Bought a car from them March of last year. Received a safety recall in September. It was there 5 months until late February of this year. When I got it back they initially tried to charge me $500 because the battery had gone bad since it was sitting idle in the service department for 5 months. It was missing a back panel on the right side and the driver side window was damaged. Mind you I just got this car in March. I brought it to the service attendants attention and I mentioned that there were pictures taken of the car when I first got there so he can use those to verify my claim. Absolutely the worst and most unprofessional dealership experience I have ever had. El Cajon Ford damaged my car while it was in their care, and instead of taking full responsibility, they gaslit me, covered only the bare minimum repair, and left me to deal with thousands of dollars in ongoing issues. My car was towed to the dealership because it wasn't safe to drive. Instead of inspecting it first or even checking what was wrong, they decided to take it on a drive. While they were driving it, the wheel literally flew off. After that, my car has never been the same. They admitted fault but only did the cheapest "basic repair" possible, refusing to cover the full damage. I asked for documentation, diagnostics, or even surveillance footage of the incident, and they refused every single request. They claimed there are "no cameras" and provided nothing in writing. Instead, they constantly gaslit me, acting like I was at fault -- even though they themselves admitted responsibility at the beginning. Since then, I've spent over $4,000 out of pocket just to get my car back into safe driving condition, and it's still not right. The check engine light is back on, the car shakes while driving, and all because this dealership refused to take accountability beyond the absolute bare minimum. Best place to buy a car, and I don't like Fords! I bought a hard to find Chevrolet Tahoe used there. I got lucky and got the best salesman ever, Omar! My Tahoe had a couple nicks and dings they they fixed them all . I bought it the same day it was traded in so they they had not done a repurchase inspection. They found multiple issues that needed repaired. Repaired all at no additional cost. It took about a month due to a back ordered part from Chevrolet. They give me a free loaner car. Dishonest, incompetent, and rude. I brought my truck in on February 5th needing a new horn. I was told it was $200+ for the diagnosis but that would apply to the repair. Wes, the service tech told me he'd need it for a couple days, maybe until Monday. Monday came and went with no update so I called on Tuesday. I was told there was an oil leak which I authorized the repair and was told I'd receive a call Wednesday by 10:00 am. I called and left a message for Wes with no return call. I called later that day and he was gone for the day. On Thursday I called and left a message but, didn't get a return call. I called at the end of the day and asked for the service manager as Wes was gone again. Another service rep, Derek took the call and said it was an oil pan leak that was covered by warranty. I asked for the total cost and was told it would be $671, that would cover my $100 co-pay on my warranty. Derek offered to get a rental car covered for me. The next day, I picked up the rental. At the end of the day, Wes called to tell me the vehicle was now done and I had to return the rental the next day and pick up my car by 2:00. Not sure why by 2:00 when the service department is open later according to the website. I was told the charge was now $780. Being at work I didn't have time to deal with it. At 7:00 am on Saturday, I called and asked for the service manager. He was off so, they handed me off to Marty, the shop foreman. I explained I was upset about the 10 days they kept a much needed vehicle and that Wes flat out lied to me regarding the diagnosis fee being included in the repair. I told them when I brought it in that I needed a new horn. Marty had Wes in the room on speaker and when I confronted him with the lie, they hung up on me. They took 10 days for 5.1 hours of labor. Besides being dishonest, they're disrespectful of a customers time and need for their vehicle. I've owned 8 Ford vehicles and dealt with close to a dozen Ford dealerships across 5 states. What's sad is I'd give the parts department five stars and the service department zero stars if I could. I wanted to get some parts for my F150. I had to get one on order which I can pick up Monday, and they had the other part I needed in stock so I took it with me when I left. I also needed a code for the keyless entry, and George said no problem. Just go see the service department they can look it up for you. So I went across to the service department, and asked about getting the default keyless entry code for the truck that I had just purchased a couple of days ago. First thing she wanted to know was did I buy it from them, and I said no. She said well it'll be $209 for the code. I told her that was the most ridiculous thing I ever heard in my life and I had Worked in the car business for 20 years and never heard of such a nonsensical bunch of crap. The brain damage going on with today's businesses raping people, is just absurd. I'm going back to pick up the part on Monday that I ordered, but I will never again use this Ford dealership again. In simple language, they can kiss my ass! It's a simple process of going in the computer putting in my trucks VIN number and the code for the keyless entry will just pop up on the screen Takes just a few seconds and they want to charge me $209. I've taken some time to reflect on my experience with this dealership, but unfortunately, my opinion hasn't changed. I'm deeply disappointed in the sales team and the overall trade-in process. My family and I came in on 1/22/25 to trade in our 2024 Kia Telluride and purchase a Ford Bronco. We had visited