The chips and salsa were amazing. Our entrees were all fantastic. We were full, and you could tell that the food was cooked fresh. Nothing was greasy and the portions were the perfect size. Love the vibes! Food was ok. The experience dwindled when the server refused to split the bill between my group. It was one bill for 4 people and 1 bill for two. This establishment has a policy of not splitting the bill for tables of 6 and more. Ultimately, the server yielded and stated "I'll do it this one time" - which makes no sense. FYI: We weren't told that tables of 6 people and above the bill would not be split. Came here for a date night on a Saturday night (8pm-ish) and service was quite slow and unresponsive. El Azteca wasn't packed or anything, a small stream of folks coming it. They did bring chips out fast like no one's business, so you can always expect chips & salsa on your table. However, it would be TOO long of time before they checked-in with our table, and the place was not busy. We ordered the Chunky Mexican Guac and for $10.50, it was such a small portion it was not worth it. On top of the small portion, it was also not that flavorful-- could have used some more salt and lime. (Also as a personal preference, I think the tomatoes took away from it-- but I know others may enjoy that, so to each their own). I would not recommend ordering. Definitely go for the queso instead. My mind is interested in having Mexican food and trying out the new location El Azteca which has been open for two months. Trying the appetizers Guacamole $2.50 Azteca Bowl $13.50 Carnitas $16.99 I was a bit disappointed knowing that the Carnitas was not cool well was not able to even try the meal I had to ask my waitress to take it back & have it cooked again as she took my plate I was given the rolling eyes behavior & given me a reason to not continue eating here. After speaking to the manager he was very unhappy with his staff & guarantee me that he is looking to do more improvement further in the future. As well, apologize. For the inconvenience, & waiving, the meal from the check and only charging us for the Azteca Bowl. I can only hope they keep their promise and make sure the food is cooked safely and make sure staff change their attitude against customers who take time to eat in El Azteca. read more

The bill came as one and when I went to sign I noticed a 18% gratuity was already added... when I asked why since only 2 people I was told when a bill gets past $70 the 18% is auto added. I pushed further seeing as $50 of our check was 4 drinks which would be a $4 tip if we sat at the bar. When I asked to speak to a manager, which I rarely do at restaurants he continued to explain it was policy. I asked if we had paid separately would it still auto add the 18% and he said yes. I left saying it was an unfortunate policy and I would not be back. I don't mind giving 20%+ for good service and food, I don't appreciate being forced based on the amount I spend. read more

Ambiance is very spacious with a great spaced bar, along with open dining with TWO floors worth of space! We were seated right away on a Friday night. The service overall was average. They gave us complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were crispy and thin but the salsa tasted like tomato sauce from a can. I feel like they need to add a little bit more spice to it. We ordered a jalapeño cheese dip which was really good but the spice from the jalapeño wasn't there. I went here last night. The service was nice however my boyfriend and I both got food poisoning after eating the nachos and tacos. We have really bad stomach cramps along with vomiting. We arrived around ten after 10pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant closes at 11 according to the website and the information on the front door. As we were walking to the hostess stand, I noticed that the host, who was an older gentleman and might have been the manager did not look very friendly or enthused that we were walking into the restaurant. As we approached the host stand, he did not greet us. I smiled and politely told him that there were four of us to be seated. His response afterwards was "we're closing at 10:30 tonight and the kitchen closes at 10:30 as well." I found this to be odd, considering it was a Saturday night, and most restaurants just don't close early on one of the busiest nights of the week for dining out. He proceeded to seat us and with the knowledge that he gave us of the restaurant closing early, we decided to put our orders in fairly quickly. I want to give a shout out to Brenda, our waiter. She was so attentive, so kind, and gave us our food in a timely manner. Not once did she mention that we needed to rush at any point considering they were allegedly closing at 10:30 that night. There were still quite a few tables in the restaurant, so I'm not sure if the host was actually telling us the truth or just didn't want to be bothered with our service. The food overall was pretty good. I ordered a chimichanga as my entrée and it was very filling. The chunky guacamole is good as well, but I will say the serving size is a bit small for the price that I paid. The host/manager definitely left a poor taste in my mouth. I can't help but to think that there were other reasons beyond my control as to why he seemed so cold and unprofessional and he did not want to seat our group. Today however not only did this wanna be server second question everything I was saying she poured a small Rita when I asked for a large and you could tell she couldn't be bothered. I have not received such POOR service from a restaurant in a very, very long time. Considering this is a fairly new restaurant, you would expect much more from this establishment. The wrong meals were brought to our table on two separate occasions. These meals were meant for other customers, yet the service staff seemed to have NO idea where the meals were to go. Our drink glasses remained empty and not filled one single time in the time we were at the restaurant. Chips were delivered once and never replenished. Not one single time did our server ask how our meal was. For a new restaurant, I was disappointed and expected so much more. The Manager was alerted to our disappointment, and all he could say was "sorry." Our server thanked us for "hanging in there with them." Clearly they new that had many, many opportunities to improve. We will NOT be eating here again or recommending them to anybody. Find somewhere else to spend you money where you will be treated as a valued customer!! read more
