With this trip I decided to let my family take the wheel and make the decisions on where to stay…read moreprior to our cruise. I put a lot of trust in their word since they've previously stayed at this specific hotel a few times and they choice was perfect. Driving from the bay to Southern California was a whole trip in itself with two kids and the last thing we wanted to do was to rush the moment we got in the car and into the hotel. That being said, we decided to stay two nights prior to embarkation day. We wanted to walk in, get settled after the 7 (=/-) hour drive and relax. The hotel had everything we needed - a full kitchen, a clean and perfectly running shower, clean and comfortable beds and a wonderful view. The proximity of the hotel to the port was perfect. All eight of us were able to get our belongings together and not stress on getting parking. The continental breakfast was great as well. The staff was beyond amazing and during one of our nights we were able to watch the UFC fight downstairs in the lobby with a crew of construction workers. One of the staff attendants gave my girls crayons and coloring paper. She sat down and helped them with their art and it was honestly precious.

Okay for a quick one-night stay, but I'd choose another hotel for a longer stay…read more We booked this hotel using 35K Bonvoy points for a one-king-bedroom suite with a kitchenette and complimentary breakfast. We originally booked because the photos on the Bonvoy app made it look like the pool was on the rooftop, which was a big reason we chose this hotel. Unfortunately, that wasn't what we expected once we arrived. We also asked about upgrading to a two-bedroom suite when we checked in, but they didn't offer it to us even though we later saw that one was available. We mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday, but unfortunately there wasn't much the hotel could do. A few things to know before booking: * Ice: There is only an ice machine in the lobby. If you're staying on the 5th floor, you have to go back downstairs for ice. * Rooms/common areas: The carpets are pretty old and dingy and could definitely use an upgrade. There was also a noticeable old/smoky smell in the hallway. * Pool/whirlpool: The pool area is nothing particularly special, but we were lucky enough to basically have it to ourselves because the weather was cloudy, humid, and lightly sprinkling. We specifically booked this hotel so the kids could use the pool and we could use the whirlpool, so at least we got to enjoy it. I wouldn't choose this hotel specifically for the pool, though. * Breakfast: The breakfast was probably my biggest disappointment. There were quite a few gnats flying around the food and even around the tables while we were eating. The selection was on the smaller/basic side, but we did eat our fill since it was complimentary. I just wish there had been a little more attention to the gnats, as they took away from the overall breakfast experience. There are some definite positives about the location. There are a lot of restaurants within walking distance, so you have plenty of choices without having to drive. We took a nice walk last night across the bridge, caught the sunset, and had a view of the Queen Mary. We ended up choosing Chili's, but there were plenty of other options nearby, including Yard House, Hooters, Bubba Gump, and more. That was actually one of the nicer parts of our stay. Another positive was that, because of our status, they gave us a 4 PM late checkout, which was greatly appreciated since the regular checkout is noon. The location is also convenient for the Aquarium of the Pacific and for people catching a cruise near the Queen Mary. Because of that, I can understand why someone might choose this hotel for a quick overnight stay. Overall: If you need a convenient place to stay for one night or less, especially for the aquarium or a cruise, it may be perfectly fine. The location is convenient, there are lots of restaurants nearby, and we were able to make the most of our stay. But if you have a choice and are looking for a nicer hotel with better amenities, atmosphere, or breakfast, I would recommend considering an alternative hotel for a longer stay.

The atmosphere was both fun and professional. I will stay here whenever I'm in Long Beach. It's a close walk to a lot of good food and a short ride to tourist attractions. It definitely felt more like the kind of place you'd stay when you're 18-21 and looking to party, rather than a comfortable hotel for a relaxing stay. Check-in itself was easy and the staff was pleasant, but unfortunately, the property was a major disappointment. There were numerous stains on the carpets, and the elevator had what appeared to be melted ice cream on the floor. When we entered our room, there was a strong musty/moldy smell. The sheets also smelled musty. Stain on sheets. The room had an outdated popcorn ceiling, and the bathroom was especially disappointing. The tile was very dirty and visibly old, and the bathtub was dirty and heavily scuffed. For the price, this property is definitely on the lower end of what we expected. We ultimately decided we did not feel comfortable staying and requested a full refund because we simply wanted to leave. That said, we are grateful that management did grant us a full refund. I do appreciate them making that right, but based on the condition of the property, we unfortunately would not stay here again.

