    a plate of mexican food

We tried El Azteca for lunch recently after several friends raved about it. In hindsight, I think they were mainly reminiscing about the margaritas rather than the food. We didn't try margaritas on this visit, but I'm sure we would have enjoyed them. However, we did try the food and are kind of on the fence about it. My husband liked what he got - I think it was called alambre (kabobs with meat, seafood, and veggies). It came with rice and beans (?) and a little Mexican salad with guacamole. I had the carnitas which came with rice and beans and a tiny bit of Pico and a grilled pickled jalapeno. The rice and beans were good. The meat was tender and juicy. But it was boring without a sauce to dip it in. And it was so fatty - probably half of it was fat. I did order a side of guacamole but it just didn't really do it for me. Typically I love carnitas but I usually just got it in tacos. I think I will stick with that from now on. Anyway, it was just a so so visit for us. If our friends ever want us to join them for margaritas, we may find ourselves here again but until then, I don't think so.

Nice restaurant that serves Mexican cuisine. They do have several other locations within Delaware, like in Dover and Rehoboth Beach. Plenty of room for seating, especially for a large party. Staff was attentive, and atmosphere was pleasant. Their menu contained a good variety to choose from. Portions was plenty and pricing was competitive. However, the flavorings just doesn't seem as authentic. It just seems to lack a bit of true seasoning. There are other options in Middletown that provides a more authentic taste, but that's for another time and review. Overall, this place offers a good value if you seek Mexican cuisine.

We love coming here. Family friendly, quick service, and delicious food. Definitely worth the drive to Middletown. Portions are a great size. I like the Alambres. Here is a picture of the Grande Special, which costs $15.00. My husband is getting 3 meals out of this!

Their dishes are delicious. My favorite is the Chicken Fajitas. The drinks are amazing all being served by a wonderfully friendly staff!

We ordered Carnitas Fajita. It would be better named Vegetable Fajita with some roast pork pieces.

So I called this restaurant to order out using dash as a means of delivery and the food was not worth anything. The restaurant that was there before them was 1000% better and I wish they were still there but these new owners or at least the person that I spoke to on the phone was very nasty and mean. She even told me that maybe I was drunk well actually I was recovering from a stroke and I was in the rehabilitation center getting therapy and my voice had changed after my episode so maybe that's why she said that but still I think that was disrespectful and rud as I am a customer. I cannot recommend this place at all to anyone. I still got my order and as I said earlier, the food was not good at all, as a matter fact, I refused to eat it and threw it out so what did I lose? I lost the price of my food and DoorDash cost and my tips. I love Mexican food, well I still had "blue Mezcal" who have excellent service and they are not rude and the food is delicious. For a better experience advise you to go to blue Mezcal in Middletown justice couple of doors away from "thrive physical therapy" .

The service was pleasant although a little on the slow side but I think our server was likely in her last trimester. Both were yummy, especially when we put the delicious green sauce on them - had it not been so spicy, I would have eaten that stuff with a spoon. It was like a smooth creamy guacamole type sauce. Literally so good. Anyway, speaking of salsa, the salsa that we came home with to go with our chips was seriously disappointing - it was nothing but juice with barely any chunks of veggies in it (see pic). It wasn't like a smooth pureed salsa either - I don't know what it was or how they could have even sold it to us. We'll be visiting them again, since the tacos were so good, but if we order chips and salsa again, I will certainly be inspecting it before we leave. Still scratching my head over that one! Oh we also tried the dried pineapple with spicy chili powder on it - it was a nice treat with a little bit of a kick.
