If your looking for authentic Mexican food then look no further. This place has the best of the best. Girlfriend had 4 shrink tacos rice and beans which were amazingly delicious. The ingredients were perfect and seasoning was out of this world. I had the Super Cena which was a variety of different items. The Chlli Relleno was awesome with this really tasty sauce. The Tamale had a similar sauce with seasoned beef that was the best ever. Then came the enchilada that was beyond super delicious. The Chalupa was to die for and they toss in a hard shell beef taco rounding out an awesome meal. Our host Yuri is the best of the best. Your in good hand as soon as you arrive because she will make sure everything is perfect. So treat yourselves to a great meal and get over there .a.s.a.p. You'll be glad you did. read more

Moved to the area a few months ago and Festival has become our favorite restaurant! The salsa is amazing and my chili relleno was the best I ever had and I've been eating them for years! The tacos are delicious as are the beans and rice. Service is great and the food was delivered quickly! So happy to have found this amazing restaurant! read more

Stopped here while traveling because of the amazing reviews and we were not disappointed. My favorite was the chori-pollo dinner. So delicious and I never would have put the 2 together before. The salsa is good and the cheese dip was perfect. Our wait team was wonderful! Definitely recommend! read more

Festival - Cheese dip and chips! Good salsa too! - Mexican Near Me - Joplin, Missouri

Staff were friendly & accommodating but I do not recommend this place. I got food poisoning

The owners and staff and very friendly, the food is made to order and they never disappoint! Everything I ever tried is delicious. I find myself often ordering the Mucho Durango. Grilled chicken and shrimp laid over a bed of Spanish rice and covered with queso! The burrito Jalisco is huge and never disappoints. I also like their Fajita Nachos! Love their pico de gallo and guacamole with warm tortilla chips! read more

Five star because the food is great as far as Mexican goes. They get the food out quickly, too. We come here mainly for their awesome drink specials though! read more

Out of all the local Mexican restaurants, Festival is my favorite. We've never had a bad meal here. They have terrific guacamole, which is a must-do while waiting for your meal. I have tried a couple of things in the menu, but i always go back to the #9, which is a spinach enchilada and tamale. Sooo good! The spinach is sautéed nicely, a beautiful bright green. And the masa on the tamale has a wonderful flavor. We usually have great service, and in and out within a half hour or so. However, last weekend something was off and we didn't get waited on for awhile, then sat with an empty bowl of gauc for 15 minutes before we finally said we couldn't wait any longer for our meal as we had a movie to catch. This doesn't normally happen, so I know we will be back and fully expect everything to be just fine. read more

Love Festival enough to drive from NWA to Joplin for a meal! Food is always great and the owners and servers are wonderful! I used to go a few times a month when I worked in Joplin thanks to my boss who also loved it, and they really make their patrons feel like family. Off the menu, the Chiles toreados are some of the best I've ever had, though some days the spice was enough to make my eyes water! Lots of great, authentic menu items, but my personal favorite was typically the beef tacos. Atmosphere is laid back, good music, great place for families, work lunch, casual dinner - love that you almost always see the owners and their family. Joplin is lucky to have Festival! read more

This place seems like a hole in the wall. Very good food and just off the beaten path. This was a nice change from the plethora of chain restaurants that are on the main drag. Katie got the Festival Chimichanga and I got the Festival Enchiladas. Both dishes were served with chicken and very filling. I'm stuffed. I definitely recommend this place. read more

I had the Nacho Fajitas and a Chile Relleno. It's nice to know there is good Mexican food in Missouri. I ordered from a different Mexican restaurant recently, and their food was bland and they actually used CREAM CHEESE in their chile relleno-ack! The Chile relleno here was flavorful, slightly spicy and the perfect consistency in the batter-not a dry cornmeal and not an omelette. The poblano pepper has a little spice and a nice thick filling of what I believe was Jack and maybe Colby cheese. I chose steak for my fajita nachos and it was nice and tender. Lots of onions, peppers and tomatoes, the first two of which were nicely sauteed so they still had a little bit of bite to them, not cooked to mush. A good amount of a white cheese sauce. I also got a side of pico de gallo, which was nicely spicy. There was a bag of chips and some sauce included. The chips were plentiful and crispy, but next time I will request a spicy salsa, as they send a very bland one as the norm. Will definitely order from here again. read more

Food is always fresh. Service is always friendly. Sauce not too spicy, but, still a bit of zing.

