I got a mofongo relleno with chicken. It took about half an hour to receive my order and there were no other customers (1 star off). I thought the taste of mofongo was mediocre. Maybe I am just not that into savory plantains that make up the mofongo, but I like sweet plantains much more. I can see how this space can be a great hang-out with a large group of friends, but with the limited number of kiosks open and the long time to get my food, I was disappointed.

Whoever created this place I just wanna say, I love you bro!…read more We absolutely loved this place and had so much fun here. It is laid out so nicely and has just about anything you could want to eat and/or drink. It's a very vibey place and in an excellent area. We enjoyed trying a multitude of ethnic cuisines while here plus some delicious drinks and beer too. I wanna say that the arepa we had was one of the best things I've ever ate. The empanada was so good that my gf almost orgasmed lol The mofongo with shrimp was spectacular. The pizza we ordered to take home before closing hit the spot later that night. The beers were tasty and the mixed cocktails were banging. I could live at this place. Rent me a space so I can throw up a tent and live my life man lol Please check this place out for maximum pleasure. See you again soon... Sláinte,

This is some of the best food I've had in Puerto Rico, and it's also some of the cheapest. It's a…read moreroadside stand inside an old yellow school bus. Yes, you read that right. They converted a BUS into the most kick-ass food stand you've ever seen. You will need a car to get here, but it's totally awesome. It's located in an Industrial Park area, a few minutes drive from the Plaza Las Americas. The Yelp map is approximate but is very close to the real location, it definitely is the right street. The "cafe" is on Ave B off Matadero, just before F. Baragano Inc. I'd recommend arriving between 11 and 11:30, it gets crowded quickly after that. The customers are all local blue collar workers stopping in for a quick bite to eat. The old couple who run the place don't speak much English. It's a very authentic experience. The eating area is a table outside under a tent, or you can stand at the counter. For about $7 you get a huge styrofoam takeout container full of food and a drink. The menu changes daily, usually there's about 3 main dishes to pick from, all real classic Puerto Rican fare like pan fried chicken, chicken breast with onion, or carne frita. I recommend the carne frita if they have it. I also recommend the rice and beans (Arroz con habichuela) and tostones. There's tasty homemade pique (hot sauce). The food is unbelievably good. Better than at touristy places that charge way more. This place can't be beat. For less than a fast food meal, you get real homecooked food and the portions are enormous. A coworker took me here and everyone was a little surprised and amused to see a gringo here but they were friendly and once they realized I spoke a little Spanish we were joking and talking through the meal. The experience is great. If you're at the Plaza Las Americas, I'd drive out here any day of the week rather than eat at the food court.

My Neoyorican friends all warned me that the food was all fried and all super greasy just before I left NYC. They were pretty much correct. Everything is pretty much deep fried from the stuffed potatoes to the mofongo to the pastelillos (aka empanadillas). We had the fried chicken and fried pork chop lunch specials with your choice of yellow or white rice, side of salad, and stewed beans. A huge portion for a relatively small price comes with a canned soda. An awesome meal! Thanks for a fantastic meal, Daisy and Freddy!
