This Mexican place rocks! The flavor of their meats are incredible. I had pork and steak and they are both yummy. They have homemade salsa, green and red. I prefer the green more mild. I didn't try the hot sauce. Most meals are just the burritos or tacos. You have to order the rice and beans separate. I like this because I would rather eat several of those yummy tacos. They started out as a food truck. This was our first time to have this and we are hooked. We were told they will have a second location in Webb city mo. They have a drive thru. They have a food challenge. 6 pound burrito in 10 min. So far no one had been able to finish it. Their menu is small but I feel you should keep it small and focus on quality and that's what they are doing. They were really busy but we had excellent service. People will complain about their small menu, but you can go else where. You won't find meat this delicious! Love small family owned businesses!! Great job! read more

Went to the Food Truck Friday in Carthage MO & had the street tacos platter so I could try all three of chicken, pork, & steak. We are very fortunate in the Joplin/SW Missouri area to have several great ones here. Also, I travel the US heavily every week, and especially have spent great amounts of time in the South middle and Southwest, and have eaten lots of street tacos from restaurants & food trucks. Let me tell you, after moving from authentic and diverse city to a white, less diverse city , many restaurants here lose their authenticity to bring in the "American crowd" I've been looking for a spot that reminds me of home, and I found it! Good Mexican fast food! I had the original burrito. It comes with yoir choice of meat, beans, rice, sour cream and guacamole. I thought $12 was a little pricey but that thing is huge!!! It was a little skimpy on meat and heavy on rice but the flover was good. Had a horchata to drink that seemed kind of watered down. Overall it was pretty good and I will make this a regular lunch stop. read more

This former taco truck opened up a stand-alone restaurant at 7th and Porter. I ordered the 3 Taco Special, which featured a beef, pork, and chicken taco (street-taco-style) - OMG, they were so good! They're dressed with cilantro and onions and served with their own red and green salsas. The meat was seasoned wonderfully and the salsas were both good (the Red has a pronounced kick to it). The rice is typical Mexican rice, so some may find it bland. I found it to be perfect for my tastes though. Note that rice or beans is a separate add-on not included in the price of the tacos. The guys at the next table had the burritos, and I will definitely try one of those next. The taco special with rice and drink (and tax) was around $12 - a little high, but the taste definitely made up for it. El taco Loco is a nice clean little restaurant, but it definitely needs more menu choices and they could do a lot better with the seasonings on their food. Overall it's not a bad little place. I would just prefer to eat at another restaurant, especially for the prices you pay. They also have no kids menu and no dessert items. You could save a dime by going to Taco Bell! Highly unimpressed however the person who took our order was very pleasant maybe El taco loco will be one of those places that get better with time. read more

This is one of the worst Mexican restaurants in Joplin. The cooks apparently cannot read, to busy fighting or don't care about what you order. You ask for cheese nachos with extra cheese you get chips, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and a about 20 pieces of shredded cheese. I took my food to the counter and the lady who work at the register tried to fix it but I did not ask for extra beans. I wanted regular amount of beans. We also ordered queso and chips. The chips were stale. The person I was with ordered a chicken quesadilla there was barely any cheese and it was not melted together like a quesadilla suppose to be. I had heard a lot of good things about this restaurant but there are MUCH BETTER Mexican restaurants to spend almost $30.00 on. WE THROW OUR FOOD AWAY. These are some of the best tacos I've ever had in my life! The spicy pork was phenomenal, had such a great flavor and wasn't spicy.

I ordered food from them today via drive thru for the first time today and I enjoyed it a lot. I ordered a supreme burrito and the young lady who took my order was so kind and made the experience a lot more pleasant. The wait took a few minutes but it was well worth it. I will definitely recommend it to anyone and plan on bringing my grandchildren here in the near future! read more

I use Yelp a lot and was really anxious to try this place. Sorely disappointed. I ordered the three taco plate. I can't complain about the service but the tacos were supposed to be 1 each of chicken, beef and pork. They were so "sauced down" that there was no way i could pick them up. It was a small corn taco shell and just soggy. But the most disgusting thing was the meat pellets they used. Just like what dominnoes uses on there pizzas...ughhhhh. they all "tasted" the same...and very little taste at that, but i did like the sauces...just see no reason to go back for more mystery-meat pellets read more

The guy behind the counter was great! He was super helpful in answering questions about the menu. We got three tacos (one of each meat) with chips and guacamole. The meats were ok, nothing that would blow your mind. With a smaller menu I get excited and expect to have amazing quality. (Better to do a few things well, than a lot of things mediocre). This was mediocre. The guacamole was ok, lots of onions and not a ton of avocado. Not my cup of tea but maybe someone's. Also, the chips were from a bag, not fried fresh.
