Came here for the Yelp Elite event and what a cute cozy spot for some chai, sandwich, samosas, and snacks! I love the story of the beautiful couple that started this and you can taste the love they put into the food and chai. With free wifi and several tables, this is a great place for lunch or a mid-afternoon chai with snack. I ordered the paneer sandwich, masala chai, and they automatically gave me 5 small onion samosas, and a bag of snacks. They make the food fresh per order so there's a small 7 minute wait but worth it for fresh made to order food! The onion samosas are a cute snack size and love the flavours! I usually need chutney but these were packed with enough flavours that it was perfect on its own. Chai was not overly sweet and really tasty! Usually restaurants make them overly sweet or too full of ginger but this was a good balance. Paneer sandwich had a nice kick to it with cut up paneer and corn niblets. Served with a small side of chips, this made a perfect lunch size! The snacks were crispy and had a really good spice level! My boyfriend and his Dad were more than happy to keep the bag of snacks to finish lol. Authentic cute spot with friendly service. Will definitely be back! Thanks to Yelp, Anushka, and Ek Chai Kahani for having me and throwing this great event!

This cafe was cozy and relaxing and service was friendly. I was impressed with their selection of chai, I didn't know there were so many different varieties. My friend and I tried elaichi chai and ginger chai and they were both so comforting on a cold, rainy day. I love mango so I tried their mango shake, which was creamy with a strong mango flavour...highly recommend if you want a cold drink! Their vegetarian snacks are packed with flavour and perfect for sharing. We both love noodles so we tried their kung fu maggie, which came with a side of chips. Their onion samosas were bite-sized and came warm and crispy. My fave was the paneer paradise sandwich, every bite was a piece of cheesy heaven.

I'm not a huge fan of chai but I'm alwyas up to try new spots so I was so happy to have discovered Ek Chai Kahani! They serve a variety of traditional Indian snacks, drinks and street foods! On my visit, I discovered that I actually like chai but thought I didn't because I've never had GOOD chai. Consider me converted because their Masala chai and Kadak chai were an absolute delight! We also tried their spicy potato stack toasty, Sev Puri, Curry puff and Dhokha! All the dishes packed a flavourful punch! Highly recommend!

Saw this place on tiktok and had to give it a try. My bestie and I were visiting from America…read more The food and atmosphere was so amazing. The girl working behind the counter was so sweet and recommended some stuff off the menu. We loved everything we had. Even talked to some locals inside and they were so friendly and gave us some more recommendations in the area.

The menu has shrunk considerably and their business days/hours are also a lot less than what it was previously. The drinks were not as tasty as they used to be. My Blue Rose drink was the best of the bunch and I would say even that was just OK. I enjoyed the Lychee jelly in my drink. That was probably the best part of the drink. The liquid part was kinda "meh" for me. I think the best thing we ordered was the matcha soft serve ice cream. On the flip side, there was a guy playing piano there and they were taking requests. I suggested Demon Slayer and the guy played the famous "Gurenge" song by Lisa from season one of Demon Slayer. That was kinda cool. He was a very good pianist. Great way to liven the atmosphere. Also, there was a guy who came around and gave us all tiny paper cranes. It's nothing much, but still always nice to be gifted with anything at all. Business must be hard for them. It would sure be nice to see them return to how they used to be, with a bigger menu, tastier drinks and more days/hours again. We love this place for the manga/ anime vibes that it exudes, and love the Matcha soft serve ice cream they sell here. Really wanna give this place a higher rating but the drinks were really not up to par this time, and as much as we love the Matcha ice cream, it is not by itself enough to warrant giving out a higher rating. If they could just improve the quality of their drinks again...then even if they menu remains limited, at least if everything they serve is of good quality...that would be enough to merit a higher rating.

Back in Vancouver, and of course the gloomy weather calls for brunch. I'd been here before for…read morecoffee and a donut, but I got curious to try their brunch as well. This place is especially known for their mochi donuts, which have a really interesting texture, very chewy with a bit of crispiness on the outside. I'm generally not a huge donut fan, and this version is still a little greasy, but the texture is definitely unique and worth trying at least once. We were surprisingly the first customers of the day, which was great since the line is usually pretty long (it's a pretty hyped-up spot). Avocado Benedict ($22) 3/5 I ordered this for a lighter take on bennies, but in my opinion they added way too much hollandaise. Combined with the avocado, everything ended up tasting overly rich. The eggs were perfectly poached though, and the tater tots were also nicely crunchy. Mortadella Sandwich ($15) 4/5 My friend, who loves this place for brunch, said this is her favourite menu item and I can see why. I feel like it's underrated since most people go for the bennies or the chicken pancakes, but I'd highly recommend this instead. The texture combination is great: thinly sliced mortadella, an egg layer that almost feels like a crepe, and crispy onions. The tobasco sauce also helps balance everything out and makes the dish feel lighter.

We ordered a few things to share and everything landed. The fried chicken, pancake combo was the star for me, crispy, well seasoned chicken with a fluffy pancake, plus a little syrup on the side that pulls it all together (sweet-salty perfection). We also tried a poached egg plate with crispy tater tots, super comforting, and the sauce was rich without being too heavy. The other dish had a generous topping of fresh greens and a creamy element underneath, which made it feel balanced and not overly "brunch-bomb." Drinks were great too, my iced matcha was smooth and not overly sweet. Why not a full 5? It can feel a little pricey for the portion sizes, and it's more of a "treat brunch" than an everyday spot. But overall, the flavors, vibe, and execution were strong and I'd absolutely come back when I want a cute, relaxed brunch with a friend.
