Nestled in the lobby of what looks to be a commercial building, tucked away in an unassuming location you will find Eggs Cafe (the door said Eggs, Inc, so your mileage may vary when you stop by). Inside, we found a nice breakfast spot with very prompt service. The wife and I both had a traditional egg breakfast. The eggs were prepared correctly, and the meats appropriately tasty. I opted to not go for bread or browns and instead substituted a biscuit, (for which there was an unstated up charge). I found the up charge strange, but the tastebuds want what they want. Great spot! Staff was very friendly and patient when we were taking a while to look at the menu. There are very very very many options so it takes a little bit to figure out what you want. I went with the Hercules omelette and it was PHENOMENAL!! Who would've thought to put tzatziki on an omelette? Amazing! I live in the area and will definitely be going back. This area is difficult with parking though, you will have to pay for street parking or find a spot on spot hero or another parking app unfortunately! Came here for a business breakfast meeting as it's location was right next to where I was staying. It threw me off a bit as it is inside a building. I ended up going in the front of the building but it was located more on the side that faced the W Hotel. The positive was that it was quiet on a Monday morning so it allowed us to talk and hear one another. In fact no one else was in this place. I assume it is more for the weekends that people go or that they were all in their downtown offices already. The service was good but how could it not as we were the only ones their. My eggs were served in a skillet and the serving size was ginormous due to the large portion of shredded hash browns. Also I was so happy they had rye bread for my toast which is my favorite. I didn't find other the the skillet anything out of the ordinary or special thus the three star rating. It was good just not mind blowing. read more

This was hands down the worst breakfast food I have ever had. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with no Canadian bacon and hash browns well done. The eggs were saturated in Hollandaise sauce, which had a horrible taste- there was too much acid flavor. The hash browns were barely cooked and were not crispy like I asked for. The "fresh squeezed" orange juice was not the best and tasted like it was a few days old. My friend ordered the same thing, with the Canadian bacon, and had the same feelings about the sauce. This is one of the best diner spots in a five mile radius as far as I'm concerned! There's so many diner-style eateries serving an extensive breakfast/lunch menu in downtown Chicago that are all pretty decent but this particular location stood out and we absolutely loved our experience here. You'll leave feeling happy. It attracts mostly locals since it's a little harder to get to, so you don't have to wait for your hair to turn white to get seated at a table for weekend brunch, in fact there's no wait at all. I would travel the extra half mile to get here and avoid long lines at other places. The interior is clean, bright and spacious. Food is excellent- the pancakes are some of the fluffiest (if not the fluffiest) pancakes I've had in Chicago, coffee tastes strong with free refills and comes in a large cup (I personally dislike my coffee being served in tiny cups), and ingredients taste fresh. Grateful for them to be operating during COVID, however the delivery, presentation and overall quality of the food was unfortunately not the best. The food was cold (not even room temperature), and completely disheveled when it arrived. These pictures were taken as soon as I open the containers because I was truly in shock by what was received. The pancakes were okay but tasted over cooked as if they were burned the "deconstructed" (as I call it) mascarpone topping was seeping from the lid. I'd suggest maybe packaging toppings separately to avoid the mess. Overwhelmed with the dissatisfaction of the pancakes I moved onto the Skirt Steak and Eggs which lacked any and all flavor; so much that I tried to use the salt and pepper packets which didn't do much justice. Eggs Inc. still showed up as take out, or delivery on Yelp as of 4/1/2021. They are open indoors until 2PM, and they are a find in my neighborhood (Streeterville). Marianna was my server. She guided me through their extensive breakfast menu yesterday morning to the omelette with gyro meat. They had ALL of the usual breakfast options and just as many lunch alternatives, but her recommendation was excellent. I'm eager to go back. This may be one of the most