this dealership previously but were turned away because we qualified for the Z Plan, which they weren't willing to honor at the time. This time, they agreed to honor the Z Plan, and we were excited to finally move forward. The process quickly turned sour during the trade-in negotiations. We knew we were upside down on our Kia, but the initial trade-in offer was insultingly low. After some back-and-forth, the sales manager, Josh, increased the offer by $1,000, bringing it to $32,000. He explained why Kia vehicles don't hold their value, and we felt he was being honest with us. We decided to move forward and signed the paperwork that evening, despite the challenges of purchasing a car with two young children in tow. However, the next day, I noticed a major issue: the mileage on my Kia was listed incorrectly on the trade-in paperwork at 43,000 miles instead of the actual 27,500 miles. This discrepancy significantly impacted the trade-in value. When I checked the KBB value with the correct mileage, my car was worth between $34,500 and $36,500. I immediately contacted the dealership. After some effort, I got ahold of Josh, who only offered me an additional $1,300, bringing the trade-in value to $33,300--still far below what my car was worth. I requested a fair adjustment to $34,000, which was below the low-end KBB value, but Josh refused. He was dismissive and even told me I should be "grateful" he increased the offer at all since the contract was already signed. This completely contradicted the tone and attitude he had displayed the previous day. It felt like the mileage discrepancy was deliberate, as it backed me into a corner with no negotiation power. To make matters worse, the finance department pushed heavily for extended warranties, which dragged out the process unnecessarily when I was already juggling two kids in the dealership. This experience was incredibly disappointing and left me feeling misled. I've purchased several Ford vehicles in the past using the Z Plan and have never been treated this poorly. The entire process felt dishonest, and it's disheartening that everything boiled down to $700 and a lack of integrity. I purchased a 2025 Maverick at El Cajon Ford after searching and waiting for the right model to become available. Due to the high demand of these trucks, that process took about two months and involved me chatting with every Ford dealership in the area. Andrew from El Cajon Ford was the most personable salesman I dealt with during that process, so I was hoping to be able to buy from him, but was ready to buy from any dealership that could supply the Maverick that I wanted. Andrew kept me posted on their inventory of Mavericks with my desired color/trim level and didn't hassle me or try to talk me into anything I wasn't interested in like a few other dealerships did. Where do I begin? From start to finish, this is by far the worst experience I've ever dealt with any business. I took my F150 in for a turbocharger issue, got it towed from the house actually because it was losing power and I did not feel safe driving it. The service agent said they will diagnose it and give me a call. The next day I get a call from the agent and he immediately begins questioning my service history. He then goes on to say that their tech took it for a test drive and the driver wheel fell off. THE DRIVER WHEEL FELL OFF!!!! causing damage to the custom wheel and god knows what else. He tells me that it was a very scary situation for their tech. They go on to DENY DENY DENY. This is in fact what happened, they took the wheel off for inspection and forgot to secure the wheel on before driving it. Mistakes happen, cool but the fact that they denied any fault and tried to put the blame on us that's where the shady, unprofessionalism, neglect comes from. What kind of business are these people running. We asked for surveillance footage, tried to file a claim with their insurance and that got us nowhere. From the technicians to the service agents to the service manager, all were involved in unprofessional conduct. This was a very stressful and horrible experience to go through. EDIT: Per the comment below I called and left a message with Bobby at around 1pm today. At 4:45pm I received a call back from someone else saying that the Owner of the dealership is unwilling to work towards any resolution. Not sure why I was asked to reach out, just to be told no. Was it to look better in the comments? Offer to do something they are not willing to do? I bought from out of state. The salesman and sales manager were nice, but it was hard to get calls back quickly during business hours. The owner however is unwilling to do the right thing. I saw a car online using car edge and it had a single picture from the front of the car uploaded. I did eventually see some photos briefly on the ford website before calling to get some info. While on the phone we ended up coming to terms and he said he'd hold the car for me and work on some paperwork. While I was waiting to see the paperwork I tried to inspect the car a little closer by looking at the website and the car was gone. I asked for pictures and they sent me new pictures and videos with the rear hatch and all the doors open. When I was shipping the vehicle the carrier took pictures and that was the first I could see there was damage to the hatch like it had backed into something at some point despite them showing me it had never been in an accident on paper. There was a dent on the back hatch and the bumper was not lined up correctly with the tail light hit that was hard to see from a distance. This was surprising since they advertised the inspections it went through to be blue certified. It appeared to me that they seemed to purposely keep the damage out of the photos they sent me. They always took pictures with the hatch open and I didn't think to ask to check for damage on it. It definitely seemed odd how quickly they took the pictures off