Salsa is good (this is hard to come by), when the salsa is good, then everything else is usually good too. The basics are good here: service, fried rice, refried beans, enchiladas (I like Cheese and Ground Beef here), burritos (I like ground beef here), and tacos; other items you order here will vary in taste, since every restaurant follows their own recipes. I wish the Chile Rellenos uses fatter plump peppers. My wife likes that Carne Asada. Stick to the basics here, you can't go wrong. read more

It was pretty good Mexican food. Because of the covid19 epidemic we couldn't eat in. Do we got it to go and they had no organizational structure on take out. It was every man for himself. Luckily I'm pretty assertive and got in and out pretty fast. The food was good. I'd say equal or a little bit less than Hacienda Del Mar. Just that it was less expensive which was a bonus. I have been coming here for over a year now and have never once been disappointed by the food. It always tastes delicious and is still hot by the time it makes its way home (I don't usually eat in the restaurant). The wait is usually only 15mins before receiving your meal. I was very disappointed when they closed down earlier during the covid-19 pandemic since they are one of my favorite restaurants in town, but I drove past the other day and realized they're back in business! I Read solid reviews and was excited to try it. We waited like 7 minutes for someone to come to the front to greet us in the non busy lunch hour. Then we were met and she said how many and we said 2. She then walked off and another 5 minutes passed before she came back and said it'll be like a 20 minute wait. So we dipped out I get covid is hard and is screwing everyone up and we're short handed but that was sucky service. I will try again because it had high reviews but we left frustrated and hungry for Mexican food. I am not reviewing their food or service just an isolated incident that left a sour taste in my mouth. read more

During the Covid quarantine they did a wonderful job taking phone orders and making sure people got their favorite Mexican dishes. It was always very busy even just for takeout so I'm glad to see the locals supporting local businesses. The salsa is on the spicy side but I don't mind that and their portions are always quite large. Expensive in the way of Mexican food but it's worth it. I love that they give you chips and salsa with every to go order. Way to go El Cap!! read more

Food is not great. Inside of the restaurant is well designed but it is not evident from the outside. Service is slow and they bring food items in super hot plates that could literally burn your fingers, so watch out. Staff was friendly and nice. We love this family restaurant. The food and the service are equally good. It is our "Go to" spot on a Friday night if we just want to go out for dinner instead of eating at home. We really love the food here. The portion sizes are huge. My son did notice that his chicken fajitas were lacking chicken this last time though so that was disappointing. The reason for only 4 stars is that every time we go in the service is so slow. It always takes 2 hours for dinner here and it's due to long wait times for the food. It's not been busy on those times we've been in either. There really doesn't seem to be any reason for it so I'm not sure what's going on. read more

We used to go to El Caporal regularly because they have very hood food. Our kids liked it too, and we had a birthday party there for our daughter. had a fingernail in my food. The waiter asked if I had cut my nails and tried to say it was mine. Will never go back and discourage anyone else from eating there. I found a fingernail in my food. First the waiter said it wasn't a fingernail. Then he said maybe it was mine. It was gross and disgusting enough to find a fingernail in my food, and then to be blamed for it was not my idea if customer service. It a restaurant screws up admit it and try and make it right. Excellent Mexican food. Lots of parking, nice, small place. Fast service and great food. They bring you salsa and warm bean dip - a nice touch. It's puerco grande time after you shovel in all the well prepared fare. The portions are large so be warned or prepare to take some home. read more
