There are two kinds of breakfast restaurants, in my mind, that makes sense. There are the inexpensive "two-eggs-potatoes-and-sausage" restaurants which serves you an OK home-like meal for pocket change. And there are the luxurious "give-me-more-food-than-I-can-eat", you know the ones with the benedicts, the casseroles and other creative meals.
Unfortunately, Eggsquis falls in the middle. A relatively unimpressive experience, but at the price of the luxurious places.
$16 including taxes for a small casserole of potatoes, some meat, hollandaise sauce and a tiny (tiny!) fried egg. The cost difference between small and extra large eggs is negligible, why serve small eggs?
I found that they were pretty cheap on the fruits serving as well. A half slice of orange, a quarter slice of pineapple and a small piece of cantaloup? We're far from the nice fruits plates included with breakfasts at other chains like Allô mon coco or L'Oeufrier.
On top of this, they charged me an extra of $0.75 for the pain de ménage I had opted for. I have no problems with extras when they are mentioned. But I do have an issue when they casually offer you different choices of breads without mentioning some are included and some are extra.
Overall, it's an ok breakfast restaurant, but you can get a better value for your money at other chains or independent restaurants. read more