the website and would only send me pictures that wouldn't show the damage. The sales managers and sales person seemed to understand my frustration but according to them the owner was unwilling to make it right. Maybe not a problem if you buy in person but I'd be very cautious on relying on them to be honest and make it right after they acted somewhat shady. And it sure seems like the owner knows the game they are playing when he responds "the pictures were on the website for you to see." Despite them removing the post quickly and not sending the posted pictures when I requested them. Instead took new pictures that concealed the damage. Ford Motor co states they will match tires prices. El Cajon Ford estimated $2000 to replace four truck tires, @$360 each. Discount tire sells the same tire for @$301. They would not match the price since the tires had differnt stock numbers. Of course they do, they are differnt companies.. El Cajon Ford said they would come down to $348 a tire. I decided to go to discount tire, obviously, but stopped by Sedano Ford, literally 10 miles down the road. After a few minutes, Sedano Ford honored (a word foriegn to El Cajon Ford) the Ford Motor Co price match and installed the tires the next day, for $1339 vs El Cajon Ford $2000!! So, I went to El Cajon Ford because they are the closes dealership to my residence under the belief they honored thier advertisement, but be assured, they do not. The service team was rude to me, and was not able to find the problem, so they say. They tore apart my car, including the trunk liner, and didn't bother to put it back the way it was. So in 2023 I had my pick up in there for oil change and they checked to see why the wrench light was on. Was told it was under warranty, BUT they couldn't get the part right away cause of the Covid issue. So I was told I'd get a call when it did arrive. Becky's Mustang had the absolute worst type of problem. The intermittent electrical problem. At freeway speeds the car would suddenly go into limp mode, 75 MPH to 10 MPH in a matter of seconds. A very dangerous situation in any traffic, catastrophic in rush hour traffic. We took it to a shop and it had not registered any codes in the ECM (computer), nor were any codes stored. The shop kept driving it and driving it, their tech took it home to Descanso and back every day for nearly a week. Finally on his way to work one morning it happened and it it stored a code for a throttle body. So they installed a new TB. We took the car and a few weeks later, same problem. It stored a code for the TB again. Not likely at all that we received a defective TB, but that's what the code was so in went another TB. A few weeks later, same problem. This is when we decided that we had better take it to a Ford dealer. They should be more familiar with this type of problem. We took it to El Cajon Ford. I spoke with Brandon Snyder the service advisor. They took possession of the car on a Saturday. The following Thursday he called and said that there were no codes and that they could not replicate the problem. I get it, you can't fix what isn't there. At the same time, I knew that the car was not safe and there was no way Becky was driving it downtown from Santee every day for work. I was going to knock a star off for returning a car that we all knew wasn't safe to drive. Ultimately EC Ford really had no choice. I decided that I would drive the car on surface streets only until the next time it went into limp mode. It didn't take long. A few hours after picking it up, I was driving it and it went into limp mode again. We were never so happy to have a car break down. I had it towed back to EC Ford. Brandon called me a day or so later. The car threw a code for yet another throttle body. We both knew it wasn't a third TB. Brandon and the techs at Ford installed a new one anyway and in doing so discovered that it was not the throttle body at all. It was the connector from the harness to the TB. Brandon called and said, "We found it!" It took a couple of days to get the part. Once EC Ford had the part, it was installed and the Mustang was back on the road. I brought my car in for a 30,000 mile service and replace windshield wiper blades. When I picked up my car, there were deep scratches on the driver side foot rail, and a large white stain on the floor mat. The driver side wiper blade had a broken connector and the passenger side didn't have a blade in it! It had a piece of foam in it. They charged me for the works package but couldn't perform any of the inspections that come along with the package. So I basically got an oil change but charged extra. The service desk would not budge when I disagreed that I should be charged this extra price but didn't receive any of the services. They claimed they tried to do a tire rotation but couldn't get the lug nuts off. They're ford wheels and lug nuts so I'm not sure why they couldn't get them off but the tire rotation wasn't completed so why was I charged for it? Ridiculous. I've also taken my car in there for transmission issues that they did not fix. I ended up having to go to Penske (now Sedano) to actually get the issue resolved. This dealership is a complete joke. I made a service appointment online and noted the issues I was having. I also have an ESP Premium Care warranty. Bought the car in and have been given excuse after excuse from the first day rental to the time it will take to look at my vehicle. Service advisor said they didn't have anyone to look at my suspension so I told him just look at the AC as they have a tech here today that can evaluate. Then I get pulled into the Service Manager's office and was told a big fat lie of an excuse regarding a rental availability and that they usually require 24 to 48 hours to inspect my car which is BS. I'm sitting here as numerous people are coming in for service without an appointment and being told that they can get their issues checked out today. I was also