The coppery exterior and surrounding landscaping looked sharp on arrival. Valet was prompt and helpful with luggage. I arrived early. They offered a room immediately but said waiting a short time would get me a better one, so I left the bags with bell service. Like every other hotel I've stayed at, they said they would call when the room was ready. They never did. I had to return to the front desk and ask. It was ready. This has happened at every property that makes the same promise. I actually have a dedicated hundred dollar bill sitting lying dormant in my wallet awaiting the first hotel employee that actually calls me when my room is ready. It will be all theirs when they do; and I will recognize them for being the first ever to have done so in my personal decades of staying in hotels...! The room was nicely done and elegantly decorated. The linens were excellent and the bed was comfortable. I had a city view rather than water, which was fine. Public areas (lobby, bar, restaurant) ran warm in the summer with the large glass and cavernous volumes, but the room air conditioning worked decent and kept a good room temperature. One detail I really appreciated and wish more hotels would incorporate: a filtered water station next to the ice machine. Location worked well for the business meetings I had the next morning. I've been a long-time Hilton Diamond member, but Marriott properties like this one are starting to pull me over on overall quality. Solid stay once in the room, with a few operational misses that keep it in the 3.5 to 4 star range for me.

Our bathroom had mold, there were noticeable stains on the carpet, and the phone in our room didn't work. Our room was also not cleaned one day. When I went downstairs to ask about it, I was simply told they could provide fresh towels because they weren't sure if the night crew would be there on time. This property clearly needs some attention and maintenance. At this price point, I expected much better. Unfortunately, I won't be booking here again.

You're not going to find a bigger brunch anywhere in Long Beach, and you'd be hard-pressed to find one that compares anywhere in Southern California. The selection is incredible. They have a seemingly endless variety of dishes, from fresh seafood to made-to-order omelets, with chefs and staff preparing custom dishes right in front of you. The food is fantastic, and the entire brunch is an absolute show. What makes it even more special is the atmosphere. You genuinely feel like you're aboard a real, active cruise ship. It's such a fun and exciting experience! I was honestly shocked that nobody had told me about this place all these years. If you're looking for an amazing brunch experience, the Queen Mary should absolutely be at the top of your list. It's one of those experiences you have to see to believe!

****Paranormal Tour Review Only****…read more My niece is very into spooky things so she wanted to check out the Paranormal Tour at the Queen Mary for her birthday and it was quite the experience. If you are not a hotel guest, and are only going for a tour, dining, or for the day, you have to park at the Pike Parking Garage, which at 65 Cedar Ave., Long Beach. The nice thing is that they have shuttles that will take you to the Queen Mary for free. We weren't sure where they picked us up, but there is a small parking office on the first floor of the structure, and they will direct you. This was my first time at the Queen Mary, and there is such a nice view of the downtown Long Beach, especially at nice. It's gorgeous for photos. Walking around the boat was such a cool experience too. We had to ask staff to help us find the meeting point for the tour, but they were prompt at 9 pm. The tour guide gives great instructions before hand and provides some insights for what the tour will look like. There is a lot of walking and stairs that you'll have to climb, but it's manageable. It may not be a good tour if you have mobility issues because some spaces are quite tight. She did a great job giving us warnings here and there where we could have the option to opt out of a particular area because of the change in operators or visibility. There are waiting areas before these spots, so if you're uncomfortable, there is an option to sit out for some rooms. There was definitely a creepy vibe in some spots, and the tour guide gave us some good history and background of the different areas of the boat. We did experience some spooky things. Lights flickered in some areas and there was one room where the file cabinet suddenly shut on its own with no one near it. It's a great tour, especially as we are approaching October. I definitely recommend and I will be back to check out the boat during the day.