This is the perfect example of the American dream at work. The family that owns this turned a hole in the wall location into a highly sought after lunch venue on the East side of town, and eventually expanded into the entire building by buying out its neighbors (a liquor/smoke shop). Long gone is the tacky, used cafeteria furniture which has been replaced with beautiful interior design and authentic Mexican decor. The prices have stayed very reasonable, and the portions just as large as when it was a start up. Feel free to take your kids. The owners' daughter is very friendly and often acts the hostess, seating guests and just looking cute in general. I'm really proud of what they've done with the place, and wish them all the success in the world! Festival!!! read more

I love Mexican food. Funny tnough, when I come to visit Joplin I always crave it in more ways than you can count. After a little searching we came across Festival. Lets try it! The outside of this place looks like a classic dive bar and honestly...there isn't much to speak of on the inside either. However, the place was packed for lunch and I was ready for some salsa. Our food was cheesy, hot, and just what I wanted. The chips and salsa were a plenty and they tasted great. Super inexpensive too. The margaritas took me by surprise a little. I thought they were no big deal until the pitcher was done and so was I. read more

This place is a monument to chili powder. The chips and salsa came and the salsa tasted like chili powder mixed with water. I got a combo plate, the chili rellano wasn't bad but then I got hold of the enchilada. All I could taste was chili powder. I got the cheese sauce on top (.99) and am glad I did. If I had gotten the red sauce it would have been inedible. The beer was good and cold! read more

Good food, neat atmosphere, and great service! Love all the options and wonderful drinks!

Our family goes to Festival a lot. Always good fast service. The food is consistently really good. Also the wait time is so good, I know I can go there for a quick, high quality meal anytime. The salsa is great but a little pricey if you get it to go. When you eat in, the food is at a great price. I highly recommend this place. read more

I was in the mood for a margarita...mine was on the rocks and super strong. My husband's margarita was blended and had no alcohol. Not a fan of that inconsistency. The food was very good. I had a chicken breast covered with cheese. It was cooked perfect and had great flavor. We will be back! read more

Walked in with a party of 14. Seated in 3 mins, drinks ordered and served flawless. Mixed drinks were good and strong. Beers were a good value for size. FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING! And the prices blew me away! There were 3 families, but our family of 4 was $36.26! Wife said "some of the best mexican I've ever had". Nough said, just go try it. read more

Festival - two burritos on a plate with sauce - Mexican Near Me - Joplin, Missouri

Loved the taco tuesday. The chips are light and delicious. The relleno pepper was amazing. Good service.

Quaint, small place. Friendly and attentive service. Upon arrival we got a huge basket of very thin (yum) warm chips that melt in your mouth. The salsa was a little watery, but the chips were awesome. We had the lunch beef taquitos with rice and beans - all very good. We will stop by again when in town. read more

My favorite Mexican place in Joplin! Now the decor and restroom is a zero but man they can hustle out some awesome food and the wait staff is kind and sweet. If you want something not on the menu they will try to cook it for you. Their chips are awesome and they keep the basket full! Two of us can go for lunch and be done in 30 minutes bonus the bill is under $20. Queso, 2 meals and 2 drinks! read more

I had heard great things about this place, however, was very disappointed in the quality of the food. Decently expensive for Mexican food even though the quantities given are adequate. I felt the food was rather bland and cheap. The salsa has more of an enchilada sauce consistency and I was not a fan. On a positive note, the staff was very nice and welcoming and our food was delivered quickly! Overall, I felt it was a filler that was not worth the price. read more

