I went to the Head Start preschool next door, Plaza de Raza back in the 80s. My mom would get me a concha before school once or twice a week. After 40 years, when I bit into it, it brought me back to my 4 year old self. It's rare that places haven't changed and I'm glad they're still in business.

    My order for today

Loyal customer for about twenty years, but I find myself writing this review because something needs to be done. The tamales I ordered for my brothers bday today were horrible. 6 pork 6 cheese - they tasted bad we had to throw them. Our Rosca was soooo dry! A co worker brought one of her own and we couldn't believe the differences. The avena and champurrado and conchas never disappoint. They were good. Just asking that they listen to customers and i won't stop going but I'll never buy tamales again.

I've been looking for a new place for pan dulce and tamales. This is not the one. Unlike some stores where you can get your bread yourself, this one is pulled from behind a glass case by an employee. The piece pictured is one of two that looked edible from the top but when we got it home it has this weird black moldy stuff on the underside. We also got a few tamales, red pork which was OK, and green chile cheese that was terrible. I don't know what type of cheese is used but it was a rubbery lump that squeaked when chewed it. I pushed the cheese aside and tried to eat only the masa, but the last half was raw. How can a shop stay in business selling such poor quality foods.

Old school since 1973. This is a neighborhood staple and every time I come here there are customers picking out their favorite baked goods. The interior is small but they offer a wide range of baked goods and the line was out to the sidewalk. It was Xmas eve and my daughter requested for me to buy some tamales, usually they are sold out but this time around they had them in stock. I guess other bakeries and restaurants are offering tamales so now there's competition in this area.

I bought this Tamale de Queso Chile Verde at el Aguilar bakery and this is what I got , wouldn't recommend it .

I bought this tamale this morning before heading to work and this is what I got . Wouldn't recommend it

We went for tamales and bought 2 of each. We ended up throwing them all out. They were raw. All bought bread and also raw. Such a disappointment and waste of money & food.

I wanted to try the tamales today and was sadly disappointed, they smelled fresh ! But I am unsure of what I was eating the whole time , I got a chicken tamale and a cheese one . The one that's PICTURED is the cheese tamale , it was much more flavorful but the masa was uncooked and I cut it open and witnessed a very rubbery, hard orange thing ? I was trying to see if it was cheese but once id get it to rip apart with my fork it looked like a random piece of meet.? I ended up throwing it away sadly , it was also very mushy . The pollo tamale was very dry and mushy ! I'm not sure how it's possible to be both but it was ,sad I wasted my money :(

    Cute cake decorations.

I only go there to buy their bolillo's. Unfortunately their sweet bread is not at the quality it used to be and it's unfortunate.

Orange Blossom Almond Croissant -personally was disgusting, orange blossom was extremely strong. Too fragrant that it tasted like a floral bath bomb or soap. Some do like this but it wasn't for me. Passionfruit cream filling wasn't too sweet. I loved the tart passionfruit seeds. But you might want to scoop some out if you don't enjoy too much sourness. Elderflower Rhubarb Danish - way too crunchy, would prefer it to be crispy instead of a crunch. Filling was good, not too sweet. Black Sesame Parisian Flan -if you love black sesame, this would be right up your alley. Perfect sweet treat to bring to any auntie's home! Blueberry Tea Scone -not too dense. Surprisingly not too sweet even with the demerara sugar coating. It wasn't really crunchy but more sticky and caramelized from sitting.

Not sure if there is a consistent long line every weekend since it was a holiday, but my initial thought was either this place has really good pastries and cakes or it can be just all hype. As we made it in, you order as you walk down the selection of pastries then to the cakes. I ordered a danish with strawberries, chocolate croissant, almond croissant, tiramisu, and a yuzu cake. At the end we were pleasantly told our order came with two complimentary macarons so we got the cookoes and cream and passionfruit. Afterwards, we sat at the store to try the danish since we were hungry. Have to say it measures up to another one of my favorite patisseries that is located in Del Mar called Clemente. The danish texture was soft yet super flakey, and the thin layer of vanilla cream to strawberry ratio was perfection. It's so hard to find places that have exceptional quality croissant pastries, but this place is on the top of our list for LA. We enjoyed the cakes at home afterwards, but everything was so delicious. Unfortunately we forgot to take oir own ice packs and took a minute to get back home so the cakes slightly melted, but even after putting them in the fridge to enjoy later, they were so good! I got a sausage bbang, a chocopie, and a dalgona latte. The sausage bbang was soggy on the bottom and honestly tasted like it was from the day before. The chocopie barely had any filling, just a thin layer of marshmallow and jam. It honestly felt like they used most of the marshmallow for their Dubai choco cookie because it's probably more profitable, instead of properly filling the chocopie. If that's the case, it's better not to sell it at all than serve something like that. The dalgona latte was also disappointing. With ice, the drink only filled to the bottom third line of the cup marking. Clearly, they skimped on the milk. There was also a weird moment when I paid. My total was $15.25 and I paid cash, but I was given $4.75 in change. When I said it should be $5, she seemed confused and asked what I meant.
