One of the coolest coffee shops I've been to in awhile. Coffee shop by day, a bar by night. The interior is cozy, dimly lit yet very open and modern. The barista was also soso friendly. We got the Cortado and a Dirty Matcha as our choices of caffeine and they're tasty. They were also very nice to let us bring some pastries from down the street in to have with our coffee. I've never been here. Starting with walking in the door, we were greeted and the aura is really nice. It's intimate, decorated warmly, and they have both a coffee bar and cocktail bar so you can pick your poison, which is great! They also have both a breakfast and non breakfast food menu. I asked for their best drink and they suggested a honey nut latte which is their featured latte currently. It was ok. It tasted like a latte (no honey and/or nut flavor at all). I ordered a breakfast sandwich that I thought was so yummy! And an order of fries, you can't go wrong. While nothing was overtly wrong, I didn't find anything outstanding enough to consider visiting again. read more

Location location location! I love that I can walk to this cute little cafe. Pros: The service is excellent. The coffee is delicious and the ambiance is adorable. i came upon this spot last week when i was just meandering around the neighborhood. i stopped in today to study while enjoying a beverage and food. what drew me in was the combination of tea, coffee, drinks, and a smattering of plant based and meat based dishes. i ordered the iced matcha with spicy wontons and very much enjoyed both. the ambiance of the space was cool. the space was chill, aesthetically lovely, and filled rock music. before leaving, i ordered an egg-witch to take with me to school. i let the barista talk me into adding some sausage. i ended up being disappointed with the sandwich. i was expecting the handmade sausage to be flavorful, but it was bland, not even salted. the real turn off, however, was noticing after the first bite that the sausage was still pink and under-cooked. it's 2:30 PM now, and i don't get to go home and eat until 9 PM, so i am going to have a long day ahead. i can't believe i spent $10 on a sandwich i can't eat. read more

The ambiance is free and easy, making it a great place to work, gather, or drink and chill. We met up in the late morning and there were some seats available. They have combined booths and tables for solo or small groups to sit at. The ordering process was typical of a cafe--browse the menu, order, and pick up your drink. Our drinks came out efficiently and warm which was appreciated. The menu is decent with an easy-to-read menu. They serve coffee, tea, seasonal drinks, various libations, and small baked goods. I was torn between a few drinks but ultimately chose their Lavender Fog Latte with Soy Milk. The drink was light on the lavender, warm and soothing, and beautiful with the blue! My friend called it a Smurf latte. My companion got a Drip while my friends got various lattes. Everyone enjoyed their drink and seemed like the customers inside also enjoyed theirs! As a visitor, I'm unfamiliar with the coffee shop scene in Portland but we were all happy campers at Either/Or! This is a casual neighborhood spot perfect to drop in or comfortably work at. My husband and I needed some caffeine to jump start our day and we love supporting local. This place is part bar part coffee shop and 100% Portland. I loved the ambiance of the place and all of the staff seemed super friendly. I got a soy chai to go and it was delicious. Loved the stamp they use on their to-go cups. Stopped by on whim after a weekday morning workout class and now it's one of my new favorites. I went for an oat milk lavender fog, which was delightful. I've never had a lavender drink before so I don't have anything to compare it to but I can safely say it was DELICIOUS. I also ordered a breakfast burrito, which came with a side of salsa verde. Also v delicious. Don't be confused by the pick up counter. You'll still need to head inside to place and order regardless if you're taking out or dining in. Currently, masks and proof of vaccination are still required to dine in. read more

it's hard to have a portland coffee shop that stands out these days. it's either some kind of special gimmick drink or a trendy instagrammable tourist trap. EITHER/OR keeps things simple in a way that's refreshing to me, and seems to be doing all of it well! the baristas were very friendly and easy to chat with if you wanted to take a seat at their FULL BAR! such a great spot to meet up that isn't ridiculously busy and seems to be on the relatively easy end of snagging a spot to get stuff done. i had a vanilla latte that was, respectfully, yummy delicious. the vanilla and caramel sauces were made in-house, and i believe their lavender as well but don't quote me on that. highly recommend this shop as a place to unwind hanging out in trendy portland, a fun spot for sure. I've lived around the corner for years and have loved this location highlighting community and being a space for coffee / spirits and socializing. I was skeptical of the new owners being able to keep the energy as the original queer aesthetic. The thing I'm saddest about is that they've taken away the simple foods that make a coffee shop- a coffee shop. It's easy to go for lunch there if I'm craving Asian foods, but sometimes you just want a standard bagel and cream cheese with your coffee, ya know? The only small bites they have are pastries they get whole sale and they always look so sad in that box. I'd say the food has departed from coffee pairings and has landed into the boozy side of the shop. The original workers are the one thing anchoring the core elements of the original vibe. I will continue to support them until they move on. It's hard to get mad at the menu when the place is literally called Either/Or, but its a pretty extreme dichotomy now. Overall good experiences throughout the years, worth checking out. read more

