3 of my friends and I came here on Saturday and we had a wonderful server named Teresa. The food was great and we so enjoyed our food and our server, we loved it and will be back. We miss our El Chico in Fayetteville Arkansas so it was good to be able to come in and have a good meal. Great service and atmosphere. Decent prices. Was not fully satisfied w my burrito (i thought the onions would be grilled and they were not) and the server caught on very easily. I didn't want to bother but she insisted on bringing me something else I would be more pleased with. I ended up with a quesadilla with a tomato tortilla and it was AMAZING! She always engages her customers in great conversation, and takes extra steps to make sure your order is exactly how you want it. Our family loves this place! Some of the best Mexican eats in town. I'm not a huge Mexican food fan, but when we do eat Mexican, we choose El Chico. My pregnant wife doesn't stop craving it ! Definitely give it a shot if you're in the area. Service is really great too! read more

As a previous reviewer said, "...this is one of those places that people forget about." and she was right. Back when the Promenade had a decent movie theater, we would sit in the bar at El Chico enjoying the good service and food prior to, or after a movie. I stumbled across the review and remembered that we used to really like this place. So...we decided to do lunch here a couple of days ago. We found parking pretty close and were quickly shown to a booth in the larger restaurant part. Chips and some great slightly spicy salsa were brought. We got a small cup of yellow queso which was very tasty. My wife got the Chicken Monterrey lunch for $9.49. It was quite a bit of food and she took half home. I wasn't all that hungry so I got Lunch Special Cinco for $7.99 ordering frijoles rancheros in place of the refried beans. It was all very tasty. Whitney, our waitress, was very attentive, professional and funny! I'd forgotten that Thursday are 1/2 price for kids and right at noon a group of about 15 kids came in with a couple of adults. No problem, they were so well-behaved and quiet. We'll be adding this back into our lunch rotation and maybe someone will refurbish the theater next door... read more

I am not really a fan of el Chico and can't really tell you why. I will say that this is probably the best location that I have been to. Our server was friendly and took great care of us. My food was hot and fresh. However, the food is just average Mexican food in my opinion. If you like el Chico then this would be the location that I would recommend you visit. read more

The only thing that was good here what is the salsa. The hot salsa was amazing. If I go back it will be just to buy the salsa to go. The place tonight seem very clean the rice and beans were absolutely horrible. For a Mexican food place I think this is the worst beans I've ever had in my life. They really need to learn how to cook beans along the Mexican rice had no flavor. The food was overcooked super dry so that's how I got to become such close friends with the salsa because I would have to submerge my food with salsa. Check behind the bar and the waitress How do you parents to of been on drugs like it weaker. Scabs on her arms super all over the place sunken in cheeks. She was nice don't get me wrong. But this is not something I want to feel comfortable comfortable with serving my food to me. The manager was pretty nice but again the food and the service was just not great at all. My wife and I were hungry for Mexican food this evening and went to this location where we have been before. Well, we stood and stood and stood at the hostess station for several minutes at 6:45 PM and no one ever acknowledged our presence, so we turned around and left and won't be back. Some family members had told us that they had been there recently and had a bad experience, but we wanted to check it out and I guess they were right. This will probably be another closed down restaurant at the rate they are going. Hope management reads Yelp and wakes up before it's too late. read more

My wife and I have been going to this El Chicos for 10 years....and we love it. Cheap beer, good food, fast service. I don't know what these people are looking for on these 1 and 2 star reviews when you can take your family here to eat good Tex/mex for CHEAP (5 person family eating for around $50)! It really is true though, with El Chico you either love it or you hate it. I love it. We had a group of about 20 and I called around to many different restaurants to see if the could accommodate us on a Sunday afternoon they all wanted nothing to do with it until I called here. They we very nice took down the information. On Sunday when we got there they had it all set up and ready to go. Our waitress was amazing. She had a great personality and kept everything in the table full and was on top of everything. The tickets were split Correctly and the food was great and prepared and delivered quickly and correctly. It was the best experience I have had dining out with a large group. read more

I have been coming to this el Chico for well over 10 years and usually have had no problem. Last night my husband and I went there and sat by a table of guys the manager was extremely friendly with. The manager sat there with the table for well over 30 minutes talking about very provocative and inappropriate things a manager should not be speaking about at his place of business. (Sex, porn, etc). Some things were so inappropriate it made me not want to eat anymore. When he left we walked right by him he didn't say one word. No thank you. Nothing. The hostesses didn't tell us bye or anything because they were too busy playing on their phones. As a person who spent almost $50 there I wish I would have taken my business somewhere else where it was appreciated. The customer service was absolutely terrible. read more
