I ordered three chicken and cheese pupusas, and they were a great size. I was nearly full after the first two. The flavor was on point. My apologies for my photo because I was already halfway through my third pupusa before I remembered to snap a picture. I also tried the corn tamale, which my wife and I enjoyed a lot. On top of that, I ordered a steak taco, which unfortunately didn't make it into a picture either because I ate it too fast. What stood out to me was the "shell." Instead of the usual flour or corn tortilla, it uses the same masa dough as the pupusa, and I really enjoyed that difference. We finished our meal with the nuegados en miel dulce, something I had never tried before. I was glad I did because it was delicious and a great way to end the meal. Overall, the food and experience were excellent. If you are like me and rely on Yelp reviews to decide where to eat, I highly recommend giving La Casita Pupuseria & Market a visit. You will be well pleased like I was.

Really understand why this place is so popular! Came here with some friends and had a lovely…read moreexperience. We were sat right away and I was surprised at how big the restaurant is (way bigger than it looks from the outside!). I started with a hibiscus margarita, which was delicious. Then we ordered a few things to split, including: guac and tostadas, charred cabbage, gorditas with chorizo, aguachile negro, and the beef short rib platter. The charred cabbage was the biggest sleeper hit. It was so flavorful and unlike anything I've ever had before. Everything else was delicious, although the aguachile was probably my least favorite of what we tried. We finished with the rose water tres leches and the dulce de leche crepes. The tres leches were pretty good but the crepes were amazing. I don't usually love dulce de leche, but it was definitely a standout.

If you are planning to visit during popular dining hours, it might be worth it to make a reservation. We arrived during a weekend around 5:30 pm, and the place was somewhat empty. However, by 6-6:15 pm, the place was PACKED. I was a very surprised (in a good way) that the menu was a bit smaller compared to other Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. I necessarily do not think the smaller menu is a bad thing because, with a smaller menu, a restaurant can focus on preparing everything well (i.e., it's easier to do a good job with 20-item menu versus a 50+-item menu). For my dining pleasure, I went with the enchiladas suizas with a few margaritas. Overall, I thought my plate was very delicious; however, other diners at my table and I noticed that the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. Perhaps, the restaurant uses higher quality ingredients for its dishes. Although the margarita sizes might appear to be small, they definitely are not "small" in power/punch, so the $13-$18 price range is appropriate. My favorite margarita of the night definitely was the El Jardinero, which was a wonderful mix of carrot, cilantro, peach, lime and a semi-spicy pepper of sorts. Collectively, we all thought the service was exceptional because our waitress constantly visited the table. Personally, I thought it was a bit overkill, but that's a very, very minor complaint based on my very, very personal preference.

Having lived in Tijuana, I have had the best birria tacos, and while Taco Loco's birria tacos are not better than what you can get south of the border, they are pretty darn close. They have a full menu in addition to tacos, we also had carne asada sopes. Service is friendly, nothing amazing, but it was friendly and efficient, especially only one young man was working the floor. Ambiance is a bit divey, but I think that's what makes the food taste so good. And a little secret - we liked the tacos so much we went back two days later for more. If you like authentic Mexican food then Taco Loco is a must try.

Updated review…read more Unfortunately, I have to downgrade my previous review from five to three stars based on my most recent delivery experience. A few things that I had issues with. Although we ordered a dessert, the dessert did not arrive with our order. Upon realizing the missing dessert, I called the restaurant to inquire why the dessert was not included in the delivery. The person who answered the phone told me that the dessert was not included because they did not have the ingredients to make it. Ok, I understand that happens from time to time. However, I did not really understand why the restaurant could not have called me to inform me that they could not supply the dessert. When this has happened in past with other restaurants, they usually ask if you would like a refund or another similarly-priced item. Fortunately, it was not a problem to get a refund from Grubhub. The packaging was a mess. We ordered eight tacos, which were delicious, but they jammed them all into one container. By the time, the food arrived the tortillas were pretty stuck to each other. I thought the restaurant skimped on the portion size for the chips and salsa portions, which made the sideway overpriced for $9.
