Stopped in for an early light dinner on 5/25/13. Lime margaritas for $3.25 were very reasonable and tasty! The chips and salsa were great too...chips nice & crisp, salsa chunky and just the right spiciness. We chose from the a la carte menu - an order of taquitos with chicken, and an order of two carne asada tacos. The food was served up very promptly and piping hot. I loved the taquitos....they had lots of moist flavorful chicken, and the outside tortilla was light and crisp (not chewy & greasy like so many places). The three pieces, accompanied with fresh guacamole and pico de gallo, were just the right amount. They would also make for a great appetizer plate for two. My partner had the carne asada tacos and he said they were delicious and also just the right proportion. The meat was flavorful and chopped not too small and was accompanied with cabbage, onions, and cilantro, and placed on two warm flour tortillas. He declared that these carne asada tacos were better than the usual carne asada burrito he normally orders. Altogether, the meal was great, served up by a very efficient and friendly waitress, and the total bill (including the margaritas) was only a bit over $17 dollars...a nice surprise. It honestly sucks. The burritos are dry af that I kept drinking water every damn bite. The "waitresses" are retarded like you ask them not to get the full combo meal just the sope and they bring the whole damn feast of combo. Like chill damn. Then they be adding extra money on your check like who dafuq pays $11.98 for 2 kid pancakes. In that case I'd go to Mc Donald's. Anyways it's white washed ain't even Mexican. I don't recommend it go to Tacos and beer their atleast you don't pay $6 for 1 taco! read more

I placed a phone order for 3 burritos for my construction workers I asked to have 3 salsa and 3 bags of chips and was told NO one per order only. I said Ok well I'll pay for the other two bags and 2 salsa. Now when I say a bag of chips this bag they give you is the smallest brown bag that is available about Half the size of a brown lunch bag size and they only fill it with chips 1/2 at most. When I got my bill they charged me $8.95 for these two bags of chips and 2 salsa??? The food is pretty good here but Way Overpriced for what you get. Needless to say I ask that they remove the $8.95 from my bill. The Carne Asada Burrito is already $7.50 each and i could not justify paying $8.95 for the salsa and the small amount of chips. One would think when you charge that much for a Burrito they could afford to give you a salsa and a few chips. Or at least charge a reasonable amount of money for them. read more

Not bad, prices are great, service is fast, can get busy at times, but so do most places that have good food.

El Charro is our go to place for a great meal, friendly service, at a reasonable price. Everything that we've tried from the menu is very good, and the salsa is a very close second to what my wife makes at home. We've tried others here in Beaumont but always felt El Charro is the best. The menu is is geared more for lunch and dinner but don't underestimate the very good selections for a Mexican breakfast. Our whole family loves to go there. El Charro means cowboy and if I had to pick one to represent then it would be Wyatt Earp all day long and all day strong. I'm talking Kurt Russel standing tall with Sam Elliot and Val Kilmer at his back. Confidence in some killer Mexican food and no way to make a bad choice. Try the Robert Special, two ground beef enchiladas with rice, beans and two eggs over easy on top of the rice. You'll be a daisy if you do. read more

Our go to mexican food place ! Burritos and chimichangas never disappoint. They are always super stuffed. The chips and salsa are phenomenal. I've never had a rude waiter/waitress here. It is true they have raised the prices but it's not that bad. Before it was only $6 for a ginormous burrito! I believe it's something like $8 now. The only gripe I have is that unless you get seated in the back tables, it will be very noisy. read more

We like El Charro in general. The ambiance is good, the service is cheerful and fast. About what you would expect in a mid level restaurant. We ordered two combo plates which included rellenos, tacos and taquitos. The quality was very good. Our main disappointment was that portion sizes were on the light side. Our two-choice combos were $10 each, and came on medium size plates. I would say they were adequate, but, at other Mexican restaurants, for that price, we would have needed to have a doggy bag, but we didn't. Also, the bowl of chips and tiny bowl of salsa on the table were, again, not generous, but, on the bright side, the service was so fast that it was OK! read more