pleasant dining experiences I've had here. As Marianna said when I told her I was surprised to find them 1/2 block away from my home, "You've found the right place!" After flying back to Chicago on an early Sunday morning, the hunger pangs hit me by the time I walked into my condo. So I searched on Yelp and saw that I had previously bookmarked Eggs Inc - given the early morning, I called in a carry out order for the Irishman Skillet. The skillet was solid - the Irishman includes housemade corned beef, onions, hash browns, and cheddar cheese. As a side, I had English muffins with jam. The corned beef was plentiful and embodies what corned beef should taste like - salty, tender but solid, and infused with a nice kick. As an aside, they did a great job packaging up the meal for carry out. Plenty of condiments, butter, utensils, napkins, and a nicely packaged meal that was still hot by the time I reached my condo (and it was 30 degrees outside). Next time I'll make sure to venture from just the savory items and try a sweet item - and perhaps I'll dine in as it is an open and cozy interior. read more

Stumbled on this place as I was headed out of the building to look for breakfast. Saw that they had an omelette special and thought I'd give it a try. The food looked fine until i found that the omelette was drenched in cheese which made it no longer edible for me. I asked for fruit on the side instead of hash browns and all the watermelon bits were soggy and also inedible. Overall, unsatisfying visit, where I left hungry. Update: Portion sizes have dropped off a little over the last few months. Sadly, my favorite $6 half order of Biscuits and Gravy has been replaced by a monochromatic, salty gray sauce over flat, canned biscuits - gone are the nice hunks of sausage floating in cream gravy. And the Bacon Waffle (yes, it's $10) was merely topped with bacon during our last visit - only a few crumbs of smoky bacon were actually cooked inside the waffle, as we've had before. Original Review: We're thrilled to have another breakfast and lunch option in downtown Streeterville, and we've anxiously awaited the opening of Eggs, Inc. just around the corner from our apartment on North Lake Shore Drive. The menu is massive, with all sorts of quirky themed offerings like the "Book'em Dano" omelette ($9.99), the "Under the Tuscan Sun" scrambler ($11.49) and the "Yo, Adrian!" skillet ($10.99). All our servings were ample, with multiple options including hash browns, various toasted breads, pancakes (yum!!) and/or a fruit bowl. Sadly, the Egg's Inc. signature "baked pancakes" are not (yet?) available at the Streeterville site, so I went with my second choice on the menu, the Fried Chicken and Sausage Gravy, served with over-easy eggs, hash browns and one of the fluffiest pancakes I've ever sampled. The chicken cutlet was perfectly fried, with a light, crispy crust, then lovingly smothered in a rich, creamy gravy peppered with sausage bits. Make sure you order the hash browns "extra crispy". The corn syrup-based syrup was a bit of a sugary disappointment - a true maple syrup sampling would push their pancakes into the "epic" range. The wife's Crabby Benny ($12.99) featured two perfectly poached eggs balanced on top of a pair of crab cakes, then lightly covered with Hollandaise sauce. Unfortunately, the crab cakes were more "cake" than crab, and the pre-packaged butter sauce was far too lemony for even the delicate crab-flavored bread balls. The entire plate was saved by one of the nicest slices of juicy watermelon we've ever sampled in Chicago, so opt for the fruit dish over hash browns, if you prefer a lighter fare. Our waitress, Julie, was super attentive, but didn't hover - we never had to ask for refills on coffee or water, and her knowledge of the menu was excellent. Perhaps one of the worst breakfasts we have had in the city. Came here because it was the shortest walk from the W Hotel. Strongly recommend making the extra block or two walk to Yolk or Egg Harbor. Omg Eggs... So good. This might be the place my wife and I visit most often. We've probably hit up this place 10 times in our 5 months here. We were craving some country fried chicken and this place was one of the few places serving. Yolk and Wildberry are always crackin, but this place is the low key gem you've been missing out on. The service is great. The waiting staff is super attentive and the place is clean and my water is always filled. Their coffee is good and they're always happy to top it off to get the money's worth on that $2 bottomless coffee. Let me tell you about the country fried chicken and eggs. It is amazing. Not just because country