This store is simply amazing! Its like taking a step back in time where people are friendly and the general store had all you need. Whether you are looking for kids toys, kitchen gadgets or a good glass of wine, this place has it. The ambiance is amazing and the sheer number of interesting items they have is wonderful. I used to love it here. Great place to get gifts you wouldn't normally find anywhere else. Their fudge is also great. However, their customer service is absolutely abhorrent. We felt as we we're racially profiled today. We were followed around the store. They told us it was because things had been stolen today and it had been a rough day for them. What made them assume we were there to do what others had done throughout the day. It was absolutely disgusting as we noticed they didn't follow any other race the same way they did us. Interesting jumble of items to look at but if you have teenagers or younger kids..stay away. The owners and staff seem to not like you if you are younger than 21. We've been 3 times and all 3 times the staff " stalked" our kids. If they were trouble..I could understand but as hard as it is to believe..they are good kids. Staff was rude to them and generally unpleasant. Sad..! We won't b back and we warn anyone who travels that direction to keep the kids close. read more

Just a neat place! Definitely a place to take your mom, grandma, aunt, or whoever is in town visiting:) My boyfriend and I went one day just to eat a chocolate truffle and drink some of their complimentary coffee with our chocolate! It's fun to look around and see all the neat retail items they have. Reminds me of stores in Fredericksburg, TX. Also, a great place to buy gifts. read more

This is a great hidden gem in San Angelo. My husband and I just happened to stop in here as we were walking through the town looking at antique shops. What a pleasant surprise. The staff is very welcoming, and the place has so many things to offer. From the latest kitchen gadgets etc...to games and coffee. They sell coffee beans in many flavors..I will say I found them a little pricey for that as a 1lb. bag is $13.00 (for the flavored one anyway)....but the real surprise was we sat at the bar in the back , yes, there is a small coffee/wine tasting bar back there and we enjoyed a wine tasting. It was really a lovely little place. I bought a hand painted "Texas" Christmas Ornament which was a little bit expensive but I will hopefully have it for many years to come. I definitely recommend stopping in here. read more

I am new to San Angelo and when asking about shopping places (I am from Fort Worth where I can get anything), I was told to go to Eggemeyers. I agree that they do have just about anything but it is crammed in there. I had my niece and her 3 month old baby with me. We "strolled" into the store and just got into the kitchen items when a nice Sr man came up and told us strollers were not allowed in the store. We apologized as we didn't read the sign stating such as there were several signs on the front door. As we were leaving, 2 crotchety women standing behind the counter glared at us. As we got closer, one said in a condescending tone that we could leave the stroller behind the counter. I said that's ok that we would just leave and in a sarcastic tone, the reply was "OK!" I will not return to the store, no matter how long I live here and I have told everyone about my rude encounter. Several people have shared similar stories of how the "ladies behind the counter" were also rude to them. So, why would anyone support them? read more

We, too have been in the store many, many times.....however, I do not understand why they even have toys in there at all, let alone down low where the children can reach them and touch them. As soon as a child touches any of the toys, someone is right there to state that the toys are NOT to be touched....duh!.....then get rid of them or put them way up high where the kids aren't tempted! I do love the store and all the items they carry, just wish they were a more friendly place to shop. By stating that they do not want strollers in the store tells me they also don't want children in there. read more

Beautiful selection of goods in a wide price range. Delectable sweets too! There is a lot of folksy and vintage stuff here, as well as modern & hip. It's truly something for everyone and I've enjoyed every visit. I could spend hours browsing, easily. The employees have also been, in my experience, very pleasant and helpful. read more

Beware: I've shopped at Eggmeyers for years and always brought friends and family to the store. Recently my boyfriend purchased a beautiful $353.84 bracelet. When wearing it the clasp would not stay latched. I took it in the store and they could not do anything for me at that time. They wanted to contacted the manufacturer first before doing anything. I live 80 miles away so I agreed to give them time to see what they could do, when I returned 13 days later no decision had been made and I was told to wait longer. I would not except that answer living such a distance. After speaking to the owner she said she would not honor the bracelet. She would not even give in store credit because it had been worn!!!! How else would I know it would not stay clasped without wearing it. I will not shop where they do not stand behind their merchandise. So if you shop there make sure it's perfect or you are stuck with it. read more

I really love San Angelo. My parents do too. They came to visit for the 3rd time recently and were as smitten as ever with everyone and everything......EXCEPT for Eggemeyers!!!! I sent my mother to visit Eggemeyers whilst I went to a couple of other shops and then met up with her. She looked very downcast and her cheerful spirit was lost. She didn't say anything. We went back into the store as I had to buy something as a last minute gift. She came in with me and was astounded at how unresponsive all the staff were. Nobody looked up and smiled. They never do. I have been in a few times before, and always vow I'll never go back because of such unfriendly customer service. So why do I go back? Because I feel that "next time might be better". So, I pick something up and wait in the line for what seems ages. Again, there is no eye contact, no smile, no "I'll be with you in a minute". Nothing. The atmosphere is cold and sterile. Stiff, snooty and starchy. I make the transaction and I don't even get a "thank you" or a smile. I wish I hadn't bought anything now. They don't deserve anyone's business. Oh, I wonder if I'd have had good customer service had I picked out something massive? I know how staff can be when they smile upon those whom they think will make a big purchase. Fake all the way. I came out of the shop with my mother and she looked at me and sighed. We both said "oh - that's awful" and my mother then proceeded to tell me about her equally bad customer service when she'd been there just a little earlier. She was very alarmed at the hostility.