This is one of the best Mexican eateries in Joplin (between here and Lalos. Let the debate begin). Nice beer selection on tap, good lunch and dinner specials, and great staff. Personal favorite: Tacos de Asada. Best $7 you'll spend. read more

We come to Downstream a couple times a year and always looking for good Mexican food. Festival was the best we have tried in Joplin so far. $5.99 for a shot of any tequila they have. The chili Verde was amazing! read more

Probably the best place in Joplin for Mexican food. The food is always hot and tasty, and the staff is polite and attentive. The lunch specials are pretty great and if you like a lot of food for what you pay, you won't leave hungry. I haven't been able to get through half a plate yet because you get so much. read more

It was alright. Hard to find a tasty health meal. They have a LOT of "white cheese sauce" on most their items. If you are looking for fresh, healthy ingredients this is not the place to eat. read more

PURE SLOP!! Made us both sick!! Don't waste your time and money!! I'm putting one star because Yelp wouldn't let me leave negative stars!! read more

As far as cheap Mexican goes, it doesn't get any better. Anything you get here is good and it won't break the bank. Their enchiladas, rice, cheese dip and salsa are better than other comparable places in the area. The service is fast and friendly. I've never had a bad experience here. read more

Best Carnitas! Wow! Who woulda thunk? Excellent food. Best local Mexican food for sure! Try it, you won't regret it!

Just ok. Nothing to brag about! Restaurant was clean, service was ok. Again, nothing worth anymore than two stars.

This place gives you tons of food! Quick service as well! Lunch specials are good and really well priced. Queso is delicious, although it is a bit pricey, and tortillas are extra. Overall great little stop though! read more

This just blows my mind. Makes me question what kinda food everyone fixes at home. How do you fix your taco meat? Christ! Taco meat should taste like something other than rice! Everything is ungodly bland! The fajitas are terrible and tasteless. Onions and green peppers and smothered in something that looks like spices and still....nothing. No flavor. Every single dish tastes like the one before it. The salsa tastes like oatmeal with cilantro. My God. And the white cheese on everything is cheap. Also tasteless. A way to cover bad food. It's also completely tasteless sawdust. Lettuce out of a Wal-Mart bag, chips out of a Tostitos bag and oatmeal flavored everything. And if they cater it in a place, you get this slop in mass quantity sitting in a trash can or 5 gallon bucket. Yeah, come on in. It'll fill you up just like mom's old-time gruel. read more

This place is the real deal! Delicious Mexican food in a clean environment. The employees are very friendly and efficient in their customer service! The food was so tasty and the guacomole is a must-have! My husband & I highly recommend Festival Mexican restaurant in Joplin MO. read more

Their chips and salsa are the best around. I can't go a month without their shredded chicken nachos. Always great service.

I have heard nothing but rave reviews of Festival over the past several years, but I was less than impressed. My husband and I went in for an earlier dinner one Friday evening when they were not yet busy and our food was just okay. He really wished he'd gone to a couple of other local Mexican restaurants, and wasn't a fan of the shrimp in his shrimp chimichanga. I enjoyed my enchiladas very much, and the chicken one had a ton of chicken inside that was really nice & moist. But the beef quesadilla that came with my combination dinner was not something I would repeat. The beef was extremely tender chunks, like pot roast, and not fatty or tough, so that was nice but it wasn't seasoned or flavored at all. The cheese in the quesadilla was very unfamiliar to me and reminded me of a thick sticky paste. So much so, I left it on the plate and chalked it up to Cheese Mystery. For the record, I eat in dozens of Mexican restaurants every year across the entire Southwest so it's not a case of me just thinking every restaurant serves Kraft cheddar jack. It was odd sticky gummy cheese and unpleasant. The service was very friendly and quick. There were a LOT of servers standing around chatting (probably waiting for the dinner rush?) and the music was extraordinarily loud. I would return, but it's definitely not yet among my top five spots for Mexican in the area. read more
