I don't generally prefer food trucks, but still had to give El Buen Sabor a try. I was pleasantly surprised at their house-made tortillas and robust flavors. Props for that. On the downside, they bury their tacos in nasty, cold cabbage and their burritos are full of rice, with super skimpy portions of meat. Tasty, but the balance is wrong, just a big old carb fest. I'd rather pay a little more and get the proportions right, so I tried ordering a burrito with extra meat, but all I got was the privilege of paying extra. It's too bad, because this place could be great if they weren't trying so hard to fill you up with masa and rice. As it is, it's just okay. read more

Buen Sabor serves authentic Oaxacan food...and Oaxacan food is the best in the world. Everything is delicious, service is great and the prices are reasonable. My favorite things to order are Memelas and Atole to drink in winter, Horchata in the summer. My hubby has been ordering the tostada lately. After hearing some recommendations from friends I had to try this awesome little joint. I had the carne asada memelas and a chicken taco. The memelas are out of this world. So tasty, the tortilla is slightly thicker and ideally shaped to eat. The meat was flavorful, the black bean paste added great texture and the toppings were fresh and all worked together. I especially liked the rojo salsa. It packed a subtle kick, nothing overwhelming. Would probably stay away from the tacos and go straight for the memelas if you've never had them. Great food. Prices are super fair! The tacos are my favorite (asada and adobo) Branched out and tried the tostada and was a little disappointed with the lack of flavor in the re-fried beans. However, they add fresh avocado on top which you can't beat. It's no wonder it's always packed! read more

This is the ONLY food that comes close to tasting authentically Mexican I have found in the Eugene/Springfield area. I travel to Oaxaca often and this tastes pretty damn close. The memelas are amazing. The tacos are amazing. The sopes are amazing. Bonus is to ask the husband and wife owners if they have made any specific Oaxacan/Mexican drink that day. I was actually headed for a favorite restaurant nearby, to buy myself a celebratory lunch, when I made a spur-of-the-moment decision to stop at El Buen Sabor instead. Thank you, Food Goddess! I ordered the Gorditas, one with pork, the other with chicken, and loved the food so much I was back again the next day to try the Tlayudas... and back again a couple of days later to order Gorditas to share with a friend. This is the best Mexican (Oaxacan) food in Eugene, if not the United States. I have never been so pleased with a meal in my life. This food stand did the job when my boyfriend and I were hungry and craving good authentic Mexican food. There is only one table and some small bar seats but you can definitely order to go. We both ordered the chicken sopes. You can't get different meats on each one and have to order one type of meat for the three sopes that come in a meal. The sopes were a good texture but I felt like it lacked seasoning and was a bit bland. It would have been nice it there was fresh avocado and tomato. The size of the plate was very large and we were super full when we were done. The prices are extremely reasonable which is really nice not to have to spend $12 for a meal every time you're hungry. I am eager to try some other things on their menu like their burritos and their nachos. Street parking is all there is here so you might have to park down the street and walk but probably not very far. If there's a lot of people it can take a while so be prepared to wait. read more

El Buen Sabor is wonderful! My wife and I tried the Tlayudas, and they were delicious: simple, but really flavorful, and filling, but very light and natural, too. The food at El Buen Sabor feels really...correct, somehow. And kinda magical :) On a rainy day, we deeply enjoyed sitting on their covered deck, sipping warm Atole (I think this is what it's called?), and watching the world pass by. The people who run the cart are very sweet and generous, too. We'll definitely return! read more

I had a wet veggie burrito and it was excellent! The burrito was well blended and had potato, which was surprisingly flavorful and worked well as a meat substitute. IMHO, veggie burritos are often boring and bland, but this burrito was truly delicious. The burrito was smothered with green sauce and came with a rather hot and delicious red sauce on the side. The burrito reminded me of burritos in the SF mission, but honestly this veggie burrito was better (sacrilege, I know). Price was good and the burrito was HUGE. I managed to finish it, but could see splitting it in the future unless I was really starving. read more

The BEST authentic Mexican food in Eugene. Bar none. I've been a fan of Belly Taqueria for as long as it has been open, but to be truthful nothing on Belly's menu holds a candle to a Blanda from here. Hand made tortillas filled with incredibly flavorful protein (I've had almost all meat options and they are all equally delicious). I cannot speak highly enough of this place. Incredible food with incredibly friendly and gracious service. If you are debating, go here, you will be glad you did. read more
