Chorizo/Cheese stuffed sesame seed Bolillo Roll ready to go $2.50
    Ernie A.

This was my first visit. I liked their ready-to-go items, many tempting types of Mexican Pan Dulce/Sweet Bread that I've never seen before, as well as traditional favorites, all oven fresh. I bought a Chorizo and Cheese, and a Ham, Cheese with Jalapeno stuffed sesame seed baked bolillo rolls for $2.50 each. A light snack, when on the go. Two came out cheaper than one typical hamburger. They also have a Tuna empanada/turn over for the same price. Breakfast burritos $7.

    Their tortas are BOMB.

Everything I said in my previous review still holds true, only now I'm uping them to 5 star status. I got my co-workers hooked on their breakfast tortas. We place the order the night before and I drive by to pick them up on my way to work. We have a system: I tell Capulina how many tortas I'm ordering and they mark the individual paper bags with a number so that each person gets their specific request. Their tortas are a hit and each time we order the number of people ordering seems to grow. Give it a try just make sure to bring cash and include the tip in each person's order so that you have enough for a tip. $6 a head seems to be both reasonable and generous. We can vouch for the following tortas: Chicken Tinga Chorizo y Papa (extra to add egg but worth it) Carne Adobada Each torta comes with the following: Mayo Beans Onion AVOCADO! Jalapeños Tomato Lettuce

Little plain piggy...Taste like wheat and bread. No ginger or spice taste at all!

Panaderia Morelos is an authentic mexican bakery. Really good, yummy lookin' sweets. From cake slices to avena they have it. The pricing on pastry is alittle higher than average because, this is an actual bakery bakery. (But still can be lower, I think) The pricing on the food like tamales, bolillo con queso and more is average. Ranges from $1.50-4.50. I only saw one fruit fly in the cabinet with the pastry's. So that isn't too bad considering they have a B in health rating. For an authentic bakery you figure the pan dulce would taste better. O well

    Fruit Tart $3.50

Panaderia Morelos is a Mexican bakery that serves authentic-tasting baked goods. They have pan dulce options like Conchas, Cuernitos, Empanadas and their version of a Ding-Dong Chocolate cake. I was in the area and wanted a snack so I decided to check it out and I Loved their options! They have fresh bread options and they make food like Tortas and Croissant sandwiches . This Fruit tart caught my eye and it was only $3.50 It was definitely a good choice!

Second time here at it's super great.

Second time here prices are great bread is super delicious and soft. Service is great bread and other things they have look so bomb. Tried a good portion of breads and wow they taste fresh. Will be coming here again and again and definitely will recommend this to anyone who can appreciate great tasting bread and other great foods. Don't forget the coffee they put cinnamon in it as well. Two thumbs and and more.

This is my favorite place to come and get pan dulce (sweet bread). It is a really good place. It's a small cozy place, Mom and pop store. The bread is really good but it doesn't end there. They have Tortas with fresh made bolillo (French role). They also have Gelatinas really good! I got my sons cake here and they offered to put his picture on the cake(edible) really good!

Best huevo con chorizo torta, I've ever had!!!!

Capulina Bakery was exactly the type of Bakery Boyle Heights needed. I have lived in this area for over 14 yrs now and had not found a bakery to overthrow La Favorita on 4th Street until now!!! The bread is baked fresh daily, I know this because I work right next to this place and can smell the delicious goodness everytime I walk to my car!!! Not only do they have bread, but they can actually whip up some lunch for you. They have Tortas, Tostadas, Tamales, Ojaldras and Croissants. If you're an early bird, stop by in the morning and they could custom cook some breakfast for you!!! I highly recommend the Pay de Queso, Ojaldras de Mole, and either the Tortas or Tostadas de Tinga if you like to eat spicy!!!

The best bolos in Easter LA. They have amazing tamales as well. Good place to buy your cafecito and your champurrado in The Morning.

Their pan dulce is pretty good, the bolillo they make is pretty awesome and even better in their tortas.

We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and everything was presented really well. The enchiladas were flavorful, the grilled fish was cooked perfectly, and the tortillas with the short rib were a table favorite. Portions were great for sharing, and the sauces really tied everything together. Service was friendly and our server checked in on us throughout the night without making us feel rushed. It did get a little busy, so there were a few waits between courses, but nothing that took away from the experience. Overall Great atmosphere, solid food, and a fun place for birthdays or date nights. I'd definitely come back!!

When we…read morearrived, we were told the Dine LA menu was already sold out--which was confusing since they open at 6 PM. Our waiter then told us we needed a specific Dine LA reservation, something that was never mentioned when I called or when I made the reservation. I've been to plenty of Dine LA restaurants and have never experienced this. The service wasn't necessarily bad, but it was very dismissive. No apology, no real explanation--they basically just brushed it off. Thankfully, the food saved the night! The Michelada oysters were TO DIE FOR--seriously one of the best oyster flavors I've ever had. We also had the short rib plate, which was delicious. The outdoor atmosphere and decor are really cute too. I would come back, but ONLY for those oysters--definitely not for the service.

Yes, you get all three so no hard choices have to be made. My first impression of the beans was that they were no biggie but last night they were fire! I almost ordered a plate to take home. You have been warned the ceviche tostada has a kick but squirt some lime on it if you need to and you will survive. As for the guacamole, it's guacamole - need I say more? For my entree I went with the snapper, which came with escabeche, lime, pineapple, cilantro, green onion, and chili rub. In the past, I've strictly stuck to their small plates and I feel that's still the way to go. Nothing wrong with my snapper, I just love all the other little plates more. I went with one other person and only one piece of cheesecake came out. Supposedly it was a bigger slice but looked like an average size to me. This cheesecake is made with manchego cheese so don't expect an overly sweet treat. I did enjoy it. But, I also ordered their flan that is only available in August and I found that to be better than the cheesecake. Get both as one is limited edition. We also got the fried chicken tacos. We were told they were pretty spicy but I felt the ceviche was spicier. They were tasty but did not live up to their oxtail tacos they used to have. Also, squirt some lime on these tacos - you're welcome. This is one of my fave places to dine during peak weather season. Go check them out. Tip: street parking is available if you get there at 5 otherwise valet is $15. Trust, you do not want to park your car anywhere other than that one block where the restaurant is located.

There were many families eating dinner and many larger parties that looked like they were celebrating something special. We were all famished after fighting through LA traffic on a weeknight. I'm pretty sure we ordered at least half the items on the menu. Every dish ordered was fine, edible, not burnt but just ok. While I am by no means a connoisseur of Oaxacan food, I am perplexed at the number of reviews raving about this restaurant. It's fine, there nothing wrong with the food, but I, personally, don't think it's rave worthy. I've been here 2x now. I'll come back to a place especially when it's on a "best of" list and I wasn't impressed. I always think it may have just been a bad day or perhaps I didn't order well. Next time I see this spot on a "best of" list I'm going to find out WHAT dishes I should've ordered.
