When this was brought to their attention they claimed the description is accurate because they use the words photographic print. Apparently they don't get the difference and even if their made up description says photographic print that that covers all processes. The description also states frame. But no frame was included. Recently drove to this auction house all the way from my home in Palm Springs, California because they had quite a selection of glass Telephone insulators which I collect. Staff was very helpful and took all the time I needed to see the lots that I wanted. The online bidding was easy. (Tip: bid on their auction site, fees are less there than auctionzip) Their showroom is quite impressive, everything from antiques to automobiles... and lots of tools and furniture. It seems to me that when you put in a max bid, lets say $500, and the last bid on that item is $200 from some one else, so they ask for $225, and if no one bids any more you should pay only $225, but it seems every time they say fair notice, fair notice all of a sudden it jumps up to my max bid of $500, which is totally a scam read more

I am a continued customer and will be. Their warehouse is clean and organized. The staff is helpful for the most part. I bought quite a few items and was left to my own to find them. They were extremely busy so I'm not sure if this had something to o do with it. Only two issues; I bought an item that was not described correctly. They wanted me to buy it. I told them no and showed them how it was wrong. The time was removed at no fault to me. Their website is cumbersome. Especially with the favorites etc. good luck! read more

Good all-around auction house. I've participated in probably about 30-40 of their online auctions. The products they sell always match the descriptions, and I've seen several listings that state "Come down and take a look before bidding" when there may be an issue. Pick-up can be a little difficult at times; with it being a large warehouse running multiple concurrent auctions, it makes sense, but you'll sometimes go in to pick something up and it'll take 15 minutes to just get one small item, due to either low staffing, something not being where it was expected, etc. Probably the best auction house in the valley for online auctions. read more

Both my wife and I have been buying customers and selling consignors of this company for a while now. Until now, we've always been satisfied as both. A few weeks ago, I brought Neil three different watches to consign. I had initially emailed him detailed photos and links to the manufacturer's websites to identify them. It was to be a very easy transaction with a complete and accurate description/photos included. I eagerly awaited seeing a listing for two weeks, but I realize as busy as they are, it could take a few weeks. I finally found the listing for auctions ending on 7/5/2025. To say the least, I'm very disappointed as to the both the final information and photos presented. I live some distance away, so I realized I'd have a bit of time invested to accomplish this. I arrived on time, but was told after waiting about 15-20 minutes that Neil wasn't there. They arranged to have someone else take the consignments. Neil planned on listing all three watches as one lot, but the other person taking them in for consignment thought that they'd be listed separately. I agreed with this strategy, because I know I won't bid on a multi-item lot of I don't want all the other things included. Listing them separately certainly made sense. Previously, I had sent Neil a detailed email about the watches, their conditions, that they kept perfect time due to all having fresh batteries, plus links to the manufacturer's websites where the person creating the description could conveniently get all the specs of each watch to create a professional listing. The photos I sent were infinitely better than the ones taken by EJ's for the auction listing. What I spent for batteries exceeded the final auction bid by over $20 - before commissions and fees. Since few jewelers even provide battery replacement anymore, knowing these batteries were new would probably have increased the interest in these watches. I also get that there's no way to know the batteries were fresh, but mention could have at least been made that all of them were keeping accurate time. Next, whomever wrote the description is unaware how a watch is measured. It's the diameter of the dial, but the description lists the overall length of the watchband from end to end! Really??? As I said, the links I provided would've given all the specs, but they chose to ignore them. At the very least, the dial circumference measurement could easily have been ascertained using a metric tape measure. I don't think these people even know the industry standard for measuring watches are listed in millimeters, not inches. Finally, each week when viewing their on-line auctions, they usually have three general categories that items are listed under. Their listings are very inconsistent, where watches, for example, can often be found in any of them. They should keep all their items placed consistently under just one category and preferably close together, so buyers looking for a watch don't have to look through almost every listing. When I first saw the listing after it went live, I emailed Neil what I thought was friendly advice, making some constructive suggestions to improve the listing. I never heard back from him, nor anyone else. The piss-poor description, along with really bad photos, remained on-line the entire time. Of course, this is why three high quality watches only sold for $40. I'd think that it would be in their best interest to get higher bids for their clients as well as maximizing profits for themselves. What I saw, and consistently see with EJ's, is that there is very little effort put into anything. Bids are low, and by reviewing the many different reviews found on-line, they don't seem to care. If they did, things would change. The peeves I have with my listing could've easily been corrected during the week the auction was posted. The quality and professionalism exhibited with my auction is something you'd expect to see in a Craigslist ad or at a small garage sale - not a professional auction house. In their business, many of their buyers are not local and cannot actually see the item(s) in person. Buyers rely on detailed, accurate descriptions/photos. I know someone who just lost his mother, and he mentioned he'll be looking for an estate liquidation company that can sell everything for the most money possible. Believe me, EJ's WILL NOT be one I recommend. Sorry for the long review, but potential consignors need to know what they're likely to encounter with this company. read more

So many of the items there are broken, or defective. I think they auction off junk that didn't sell a garage sales.