Boyfriend got the breakfast burrito and it was definitely the best burrito we/he has ever had, SO GOOD! I got the breakfast sandwich w/ the sausage patty, super yummy, the sausage Pattie's look hand pressed with onions and peppers. Coffee was delicious as well, very much recommend. Love the big coffee scene in Portland. I'm usually drinking black coffee or a shot of espresso and rarely veer much away from that. Once in a while though, I would order a latte or a London Fog. In this instance, I ordered a Lavender Fog. Little small hints of lavender, smooth taste. This coffeeshop would be a great place to just come sit inside for few hours and let the day pass by. Came here on a weekday and already had a line near the place so you know that means they have something great to try. Either/Or has coffee options to start your morning and simple food menu including items such as breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries. The overall restaurant is closed and they are working throughout a table/window. We ended up ordering the Spex (house made sausage, egg, and cheese) on a bolo bread and it took about 10 mins to received with our Chai latte and lavender fog. The house made sausage was tasty and hearty sandwich to start your morning. You can easily eat this yourself or share if you're having a drink. The only thing I would have preferred to make this even tastier is to toast the bread a bit. Chai was a solid option but the MUST TRY is definitely the lavender fog! It was our first time getting one and it's described as lavendar chai. Get it warm and the lavendar balances out the spiciness of the chai and almost goes down like milk. I would definitely come here just for this. If you're in the area or visiting one of the other establishments be sure to stop by here in the morning and show them some love! read more

They use the little ice cubes which is genius and keeps the drink at the perfect temperature. I ordered mine with Oat Milk and had them sweeten it with honey. Magnificent. The Eggs Ray Spex is no doubt a delicious (but pricey) breakfast sandwich, but the fact that they don't have a phone number and close early without telling anyone is pretty irritating when you make a drive out here to support their business. Found this gem on Yelp because the brother-in-law wanted rice for breakfast/brunch. This branch only had a few reviews but we figured it was worth a shot and totally glad that we went here! For drinks we ordered the following: Ginger spiced chai, mocha and americano. Loved the Chai so much! It was spicy and warm perfect for the weather that day. The americano was really good too while my BIL said that the mocha was great as well. For food we ordered the following: Ham and cheese sandwich, chinese sausage bowl and pork belly bowl. This is the new outpost of Sellwood's Either/Or on Williams. Food is the new addition, now with a breakfast menu until 3, and a dinner menu to come. I had the Chinese sausage bowl. Its namesake sausage is sweet with maybe a touch of cinnamon and anise, it includes a sour radish pickle, salty kim chi medium hot, steamed mini Chinese cabbage and a soft boiled egg, all over white rice. It's a fine balance of textures and tastes flavored by ingredients. It is an example of the increasingly Portland-popular "new breakfast" menu. I also had their ginger chai which they have bottled for some time. It's balanced and not over flavored or over black peppered. The space is a measured mid-century modern baroque. Their counter is unique with what looks like 60's speaker grille cloth braced with oak strips, a pattern continuing along their bar. The walls are teal against a plainer blue plush curtains. They have some upholstered high back booths. The bar chairs are pure Vegas, but harmonizing with the blues in the space. The lighting fixtures are a mix of schoolhouse and ornate to mid-century vintage. They have put some thought into their audio system, so we wonder if dancing might break out evenings. It's a fun concept well executed. We will be interested to see how they develop in the Williams corridor ecosystem. read more

Ordered via caviar and this is my first experience with the vendor. The app allows you to specify and pay extra for adding two shots to your latte and bacon to your burrito. In this case, the lazy employee didnt read the order and chose to ignore that i paid extra for these options. My latte is as white as the oatmilk it contains. The burrito has no bacon, and is in fact purely black beans with a couple of french fries. Its gross. In these days of diminishing economy, food establishments really need to step it up if they are to survive. **update, the literal final bite of the burrito contained 2 tiny pieces of bacon fat.
