It's been many years since I last went to Las Margs. I used to go pretty often, but there was this…read moreguy who worked there, who was always rather pompous, I always assumed he was the owner. It soured me on the place, so I just stopped going. But recently, a coworker suggested we get lunch there, and I figured it had been long enough to try it again. I'm really happy I did. The vibe is great, sort of a sports bar feel but with a Mexican twist, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I got the Reunion Combo, and it was a ton of food. It had a chicken tamale and a crispy relleno covered in this really tasty pork green chile, a red chile cheese enchilada, and a ground beef crispy taco. Everything was delicious, and the plate was huge. I definitely felt like I got what I paid for with the meal. The only thing I didn't like was the $4 ice tea. It kind of feels like a cheap way to make the bill bigger at the end, but honestly, the food and the better service made it worth it. I'm glad to have this spot back on my list for lunch in Commerce City.

This is gentrified nonsense at its peak, watered-down recipes, dry tortillas, bland meat, and a price tag that makes you wonder if you accidentally walked into a 5-star restaurant, except the food tastes like it was cooked in a dorm microwave using ingredients from the bargain bin. You can taste the cheapness. The salsas are basically tomato water. The portion sizes are a robbery, $14 for what amounts to a sad, overhyped taco filled with meat that clearly wasn't marinated or seasoned. It's clear there's no love in what they do and this is just a cash grab hiding behind a trendy food truck aesthetic and a name that feels more like a parody than an homage. If you love real Mexican food, skip this soulless disappointment.