Products are very unique however the customer service is sub par. They added an item to one of my many purchases which I did not bid on. I explained this to the front desk they said they would contact management. Got an email saying they looked into it and said I was responsible for the item. I explained to management that I've purchased thousands of dollars worth of products from them and this particular item has never been anything I would have purchased. They threatened that if I didn't pay then my account would be deactivated. They have lots of unique items so I payed for the item but I would not recommend them strictly because they don't care about their customers. What they should have done since I have been a loyal consumer for years is put the item back in their next auction and found another buyer. Other people had bid on this item and I told the auction that they should contact the buyer that was the next highest bidder. They wouldn't do it. Now they have a very unhappy customer. I had to stay on top of my bidding especially if I was bidding in 2 auctions at the same time. Going from one to the other. So many people, extremely busy a lot of fun and excitement. I miss those days. I believe you could also bid over the phone . EJ's staff have always been polite and very professional. Answered any question that I had on any item that I was interested in bidding. Bidding online is extremely easy. Paying online is also very easy. If you live nearby you can pay in person and pick up your item on the same day.. EJ's will also ship your item to you. You will need to pay for Shipping and Handling.. You can also pick up a firearm in person. A background check is required. EJ's does not charge extra for the background check, If you cannot pick up in person. Your firearm will need to be shipped to an FFL dealer. You will need to pay for Shipping and handling. You can find and get good deals at auctions.... Words of advice: Preview if you can. CHARGED ME $38.01 TO SHIP WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN $19.29 IF THEY HAD ANY IDEA OF WHAT THEY WERE DOING. WHAT A RIP-OFF. Purchased a group of trains from this house. Trains would have easily fit into a 4 x 8 x 16" box weighing 4 pounds. Instead, EJ's packaged them in two intertwined 10 x 10 x 10 boxes which ended up measuring 20" in length. Cost me $38+ for UPS. Received the box and it was 90% peanuts, meaning that EJ's basically shipped me three pounds of air in the boxes. UPS charges rate by weight or volume which ever is more. IF THE CORRECT BOX SIZE HAD BEEN USED it would have cost me about $19, so I'm out $18+ for EJ's basically shipping me air due to the fact they they were either too lazy or just don't care about their customers. My wife and I purchased some very large art work and the movers flaked so we had to do it ourselves last minute. Beware of deception. Customer service was terrible. I won the bid on a model airplane and was greatly disappointed when I went to the auction house to pick up my prize. . The way the plane was advertised and photographed was very misleading. It showed an open box along with a finished built plane which led me to believe the plane was built. When I opened the box there were 100s of pieces with some missing. It was a remote control plane and I thought the motor and controls were included. All the ad said it was an open box with some usage. Further description of exactly what level and condition and what was included is definitely called for. All the manager kept in saying is "a picture is worth a thousand words". The managers excuse held no weight. Not if the picture is inadequate. I am a pro photographer and the photo was not close enough to show what was in the box. When an item is sold at an auction all angles and through descriptions should be revealed. Hiding any description is bad business practicing. Be careful and do complete research while bidding at this auction house. read more

Do not recommend doing business with EJ's Auction & Appraisal. Descriptions labeled as "perfect condition" when it defiantly is not! They will not send you what you bought and paid shipping fees for. Do not purchase anything as it will get damaged in handling. When confronted over the phone Ms.Nicole will have attitude, act like you owe her something, (only thing I owe you is a couple slaps) and will put you on hold MULTIPLE times just to hang up!! I spent at least $20,000 in this auction, I was always treated in a professional & friendly way by all the staff as a regular that buys something almost every week. I bought a 3gm piece of jewelry last auction, paid it instantly and stopped by to pick it up Monday afternoon as I always did. The front desk girl insisted to charge me $10 penalty, she claimed that I am an hour late as I should have picked it up by noon, when requested to speak to the manager she refused. It can be a bit of a mixed bag. Sometimes they have very nice stuff, and other times, it's kind of garage sale quality goods. It's nice that there's a mixed bag though, because you can sometimes find some treasures if you look hard enough. The scheduling is a bit funky, but if you know that you can't come for pick up the day after the auction, then you probably shouldn't bid. I've had to forgo bidding several times because of that policy. I wish they would get back to in-person auctions again, as it was considerably more fun that way. Also, you get to wander around and look more closely at what is coming up for auction. Of course they take pictures, but there's nothing better than seeing stuff in person. They do have preview days, but they are pretty far away for me to drive all the way out there unless the item coming up for bid is going to be expensive. My main criticism is on the condition reports. The condition reports are usually quite generic and don't always tell you much of what's wrong with the piece. They have gotten better over the years, but if you're going with a mainly online sale structure, I would like a bit better explanation of any issues. read more

