We were driving up to Omaha and stopped here for lunch. My wife mixed her burrito with the refried beans and rice and was in heaven. She loved it. My beef taco was yummy.y enchiladas were good but I wasn't a fan of the roja sauce. It wasn't seasoned enough for me, so got sauce took care of that. But I still really enjoyed my meal especially since we were kind of in the middle of no where. So if you're driving by and want a decent Mexican meal, this place will do. To be honest wasn't expecting much at a Mexican restaurant in the middle of Kansas (was visiting from out of town) but was pleasantly surprised by the food. Everything was very tasty (not the absolute best Mexican I've had but thoroughly enjoyed). They started by bringing salsa and chips to the table. We also decided to order quac which was great. I ended up ordering the chicken fajitas which were very yummy and fulfilling. Somehow managed to finish it all despite the very large portion. It came with guac, beans, cheese, rice, tomatoes etc. on the side for the wraps. Service was great as well. Have nothing bad to say read more

¡Delicioso! So I'm from Texas, and I grew up eating all that is authentic y Mexicano. Duh! So anyways, this is it! This was a delicious little restaurant, the food came out quick and hot! Salsa was a little picante, food was well cooked, and served in a timely manner with steam still coming off the plates (yes, plural, I'm a fatty lol) I ordered the Alambres and a tamale on the side: the tamale was great, stuffed, and enough as a meal with 2 sides . The food was delicious, fresh, and made with care. The tortillas aren't homemade, but I didn't expect them to be, but they were hot and a great compliment to the fresh food. 10/10, will be back! My best friend lives in falls city which is about a half hour away from here. I am not from this state or nearby. The first time my friend took me here, I was amazed. This spot is next to a gas station. That makes you think it's questionable. BUT. I have eaten at tons of Mexican places and the prettiest ones don't hold a candle to this locations food. Amazing. We are traveling through Sabetha on our way to Omaha and tried El Canelo. It did not disappoint! The menu was huge, so many options and the service was fantastic. We had Pollo Chipotle, Chicken Nachos, Chicken Soup, Shrimp Quesadilla. We also tried the large queso, hot salsa and the salsa verde. The portions were huge and we were all stuffed and happy when we left! The restaurant was clean and bright. If you're thinking a restaurant attached to a gas station in the middle of nowhere Kansas is sketchy and not worth a try- you couldn't be more wrong! Highly recommend!r read more

We went to the location in Seneca, but it is not listed to rate. Waiter, perhaps the owner, accused me of having a fake ID. I informed him it was real and he called his "friend," a policeman, who checked my ID in front of the WHOLE restaurant. He interrogated me at my table over the ID. Obviously it was real, but the experience was mortifying, embarrassing, and caused a scene. I did get a drink after this ordeal, but they did not apologize or discount the drink or meal at all. I would give 0 stars if possible. The least they could do was apologize for the scene they caused. read more

They get upset and rude if you just come in for margaritas and don't order food. The food is nothing to brag about, my friend and I just had chips and salsa and a couple of margaritas. The waiter was not very nice to us, kept coming back and asking if we wanted food, kept telling him no, he gave us dirty looks. He needs some training how to deal with customers. read more

I don't find myself in Sabetha too often, but when I happen to be in the vicinity, I stop at El Canelo every time. This place has great enchiladas and great beans, which is all I really need from a Mexican spot like this. The enchilada sauce here is really good, a little thicker than what you might find at other places. And their beans are the perfect consistency. The lunch specials are reasonable and you'll be in and out quick. A great unexpected find in Sabetha. read more

My friend and I are visiting her family in town and we are fairly picky with Mexican food and this place is very authentic with wonderful service and some of the best chips and salsa I've ever eaten. I stayed in Sabetha on a cross country road trip. On a Tuesday night only this place and Pizza Hut were open. I came in with low expectations in spite of the 4 star rating. This place is literally in the middle of nowhere. My experience was beyond good. I had carnitas. They were proper with just a slight crisp. I asked for spicier salsa and they promptly brought out some killer chili rojo. My wife had a taco salad with fajita meat. It was also excellent. I will likely never be here again but if you find yourself here I would highly recommend. read more

My husband and I got the fajitas Tabasco for two and we ended up taking home another full serving. The margaritas were very tasty as well. Wow. So delicious. Seriously. We're from Texas and this is the best Mexican food I've had in ages. I got the nachos supreme half order and I could only eat half before I was stuffed. It was more like a taco salad with beans, ground beef and shredded chicken. I can't even tell you... Yum!!!! My husband got...I think it was called the special plate. I compare it to On The Border or Carlos O'kelly's, and believe it to be of equal or better quality and value. Had a craving for mexican food and being from Texas we really didn't expect much...talk about being pleasantly surprised. The food actually tasted like it was from a mexican restaurant instead of some places that think they need to cater to their customers and downgrade the flavors. This place was amazing!! We ordered the the asada burrito, the chicken nachos, and the fajita tacos. Everything had that flavor and texture that you look for when eating mexican food.