Yesterday when we went for lunch at 1:30pm, the young man at the register refused to seat us because he stated that he had a waiting list and we could put our name on it. My companion has dementia and I needed to sit in a booth because he needs assistance when eating. I noted that the restaurant was busy but I did not see anybody waiting to be seated and there were several empty tables. When I asked if we could sit at an empty booth in the corner, he said no because that table was for four people. Needless to say, it was obvious they didn't want to serve us so we left. I am 72 years old and my companion is 82 yrs old. We are clean and dressed appropriately - this has never happened to us before this day and it will never happen to us again (at least not at El Charro's). read more

Extremely disappointed and NEVER going back!!!! We were weekly regulars at El Charro, however this past Monday we went in for our weekly dinner and after getting sat and ordered drinks, we were told they were out of beans. We said ok. After ordering the waiter came back to tell us they were out of rice. And keep in mind they were also out of chili verde and tamales and another item. So the burrito we ordered was not going to have meat and lettuce. Well it was terrible with no beans and rice. Needless to say we told the waiter and asked for the manager. The manager who happened to be the owner was not willing to take care of anything off the bill and said it was our fault and we should have ordered something else. She just said sorry. WRONG answer!!!!! Well that is NOT taking care of your customers and being conserned about their dining experience. I work in the restaurant industry and it is VERY important to take care of your customers/guests especially your regulars. So El Charro has now lost weekly regulars because the owner was not willing to take care of us in any way. An apology was not enough in this cisrcumstance!! She was willing to lose hundreds of dollars from us as we went in weekly but not willing to lose $10 on this one time deal. Plain stupidity!!! El Charro has gone down hill!!! Authentic? Not any more. They are obviously cutting back to save money and it is definitely showing in their food! We live out of town and my family lives in Beaumont and we have all been going there for nine years or so. We used to love going there and it used to be our favorite. I took my daughter to eat there at the beginning of the month for breakfast. First off the waitress's white shirt was filthy! I couldn't help stare amazed that she would wear such a filthy shirt and noticed later she was busing dishes around and probably got her shirt dirty that way but wear an apron! I had ordered two eggs, potatoes, bacon and a side of beans. What I got was two eggs, side of beans (normal) the potatoes were PLAIN and obviously prepackaged frozen and the bacon was two flat pink and greasy pieces (possibly microwaved?) I asked for the waitress to take back my bacon and make them a little crispier. She came back in just a few minutes with two pieces that were hard, crunchy, old looking and very obviously not the same pieces. I had no words.... but just had her take them away. I can make a better breakfast than that for my family any day. We pay to go out to restaurants to taste delicious gourmet food not prepackaged food heated up. Bacon should be fresh, crispy and curled up. Potatoes should be seasoned with onions and bell peppers. The plate looked sloppy and I would have been better off having fast food and saving money. I would have walked out at that moment but my daughter was pregnant and hungry and I was starved. I was offered a very small senior discount and I'm not even close to being a senior lol $1 or $2 off of my bill was taken off. I was pretty disgusted with the whole dining experience and very, very disappointed with El Charro. I will never eat at El Charro again.. read more

When they first opened under new management, the food was great and the prices were decent. But it seems this past year the service has gone downhill. We went there for breakfast one morning and were second customers there. There were two waitress working there, one named Maria we knew very well (we were regulars by then) and the other (I can't remember her name) was there. The other waitress took our order and we waited and waited the other customers were served and left and we still didn't get our order. So after 35 minutes we got up and left. So on two other occasions we had gone to eat there and when the Manager asked us what happened? We told her (big mistake) our food was received very over salted. I took it to Manager and she offered to replace it I said no I want a refund. We had ordered a burrito to go for my daughter, when she tasted it, she complained that it was very salty. We have not been there since then (because we didn't know what would be in our food) and at the time it was one of the better Mexican Restaurants in Beaumont. So sad it has a bad Manager and waitresses, because from what I am reading it hasn't improved since we quit going there. read more