Inflexible and rude, what has happened to this place. We use to love coming here for the Saturday auctions. Several weeks ago they had Higher priced vehicles up for auction, They make a big deal to come and open up the vehicles and will not let you get inside of them, and they will not start them for you. They seemed to have forgotten that us bidder are customers that make them money and keep them employed Every other word out of their mouth is NO I cant do that, I will get fired. We are not allowed to help you. and so on. The young girl at the back door during pick up time is the snottiest, lazy, rude, unfriendly young punk I have ever meet. Now I know things will change at business, but I hate feeling with this and any business that I owe them something, remember I vote with my $'s and which keeps your business running and your employees employed. and I choose to take my $'s to other auction. read more

Highly disappointing experience today. While I have purchased from EJ's in the past, the items where constructed of metal, and arrived safely. Today I received a 5 inch porcelain plate that was pictured and described as in excellent condition. Absolutely no chips in picture. Apparently they are sloppy in handling fragile goods, as the plate now has a chip. Do not purchase anything that can possibly be damaged in handling, as it will lead to disappointment. (The packaging for shipping was quite good, so clearly it was damaged by whoever handled this item at EJ's). read more

My husband and I have gone to EJ's for years. Love their variety of merchandise and everyone has always been friendly. However this mornjng we went to look an antique disc music box that was behind the counter. There was a gentleman that helped us and he had removed the steel disc inside so we could make sure the comb was not damaged. As he was putting it back he was struggling. I said oh I see where it's hung up and he literally snapped at me! I was so shocked at his rudeness I didn't say much except "wow". He must have realized I was upset so he halfheartedly apologized and said the last music box they had had been broken by people playing with it. This had nothing to do with my husband and I and I was very hurt and embarrassed by the way I was treated. read more

I am 80 years old, have spent my entire career working on the internet from its beginning as the ARPAnet to my final years working for the federal government. My specialty was security and EJ's Invaluable is one of the worse. They have been hacked so many times. My wife passed away in 2015 and they claim I bid on jewelry. Why would I. When I bid at had at least 6 other model railroaders with me and model railroad items were the only thing we ever bid on. But no more. My continued investigation showed that they have been hacked several times and client's info was taken. They really don't care. DON'T BID with them. read more

Won a framed print on their online auction. When I went to get it the glass was shattered. When I asked to see the manager about it he said it was my fault (!) because I didn't pick it up right away. The thing is I had just paid $10 additional "storage" fee (the print was only $45). It seems wrong to charge someone to store something then if it breaks you claim no responsibility, as if they were doing me a favor. Suddenly there were two additional men backing him up and I felt quite threatened. Needless to say. I won't ever be using them again. Frankly, if he had just offered to waive the storage fee I would have left pretty happy since I understand accidents happen. read more

Beware, EJ's uses a shipping company that will take you to the cleaners. I contacted the company prior to making the purchase, provided the exact dimensions and weight of the item. I was quoted an estimate of $63.00 for shipping. Note, I have bought several of this same item over the past year from other vendors and shipping was between $40 and $55. After winning the item PakMail, the shipping company, bills me $119.00 to ship. When I called to complain, their first response was "well that was only an estimate". I called EJ's for some guidance, left messages and they never had the courtesy to return my calls. Ultimately. PakMail reduced the size of their shipping box and brought the cost down to $93. Still, almost twice the normal rate I've paid. If this is the best EJ's can provide for their customers, it's better to seek your purchases from other venues. read more

Ejs was a fun cool place to visit yet they are milking the Covid Cow of unaccountability and upside down nonsense policy.. Located next door to floor and decor (fully open and not retail browsing issues!) also next to a home furnishing store and a large retail plaza that is fully open to serve customers, Yet Ejs policy seem to make you burn brain cells trying to understand that you are not allowed to enter the store before the auction begins on Saturday. Auction begins at 10am but you can enter the building at noon 2 hours after commencement . I am not sure what genius has crafted this stupidness.