fried chicken is always amazing, but this is really amazing. You can get it with pancakes, toast, or whatever really. They're flexible with upcharges if you're trying to go crazy. I opt for the toast to give me some kind of base for something so flavorful and delicious. The country fried chicken is smothered in gravy that spills out so beautifully to the crispy hashbrowns and over easy eggs. I'm salivating writing about this and might have to go there this AM. Omg what a treat. It's so crispy, soft, and full of flavor it's quite special. My wife is silly and likes to explore the menu, but she regrets and has serious plate envy. Lucky for her, I love her so I give her some of mine. But let me tell you it's not easy to part with my precious 16 slices of my country fried chicken. Had a delicious lunch at Eggs Cafe! The decor of the place will remind you of the restaurant from the TV show 'Seinfeld'. Very chilled atmosphere, followed by excellent service and a very affordable menu. I had a made to order' panini. Intrigued? I don't eat chicken but wanted their their panini, which had honey mustard, Swiss cheese and red pepper. Had to pay extra but it was worth it in order to get the panini with tuna, rather than chicken. It was a tuna melt with a tantalizing twist ( see photo below). We were staying really close to this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. We were the only patrons in the restaurant, which is normally a red flag for me, but we gave it a try anyway. Before you read on, I do believe that we got food poisoning from this restaurant. It was the only thing we ate all day and had severe stomach issues a few hours afterwards. It wasn't until this morning that I saw they scored a 59 on their last health inspection. Service was good, but food wasn't the best. The hash browns were good, but my toast was burnt and my omelette had so much cheese that it was greasy and inedible. It was filled with some sort of processed cheese. I rarely write bad reviews, but I would stay away. After being up all night, they deserve the 1-star review. read more

Casual, quick, something for everyone breakfast. We came in around 11 on a weekday and there were diners looking for both breakfast and lunch. Appears to be a good place for all ages as there were quite a few kids there, along with all the adults. We were seated right away and started to look at the expansive menu. It may take you a while to figure out what you want, and the servings should satisfy almost every appetite. My wife got the asparagus and Swiss omelet with fruit. The asparagus was fresh and flavorful and the fruit was good - especially for December in the Midwest. I got the Under the Tuscan sun frittata. It's a skillet of hash browns topped with eggs, chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, basil, pepper jack cheese, and deliciousness. It was wonderful, and far more than I could eat in one sitting. I took the rest home and was barely able to eat that half in one sitting. It was very fresh, hot, and delicious. The food came out very quickly and the waitress was attentive and pleasant. The location isn't hard to find on foot, but might be tougher driving, as the entrance is not on Lake Shore, but on Erie. read more

If you're in the Streeterville area during the weekend and want a relatively inexpensive (for downtown Chicago) option for brunch that doesn't include a ridiculously long wait (i.e. Wildberry), this place is great. It's in an office building, and the nondescript decor of the place matches. It had a sterile feel, but the service was warm and fast. The menu is long, so there's something for everyone. I'm a huge sucker for anything chicken fried, so I was very content with the country fried chicken and eggs. The batter was light and very crispy, which is a bit different than traditional country fried batter. Nevertheless, it was still tasty. My boyfriend got the Nutella crepes, which was just chock full of strawberries, bananas, walnut, and that addicting hazelnut spread. This would have been very good for dessert to share; it was a too decadent for breakfast. The portions here are huge, and we barely made it halfway through our dishes. Great Location! Great Prices! Thus far, I have Delightfully consumed the Chicken Skillet, Country Benedict, Steak Philly Omelette, Corned Beef Hash & Eggs, and the Healthy Start -(a grilled chicken breast for breakfast is surprisingly excellent when it is complemented by egg whites, Mozzarella cheese, and buck wheat pancakes). AND Their new cold press smoothies are a must try! There are no less than four, 4.5 star breakfast restaurants within a two block walk from my condo.
