Yesterday 5/28/2022 my Wife brought my youngest child in from the art festival to grab a bagel. It was my daughters birthday. She is 12 years old. My wife had one of our dogs with her, but wanted to escort our child in to make sure she was good to order, etc and to get a cup of water. We believe it was the manager who immediately got nasty and told my wife she can't have a dog in there and she needed to leave immediately, which my Wife did, as it was not her intention to vacillate in the establishment w the dog for obvious reasons. After my Wife left, my 12 year old was still inside the establishment when said manager (?) began sh!t talking my Wife loudly... loud enough that anyone (including my kid) could hear her. So just wanted to share the story and let the owner of this establishment know we won't ever patronize Einstein's in Barrington again (yes, we live in town). Great job! The bagels here are delicious and there is plenty of space here to sit down and enjoy a nice lunch. I opted for the Tasty Turkey sandwich, which came with the choice of chips or a fruit cup in addition to a pickle. Food-wise, it totally hit the spot. The meal was delicious and made quickly. My only complaint is that I wish the bagels came toasted--I love a warm bagel! I'll ask for it to be toasted the next time around. Again, I am not happy with my experience. My younger sister and I had went into the store to get bagels for breakfast, and we were not asked if we wanted our bagel toasted and we had requested peanut butter on the side for one of the bagels and we had not received it. One of the employees, who I believe might be the manager is never pleasant to any of the customers, and she has been working in this location forever. I am very surprised that nobody working in the location has addressed it because a lot of customers are taking their buy somewhere else because of this employee. There are very few options for walk-in coffee shops in the village of barrington 3 to be exact. This place, Starbucks and cook street coffee. That being said. The coffee at Starbucks is the best but the way they are handling Covid guideline is RIDICULOUS at best. Cook street coffee is sub-par but they have friendly and inviting atmosphere and staff. Now comes Einstein. There coffee is decent but from the moment you walk in you feel like you are NOT welcome. Almost like you are annoying them and putting them out while ordering their mediocre coffee and even less quality food. She has taken food out of the trash and tried to sell it back to customers. She will pour 5 day old expired milk into a carton that hasn't expired yet or just put that expired milk into your latte. She will change the date on everything and anything. She makes watered down coffee and makes the place hell for all her employees. Please start telling her to wear deodorant for the employees sake. Come here if you want a rude individual to help you and you want to be treated bad. Walked in and asked for gluten free was told curtly No No No , I was like umm ok and proceeded to order husbands food , was then checked out by a rude guy that was having a bad day. I even said wow hope you have a better day , they mumbled something and gave a look . I did tell the other young lady that person was rude and obnoxious and obviously doesn't like their job , my advice is there are plenty of jobs , get out of retail if you are that miserable and hate your job. I did contact corporate and let's see what their response is. Nestled in downtown Barrington and I'm pleased it's located so close to my house. Bummer none of the Einstein Bros are open past 4:00. I always use coupons because they send them via email so frequently. Bonus! They even send a coupon for a free breakfast sandwich on your birthday (with the purchase of a drink). One of the first few times I went here, a female employee (not sure if she was the manager) felt bad that I wanted a pizza bagel that they no longer advertise, so she gave me a card for a free sandwich. Not sure why they took that delicious pizza bagel off the menu, but it's basically the cheese pizza bagel, but with garlic herb shmear instead of pizza sauce and they always substitute gladly if you simply ask. There is one girl who works behind the counter who never has a smile on her face and seems to have a bit of an attitude, but every other employee has been very friendly and helpful. Parking is scarce in the area, but there is a little lot across the street. Since this is more of a breakfast place, you can manage to get a spot in front of the store early in the morning, no problem. The sandwiches are pretty good, but never look like the photos. I guess that's anywhere you go. Also, I would definitely recommend signing up for email coupons because I'm not sure I would pay full price for anything there, except the bagels with shmear. I usually get the lox & cream cheese or pizza bagel. The thin bagel mushroom, swiss & asparagus sandwich is ok. I love the dutch apple bagel with strawberry or mango shmear or the spinach florentine bagel with garlic herb shmear. So good! Of course, the shmears (cream cheese flavors) are really good and what they are known for. I recommend trying a gourmet bagel with a flavorful shmear if you've never been to Einstein Bros. read more

My daughter ordered a turkey melt with tomato. She received a turkey with lettuce bagel instead. She returned it and received the turkey melt without tomato. What really made it interesting is that the male employee with pony tail, had no idea how to prepare the sandwich and another employee had to help after about 10 minutes of the clueless one looking around for instructions. I ordered a lox sandwich on pumpernickel bagel and received a pumpernickel bagel with schmear only. I told the same clueless employee that delivered the sandwich to our table, that I ordered the lox sandwich. He smiled as if he knew he messed up and he came back with a sandwich poorly prepared with scant lox. There was no apology for the errors nor any acknowledgement from the manager, who was approached by my daughter to assist with this comedy of errors. This Barrington location used to be top notch years ago and has gone so far downhill we will not be back. Too many other choices in town like Starbucks and Jimmy Johns that treat the customer correctly. This place hires inept teenagers with no oversight from management. Disgraceful. read more

Look, it should not take 25 minutes to get a simple sesame bagel with cream cheese and lox. And when you wait for said bagel it should not arrive with barely any cream cheese or lox. And when you politely ask for more lox and cream cheese on your obviously skinny bagel, you should not be challenged that it's your problem by the staff. When I went here it looked like a father / son team was working the weekend shift. The son (slowly) made me an incredibly skinny bagel and when I politely asked for more when I opened it, the older guy acted like I was showing attitude or something. I wasn't, but I sure should've. I mean when you wait 25 minutes for a simple bagel with only 5 people in front of you and then the bagel barely deserves the name bagel, I deserve to be upset. Finally a decent Einstein Brothers Bagels. A few Einstein Brothers Bagels have given me terrible food the last few times & really skimped on the portions. I came in here & was surprised that the inside was pretty nice. The last few I have visited were filthy & a complete mess but this one was clean & well kept. I ordered a Nova Lox sandwich, a jalapeno cheddar bagel & an everything bagel. The staff was very friendly while taking my order & were chatty which is always a plus. The service was also very fast. While I was waiting for my food I sat down at a table & within four minutes my food was ready. By the time I got home my food was still nice & warm. On my bagel I ordered jalapeno cream cheese & it was actually spicy & had a kick to it. My family enjoyed their Nova Lox sandwich & their bagels as well. Overall the location is very convenient & easy to park. Inside of the restaurant the tables were clean & the service was fast. Most importantly the food here was better than most of the Einstein Brothers Bagels I have been to. I would definitely come here again. read more

We went in after we filled out the receipt survey to receive the 3 bagels. It did not say ANYWHERE that it HAD to only be plain bagels. Not even in the receipt or the survey. The worker there, Susan, she did not even mention anything to us. She did say, oh I have to charge you for the cream cheese though. Which made sense. But after we got the three bagels, she asked us what we wanted for the three bagels. Well we told her we already chose it. And she said, it can only be plain. She didn't show a good attitude afterwards. How bizarre is that? She couldn't have mentioned it to us in the beginning? We left paying for all three of them. Which we didn't mind, we just wished there was clarification. I just think that in a professional manner, she could've either let us just pay for the cream cheese. I hate having to deal with all the mistakes they make with my order. It's especially frustrating when it's all written out in front of them on the screen. On the positive side, the employees are very friendly and the food is mostly OK. I guess that's what's supposed to pass for good these days... so I suppose they're good enough.