told that there is a 90% probability that it would take over 10 days to get parts in and that my extended warranty rental is good for only 10 days. It was also emphasized that my car is a Lincoln so parts will take longer. I know that this navigator is built on a Ford T1 platform, like the Expedition for that time period and shares elements with the 2004-2008 Ford F-150's chassis. Since I'm a chick, I guess they think I was born yesterday. Not only was the service advisor rude the Service manager was just as rude if not more. I was called into his office like I was back in high school, while they back peddled and told me now it will take 24 to 48 hours to look at my vehicle despite the service advisor telling me they were going to look at it today. He also tried to argue with me that it might not be covered. It's a known issue with Expeditions and Navs. When I schooled him on what the problem was, he was surprised and stated that he has "heard" of that problem. Yeah right, dude. Didn't expect me to know my sh*t huh. Parts are interchangeable and a simple Google search educated me on the issues with my AC. Two days later, I get a call confirming that what I said was the problem was actually the problem. Complete lack of customer service especially for Ford ESP customers. If you're paying cash you'll be in and out of this dealership in no time. Try to use your warranty and you'll be placed at the back of the line and treated like a Tijuana dog. When I picked it up they were super nice to me. Sorry, no excuse for being a complete jack hole 3 days prior. I used to sell GMC's and Caddies. I know how dealerships work as well as the service centers. Take this advise from a girl. Learn to be straight up with your customers, as you never know who your actually dealing with. read more

If you want to save yourself from reading a story, take this away, DO NOT GET YOUR CAR SERVICED HERE, PERIOD. EVER. AND DO NOT BUY A FORD PRODUCT. I had two experiences here in which I had a part replaced under warranty. They provided me a rental car (which took a long time because their ducks weren't in a row and I waited 4 days for them to "put in a claim"). Had no issues with service and car was fixed over a few days which was standard practice. As always, every dealer wanting more money due to high overhead, they recommend a whole new transmission and a handful of other bells and whistles. Never stated anything bad about my battery, transmission or anything else on the car. This ties into the whole story. Second experience I had included paying over $700 for a battery and a negative cable. The replacement of the battery was due to my car shutter and jumping from 1st to 3rd and to 5th gear in a rough motion. After pulling over in the parking lot, car battery died. No clue why, still. The part they replaced prior had directly impacted the transmission and these were not issues before. So I get my dead car towed to the dealership because they were the last to work on my car. I get a call stating that my battery was dead and they quoted my 250 to replace. Followed back up and stated they'd need another 100 to replace the negative terminal and battery cable sensor. I arrive to the dealership and have a bill for $750. The service advisor never provided labor hours but, according to this, if you do the math, assuming $125 an hour for labor, it took a little over 3 Hours to remove a battery and one bolt for a cable and install. You can do this with parts from Autozone and a wrench for $285 yourself . Again, terrible service, shotty labor hours claimed. So I get back in my car. Check engine light is on. Called the service desk and they cleared the code, which they never told me what the code even was. I drive off the lot and my transmission issues continue. They put me in a car that unsafe to drive, cleared a code, and told me I was safe. Drove a quick lap around the block and returned because it was not working correct. I refused to take it off the lot until I was given a diagnosis of what is wrong with my car. I met with the Service Manager and he starts talking about a "buy back" program. Are you kidding me? I am seeing you for service not so you can buy back my car for pennies (more on this later). Fast forward maybe a week. I received a call stating my car was on a lift and they want me to come down and "diagnose" the car issues. I couldn't believe what I heard. They wanted me to diagnose what was wrong with my car. They were supposed to be doing this. They were supposed to COMP this do to the fact that they put me back in a dangerous situation with no work completed for an issue that was not present before a battery changed. They call me the next day and tell me that my car is to be picked up. I talk to the technician and not the service advisor because I want to know the diagnostics. They never completed this. The tech stated that he looked at my car history and recommended a complete transmission rebuild based on car history, model, and what he wrote on a sheet a few months prior. They did no diagnostics. They did not plug it in a relearn the transmission. They only gave me recommendations. Here is the root problem. The car design sucks. The transmission is a bad design and Ford was forced to pay millions for repairs for a few years due to them knowing it was a faulty transmission and losing multiple class action lawsuits. But was a tougher pill to swallow was Fords response to the situation. I feel that El Cajon Ford tried to satisfy me as a customer as best they could with a terrible model. But, only minimally. They didn't apologize for giving me a car with a Check Engine light on. They will never be able to "Buy Back" my car considering it's condition and Ford knows it's a broken design. The Service Advisors and Clerks gossip about customers when there are customers present (not shocking but most talk about the customer behind their back, but not when others are in the waiting room). read more
