I wasn't able to finish the breakfast I ordered. When I arrived, I was not greeted; I had to say "good morning" first. The staff member handling my order seemed annoyed and had an attitude throughout the interaction. Even when I said "thank you" at the end, there was no acknowledgment until after. Because of this, I would not recommend this place for future visits or purchases, and I won't be returning. Two visits here with family members, and in both instances we've come away pleased. The restaurant seems busy on weekends (that's when we've went) and yet it takes little time for us to be seated. Service has been prompt and welcoming in both instances. In our visits we've sampled one of the omelets, the Big Tex Benedict, pancakes, the creme brulee French toast, grits, and a handful of other things. And we've all been happy with the quality of the food. My bunch is finicky and frugal, so satisfying us is a good sign that Eggs Up has a future in Johnson City. I'll go with 4 stars but could just as easily say 4.5. read more

If you live in or are just visiting the area, you definitely want to stop in for breakfast or brunch. The service is great, the food is tasty, and they have a family friendly environment. We were quickly seated even though they had a huge crowd. The waitress came quickly to take our beverage order. We had the cranberry mimosa carafe. It was a reasonable price at only $20! We also had water...balance right, lol! For food, I have the classic breakfast. It came with a delicious, fluffy, crispy edge pancake, eggs with cheese, Turkey bacon, their house made potatoes, and grits. Everything was cooked to perfection and was very filling. Passing through Tennessee and popped in to have breakfast and WOW! The food was amazing. I don't like breakfast food so I ordered the cheesesteak melt and it was delicious, nice and cheesy! Kenzie was our server and she was a delight! She was sweet and on time with everything. I love how open the restaurant is and the egg pictures on the walls are adorable. I used to work at a diner in south Florida and I always thought it was good but this place shits on the place I used to work. This trip didn't start out great but it ended well. The hostess sat me down at 9:09. At least 2 waitresses walked by without saying a word so I closed the menu to signal that I knew what I wanted. Still nothing. At 0914 I pushed the closed menu to the edge of the table to hint I'm ready to order. There were 5 empty tables so it definitely wasn't packed and there were at least four waitresses behind the bar. I'm not sure what the issue was. 11 minutes later, at 0920 I asked the hostess if anyone was working the area I was in. She went to the kitchen and asked someone where Amanda is. She couldn't find her so a waitress named Allison came over. She was super apologetic and said she would take my order until the waitress who works the area returned. The hostess Sue brought me waters until Amanda could be found. Despite the rocky start, the food was good. The pancakes were delicious-slightly crispy on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside. Wish the syrup was served warm but it's okay because the pancakes were still really good. I will pass on the country ham in the future. It was good but it was a small piece for an extra $2.75. They have an extensive menu-grits, oatmeal, omelets, bacon, sausage, ham, biscuits, gravy, eggs, donuts, pancakes, yogurt, waffles and more. This morning I had the biscuit and gravy with scrambled eggs, 2 slices of bacon, and red potatoes. The biscuit wasn't the best quality, it was thin but was soft. The sausage gravy was creamy and loaded with yummy sausage, wish they were a little more have handed with it so I could have dunked my potatoes in it but they put just enough to cover to biscuit slices. The eggs were nice and fluffy and cooked perfectly. The bacon was just ok. Thin bacon cooked medium. The potatoes seemed like a red potato that is precooked and slightly warmed up. They had too much black pepper seasoning for my taste but still not bad. The only real downside was that they were just slightly warmed up, as if they forgot to add them at first. All in all not a bad meal. I will be back at some point if it's convenient. The staff seemed friendly and the restaurant looked clean and inviting. My husband had the pancakes and he liked them which he is super picky about his pancakes. My daughter had a half waffle, scrambled eggs, and 2 sausage links which she liked, I was just stoked that for a very small amount of food was close to $9.50. Yikes for a small portion. read more

Located in front of the Johnson City mall in a stand alone building, there is a good amount of parking. The inside is bright and clean. We were seated quickly and our drink order taken. Since I love a traditional breakfast I quickly settled on the eggs and sausage biscuit with gravy. The food took maybe 15 minutes to come out. The eggs were cooked to my liking. The biscuit was a little dry but nothing to be too concerned about. The sausage patty was nothing special. The gravy was a major disappointment. All was delicious and serving size was plenty. Waitress was very nice and attentive. Only recommendations are for them to have more to occupy young children; but wait time was not bad at all. and when you scan the barcode upon entering the restaurant, it only brings up the catering menu.
