venison, and I ordered the lamb. The lamb has a honey sauce and is delicious. For dessert we shared a chocolate souffle, and because we were going out for drinks after, we ordered our wines by the glass. Our total bill came out to around 55E.
The restaurant is rather small, so I definitely recommend making a reservation well in advance (several days). Talk to the owner. He speaks English and Spanish (and possibly a few other languages). He's very nice and helpful. He is clearly very hands-on, and his attention to detail shows in the quality of his restaurant. He knows the menu inside and out and can suggest the best things to order.
