The barbacoa torta was pretty good but there was far too much fat on it. The chicken fajita plate was a decent portion. While a little dry, it was seasoned well and pure pechuga. My husband had the al pastor and when I asked how he liked he grumbled that it was "good". Not the best review from a taco junkie. All in all the food was what you'd expect from a taco truck. The real issue is the price. We ordered 2 plates and a torta, a jarriotos and a can of cola. She didn't give me a receipt and every time I attempted to pay her the cash she ignored me. I ordered an al pastor, lengua, and asada taco, and honestly, they were all so good. The asada was my favorite, but the other two were right behind it. The meat was flavorful, and the salsas had some heat to them, which I appreciated!!! My boyfriend ordered the chicken burrito, and it was just okay. The chicken was shredded and could've used a little more seasoning for my taste. I'm also not a huge fan of lettuce in a burrito, so that may have played a part in it not being my favorite. That being said, I'm definitely coming back because those tacos were SO good. Next time, I want to give the burrito another shot and order it my way. The best thing about the Taco's at Ashley's is that they seem to be much less greasy than most of the Taco trailers I have visited. I've also noticed that she is very generous with the bacon in her Bacon and Egg taco's. I haven't had a chance to try the Torta's yet, but you can bet as soon as I get the chance to get over here for lunch I will take it. Farmers markets are supposed to be welcoming, family-friendly spaces where local vendors, farmers, nonprofits, faith groups, and community members can come together safely and respectfully. Unfortunately, I witnessed something that made the environment feel anything but welcoming. There was a small religious group with a table at the market, and as someone passed by, they shouted offensive racial and religious slurs at the men working the table. It was completely uncalled for. Rather than engaging in any kind of respectful conversation, this person chose to be hateful and intimidating in a public community space. I understand that the organizers may not be able to identify or remove every person who behaves this way, but I do think the market should be more proactive about making its expectations clear. A farmers market should feel safe for everyone, including vendors and community organizations that may be more likely to face harassment. Clear signage, public reminders, or stronger policies against hate speech and intolerance would go a long way. I hope the organizers take this seriously and make it clear that racism, religious intolerance, and harassment are not acceptable at this market. The community deserves a space that truly feels supportive, inclusive, and safe for all.
