Tasty Mexican food. Our service was friendly and fast. The drinks are delicious. El Campesino's food has a lot more flavor and food options that I am willing to eat than another Mexican restaurant close by that my family usually goes to. I would go to El Campos over the other restaurant every time now that I have tried it. I am picky when it comes to eating in Marion. Went to Marion today it's halfway for my Daughter and I to make the baby exchange.. Lol.. After her taking my granddaughter Hubby and I decided to grab some lunch. Saw this place so we decided to give them a try. Not too busy for a Sunday brunch. Very big menu made it hard to decide. Wished I noticed they have lunch specials on the weekends too. Definitely would of ordered off of it. Started out with an original Margarita which was good. Chips and salsa was good too. Food came out quick. We were given a nice amount of food for the price. Especially when we both had leftovers to take home with us. Everything was very good. Nice flavor to everything. The hard shelled taco was very good. Had to share with my Hubby..Lol.. the look in his eyes I could not share with him. He was a happy camper!! I would of been happy with just a couple of their tacos. Rice and beans were tasty also. We ate outside during COVID-19 and the service was great, everything was clean and food was absolutely wonderful! Unpopular Opinion: we love the newer Elcamps even more than the original, food is fresher and cooked better everytime I could eat the Carne Asadas from here for every meal, perfectly marinated thin sliced Ribeye with all the fixings! My family all love the queso and salsa, sometimes we get some to go! Highly recommend this location is beautiful, my #1 choice for a date night in Marion or for a quick lunch! I called to make a reservation for our group of 10 at 6:30 pm. When I called - no problem. When we arrived at 6:30, we were told "15 more minutes". OK, not ideal for a bunch of hungry high school students, but we can deal. When I came back in, apparently, there were two large groups just hanging out, and they still didn't have a table for us. I really do understand that you can't kick a group out, but why not put "reserved" on a table for a group that has made reservations? Also, and I'm pretty mellow, I would have loved more of an apology from the front desk, or at least, "Let us give your group some chips and salsa while you wait". Really nice place to head to when you're in the mood for some lunch fajitas which is just what I did on this particular Wednesday. This restaurant is pretty nice, very clean and you can almost smell the paint (but don't worry, you can't). The place is spacious and would be good for large parties if needed but on this day it was just me. The service is fast, the lunch deals are good and most importantly the food is really, really good. Today I ordered the lunch steak fajitas which showed as $6.99 on their website but was actually .50 cents more (hey have to pay for that new restaurant right?) today and to add sour cream, lettuce and guac was another .99 cents, which of course I did. While waiting of course I received the traditional salsa with chips. The chips were only barely warm but pretty good and the salsa was very good, although not spicy (but there was spicy condiments on the table to make it so if needed) Ten minutes or so later out came my hot and steaming steak fajiatas and I wasted no time in diving in. They give you a pretty generous portion of steak unlike some places at lunchtime and I felt the value was definitely there. By the time it was all said and done I was completely stuffed and ready for my check. My final check, with my water and lemon, was $9.09 and total with tip was $11.25, not too shabby for an excellent steak fajita lunch. I was out the door 40 minutes, give or take, from the time I stepped in so if you're looking for a place to go to lunch when you're working and only get an hour this is a good place to go when you're tired of Subway and other fast food joints. Highly recommended, I will be back and next time it's going to be shrimp fajitas!! read more

The inside is beautiful! We ordered off the lunch menu. We started with melted cheese with chorizo. That is also served with 3 warm soft taco shells. I ordered the combo with 1 tamale, 1 burrito (ground beef), and beans (I substituted with rice for no additional charge). My boyfriend had a shredded beef chimichanga. Portion sizes are ample. Both of us thought the food was delicious and flavorful. We ended with a fried ice cream topped with caramel. The shell it came in was dusted with cinnamon and sugar. They topped it with an ample amount of caramel. Definitely large enough for two people to share! Our server was very attentive and friendly. The prices are reasonable, too! read more

This is our first visit and I'm glad we stopped. First of all we were seated quickly in a obviously clean restaurant. The menu is typical of most Americanized Mexican style restaurants in the region, possibly the country, but they do it well. The beans tasted home-made, the ground beef was well seasoned and the chips were pleasantly warm. The salsa lacked salt. The Pico de Gallo in the house soup had started to turn so it negatively affected the flavor. The service was fast, attentive and courteous. If we are ever in the area again I'll definitely keep this in mind as a good option in the otherwise limited dining landscape in Marion. read more

This is the new location, which is BEAUTIFUL by the way. The OG spot on 423 is very nostalgic for me. My friends (from high school) and his family own it so it was always the place to go. I was back in my hometown of Marion and my sister and I wanted to stop to dinner and Mexican sounded great. When in Marion and you want Mexican food, EL Camps (what the locals call it) is always the way to go. The queso is amazing and comes in a HUGE bowl. I always get the grilled chicken and cheese quesadilla. I have to say that I haven't had this in about ten years since I moved away and it tastes the EXACT SAME! Even the new location tastes just like the OG location. The atmosphere of this location is so beautiful and very upscale feeling but has the same OG prices. First time there for me. I was in a group of 12 so service wasn't as quick as would have been for a couple. I had the shrimp cocktail. It was a meal by itself. A lot of chopped avacodo, tomatoes and plenty of shrimp in very tasty sauce. Three chicken tacos on the side and I was full. Good meal for the price. My first visit was great, my second visit tonight was the total opposite. The salsa was lacking in flavor, the rice was soup. I then asked for some beans, the waitress brought the order telling me to be careful it was hot. So I went to taste two beans, they were refrigerator cold. So nasty ice cold beans.... not once did the owner come out... not once did the waitress offer a discount for the nasty food. I thought I was going to give it another try...
